  1. Dementia Joe's Peace Summit speech. They must have given his double the day off, he was babbling big time and tossed one of his favorite words out, the one that starts with N and ends with R. Fast Forwards to about 15:24 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwjxQoTyVAE
  2. We've become so used to those roller tappets that we take them for granted. People seem to feel they will last forever, and they seem to, but it doesn't take much to make one fail when you think about it. That roller just has to stop rolling and that's it. Doesn't take much to cause enough friction to jam it up. There is a life expectancy for those bearing in there and a tiny little particle of crud or some heat and once the roller starts to rotate slower than the cam and it builds up the heat it won't take long
  3. Those rims are still very common in Africa, Mexico etc. Nothing wrong with them per se, but like mentioned you have to know what you're doing. You used to see a lot of tyre guys missing every single tooth, or parts of their face. Career Day was rough for those chaps I guess. You can't have your head a mile away when you're working with those. Things have come a long way.
  4. Restore one of those would be a fortune, makes me sad. If you ever worked the sheet metal on those old Macks, it seems to be at least twice as thick as anything we see in 2021. It's so sad to see them like this, but some things in this world cannot live forever, and some things must be organ donors so others live on. Thank you for caring enough to step in and do what you can. I commend you.
  5. The batteries and battery box are here. That's just under $500. I spent a couple days when I could finder time fixing about 15 air leaks. The seat bottom is $107, that's on the way. I'll start on the A/C when I get some time, front tyres and paint it. This used to be yellow. The guy just wants new trucks. Image means a lot. These Are really well maintained trucks compared to some of the stuff I see. The A/C doesn't work and a lot of air leaks. If the batteries weren't dragging on the highway, it would probably still be doing septic suck-outs.
  6. You shouldn't have oil in your air. It's going past the rings in the compressor. Change your air filters regularly. Also, pressures above 124 aren't a great idea. Some of the older stuff had been about 130 a long time ago.
  7. It's actually not an R. It's a DM690S. I didn't even notice until later. When I towed it he told me it was a broken down R, and I see why. His other older trucks are all R's.
  8. I send a lot of buses to a third party who send them to Laos and Brazil. Buses literally never retire. Many will go ten years or longer without break linings. The concept of DOT/MOT or PM is a campfire laugh to them. But I spent many years in Somalia and those people never discard anything, especially a truck. Even if it blows up, they will make an Ox cart from the parts
  9. Very few here will knowing how correct this statement was. One of the few governments we feared in our peak even. People disappear all of the times
  10. It's not letting me add pictures.
  11. I'll get some pics up. No, it's not mint and ready to go cross country. But it's not bad either. It def needs some work but it runs and moves. They let some stuff go for a while. The clutch doesn't feel terrific and it's a city truck. You aren't getting on the interstate in something like this. Needs a battery box and a couple E31's. I'll make cables for it. The cab, glass and pump is worth the money. This would actually be a good export truck. Afghanistan or Sur America.
  12. Yeah. $500 won't even get you a good parking spot anymore. I just got rid of an RV, so that piece of land didn't stay vacant for long
  13. They said they are phasing their older trucks out and getting new trucks. I may need another wrecker driver soon 😃
  14. Next few days if I can get photos from my phone to the computer. If it's still a major fight, I can find another computer. What would you like to see?
  15. These guys have a 90 mack R model with an E6 and a 5 speed trans. Long frame, it's a city truck which had a vac tank set up on it. They were driving it until the battery box rusted out and the batteries fell out and tore the cable loose and they just retired it. They want $500 for it, so I'm probably going to go get it. I set a stool next to it with a battery and it fired right up and runs good. It's not bad, the cab is perfect, the interior is rough which is always the case in old city drivers. Just the 5 speed tranny is a big disadvantage. I'm likely to just steal the cab off it and scrap it.
  16. I would sure love for this to be wrong, but I tell you from experience that if you thought 2020 was bizarre, 2021 may make it seem like bliss. Welcome to North Korea.
  17. I'm curious. And Floduh keeps changing it. So far, for now what matters is your endorsement, your medical card. People with a straight truck CDL and no extras can drive their RV provided they have liquid brakes. Your set up is a combo, so no passengers to worry about legally. Here, there is an exemption if you drive under a certain number of miles annually, I think it's 1000 or somethink. This works for sales people and mechanics, and some hobby people. We are flooded with New Yawkers in RVs and they don't want medical cards or air brake endorsements. It will change again soon. If bus drivers keep working around the clock with no sleep and crashing Disney buses the government will find a solution. This will vary from state to state too, but not that much. Curious how they do it there. I doubt if they give you much of a hassle as long as you have a CDL and a combo
