  1. Keith, here is a couple pics of how the engine stand works.. Jojo
  2. the part you cant see, is the flat stock that is drilled to match up with the alternator bracket.. I think its 1/2'' thick.. its stout.. I'm heading back out there, if I rotate it I will take pictures of it, and post them.
  3. I guess I should have posted these pic's, Keith.. It's an ENDT 673, for a '61-ish B-Model.. The stand was made by one of his employee's.. its a strong stand but I have to use my engine crane to rotate it.. and I will have to take it off the stand and put it on blocks so I can put the flywheel housing on it, cant put the pan on without the front and rear covers.. I'm just glad it's not in the truck.. just sayin'.. Jojo
  4. I wish I had a picture of the RB I drove 2 years ago,, it was taller and beefy.. it was a water truck for job site dust control..
  5. mid 90's - early 2000's I think,, I guess I should have askes Google before posting so I can Look like I know what the hell I'm talkin about..
  6. Jim Beam?? Kentucky Bourbon from the State's, Paul??? You make me proud... I know Jim Beam personally.
  7. to me,, an RB is an RD on steroids,, heavier frame, if I remember right, similar to the RW, I have only worked on/ driven a couple of them..
  8. Mech...?? Now your starting to sound like a cranky Old Coot.. I have only ever built them in the truck, and not always in a shop.. However,, I am spoiled now.. Still Love You, Mech... Jojo
  9. Keith, This is the stand i'm using.. It is perfect.. Unfortunately it belongs to the man, who's engine is on it.. This picture is from today.. I hope to be able to buy this stand or one just like it.. It's an oldie, but it's a Damn Goody !!
  10. Many good points about protecting the crank shaft.. I had the good fortune of having the engine on a stand, so the crank was out when I did my work.
  11. As far as pulling the dry liners out of the 673.. I ran beads of weld inside the liners, and when they cooled, i was able to pull them with my liner puller..
  12. Since you have these pictures, you may be able to sell it with full disclosure. Someone out there has the head gaskets and other parts to fix it, or use yours for parts to fix theirs.. just sayin'
  13. I think Harbor Freight has a nut setting tool kit.. They are fairly easy to install.
  14. Glad you found the humor in 'us' taking over your posting.. we tend to do that a lot here.. Got any cool pics of your 'R' ??
  15. hell,, back a screw off, it it rises you have nut-serts, if it spins, go to another one to be sure it spins, then youll know its bolted and not nutserted... Mech, is 'Nutserted' a word??
  16. Buddy,,, it's moving too fast... engine designs are changing frequently and with more complicated ideas.. I have been away from the dealership for 5 years and I feel like I know absolutely nothing about Diesel engines.. I'm just glad I can come here and chat about the older ones and learn, even if it's by my mistaken postings.. I say 'To Hell 'with Ceramic parts.. yeah I know that ceramic rollers on OHC diesels has been around a long time, but I dont care.. I'm an in-line 6 pushrod guy.. Jojo
  17. there is a machine shop in Charlotte that said they could ceramic coat the old pistons for re-use.. we opted out, but I would love to see them installed and see it run, for a couple years..
  18. just curious, do you not have 4 or is it 8,,, larger diameter studs at the ends of the heads?
