  1. I have pieces of one that I am going try to use as a pattern. I think if we are going to keep these trucks going we as a community are going to need to start thinking out of the box. There will be a definite market for a pattern, even if we have to sew it. Or pay someone to sew it.
  2. Finaly got my parts truck home and of course i want to see if i can get it run. I didnt have a long enough bar with me so i will have to go back and give it a spin...hopfully. Anyway i discovered the truck has a 711 backed up bt a 14 speed. I am not familiar with. Are they any good?
  3. I was surfing around the old innerwebs and ran across this color from Alkandys. He sell it on on ebay also. I have not tried it, but it looks darn close on a computer screen.
  4. I want to thank the people at the Mack Museum for finding and scanning the mechanical drawings for the floor pans. I have attached them for future restores to use...to bad I would have got this 2 weeks ago! 1340335038_FloorPans.pdf
  5. I'd help you out if it was mine...I stole the pic awhile back because I thought it would help put my nose back on. Maybe someone on here owns it, but I'm not sure it's in the same state of repair.
  6. I have attached pic of my clip and a pic of someone else's truck (Thanks Whomever), but I'm at the same point. Should I keep the inner headlight panel attached to the radiator support or attach them to the clip to reassemble.
  7. Hi Mike, I could use that diagram and probably a bunch more people could also. If you scan it to me or take a picture maybe I or one of the admins can get it up.
  8. Yaa..yaa... ya...earplugs....hope I don't slip in an oil spot and break a hip. I've heard them all...well I did before I went deaf!
  9. Getting a double over would be great! But probably not my luck. We will see. I have to go to NJ this weekend for my Daughters Cheerleading Competition, but hopefully will have it home next weekend. Will probably take it to my buddies Junk Yard where I can take my time to salvage what I can.
  10. Good thinking!!! I didn't even look. I did crawl in the cab but the drivers seat looked like it had melted and I layed an old board across to get the paaenger door open.
  11. The b42 is in my shop with the 6v53 Detroit engine. The b61 is my latest acquisition. The cab is pretty bad, I will be keeping my b42 cab...though not much better that the b61. Yes the triplex transmission is in the b61 (in the weeds) I was not able to crawl under the b61 since it is settled down in the dirt to get a number off the Trans. So I'm not sure exactly what model. I'm going with what the owner has told me. I wanted to bar the engine over but I can't get a breaker bar in there. I assume it's seized.
  12. It's pretty bad...the floors are gone, door bottoms are rough. But it has a lot of parts I can use on my b42.
  13. The says he has the headlight panels complete. Outer fenders are gone and I assume inners are also.. Here is the tag. B61 not sure of the year
  14. Welp... it's coming home.
  15. It is for recreational use...maybe haul a trailer occasionally. I have to figure out the input shaft length and pilot bearing diameter...
  16. Sounds like it will hold up, I'm not planning on using it hard. I have a time scheduled with the guy tomorrow evening to check it out.
  17. About 200hp and 450ftlb torque
  18. I have got the engine install pretty well figured out and have been toying with the idea of what trans to use. I have the original Fuller 5 speed that came off the Detroit and I have the little Duplex from the 401 Gas job. I would love to keep 2 sticks but the Duplex would not enjoy the torque of the 6v53N. Being the Triplex if from a diesel i thought it would be better suited for the Detroit...If I can make it fit. According the build sheet it looks like its got a 6.20 rear axle and with 48" tire, 2500rpms and 1:1 in the transmission. It should run 52mph. If I push the Detroit to 2800 it should run about 57mph.
  19. Hello everyone, Hope you got your junk put away...the white stuff is a comin here in the Northeast. I had a guy stop in the shop last week and informed me that he has a 1958ish B Model with a diesel and triplex sitting in the weeds. Frame was cut at the front spring shackle and the outer fenders were gone but the rest was there. I have not seen it in person yet, but the price sounded real good. Soooo. I want to know what you think about a triplex behind a 6v53 Dripoit. Is it even possible to bolt it up. The Detroit is a SAE2 and I have no idea what the Triplex is...PS. Don't be haten
  20. Hording is commonly misunderstood. People see it as holding on to an artifact that you will never do nothing with. But it serves a much larger purpose that what you can physically see. Maybe as stated before it may hold sentimental value. Or maybe it allows the owner to say in conversation "Hay! I own one of those" Or in some cases it is a purpose, that lets the owner get up every morning, if not to do anymore than dream about how it will be when they get to finishing it. I hate to see old iron just rust away...but on the other hand, It make me sad when I part with a piece.
  21. Thank you for the Info. I think I have mounted about where yours is. Looks like your exhaust runs forward. My truck in Non-Turbo so i think I should send it out the back. If I can make a 45 degree bend about an inch from the manifold clamp...I think I can get it. Thanks for the pic. If you ever get up that way and want to snap a few pics I would love to add them to my posts. Just for other weirdos putting Detroit's in B-Models.
  22. Yes with a doghouse or nose extension it will fit. I didn't want to modify the look or make a dog house. Could have put in a 6v71 but couldn't find one when I got the 6v53. I now know where there is a 6v71.
