  1. Kool!!!! Real Kool!!!!!!
  2. Mack has been testing SCR for several years. The shop that does my heavy work does the service work for the factory test trucks. I happened to stagger in there one day when they had one in there. What a mess of sensors, plumbing and stuff on that truck. It was a Vision with a 460. The scuttlebutt is that SCR will use about 15% EGR VS 30% or more without SCR. That seems to be the issue. Get that EGR reduced to bring back fuel mileage and dependability. Also, a whole new industry will be developed. The DEF (Urea) will need a distribution system ETC...... Of course, we could all get Rob to pee in our DEF tanks................
  3. Rob, Please don't let the superficial efforts of your wife to get you to bathe more often get you off track.......Stick to your guns man!!!!! All of the males of the species are counting on you!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Nah, that's one thing I don't worry about. Up at Baltimore Mack, Hagerstown, there is a parts guy up there, good 'ol Reed, that has been in the business since Noah was floating around looking for the Bahamas.........He is the absolute BEST!!!! In fact the whole gang up there is a lot of fun!!!!!!!!
  5. Comeon Rob, asphalt give roughage and crunchy is good!!!!!!!!
  6. Well anyways, another left turn has derailed a purrfectly good thread...... My 'ol CH with mack rears had a ton of play in the jackshaft splines (easy Rob) and it would really vibrate at 45-50 MPH. I replaced the shaft and it took care of the problem. funny thing was, it was the last thing I checked because I didn't think something so short could vibrate that bad......DOH!!!!!!! I know those vibrations at speed can drive you nuts!!!!! I've already had the wife drive the truck around the terminal while I was hanging off the deckplate to see if I could hear something. I did find a bad pinion bearing that way!!!!!!!!
  7. Welcome to the forum TT !!!!!! Great bunch of guys in here for sure!!!!!! Fun too, although in a strange kind of inflatable kind of way!!!!!!!!
  8. Well, I did a service today and the leak is definitely coming from the filter head where it bolts to the block......a dinner engagement made me postpone a repair until the temperature will be in the teens with 6 ft of snow on the ground............I work outside.........
  9. You see what happens when you spend so much time trying to seal leaks in your vast collection of, shall we say, lady friends.......Tends to fog over the 'ol brain don't it!!!!!!!!!
  10. Hmmmmm, interesting...... Well if anything crawled up the breather tube to take residence inside my engine, at least the 'ol Bulldog would have had a nice little snack........ As for the latest left turn we have taken here, I find that the use of lubricant takes away the cute noise that kinda sounds like moving a straw up and down in the lid of a "to go" soda cup.............
  11. Wow, and for years I've been using JB Weld.......That stuff hurts!!!!!!!
  12. I personally like the way threads over hear can weave uncontrollably. Kinda like me at 3AM on my way back from Ashland VA........Am Anyways, These oil coolers don't look as bad as the one on my 95 350...... That one looked like a real gem to line up!!!!! I have to give it some thought.........Thanks for the info!!!!!!
  13. Well, if Rob is at Red Lobster, he will be busy trying to get that crab claw released from his nose....One of these days he'll learn not to harass the waitress.........
  14. by the way, love that emoticon-reminds me of home! It's one of my trademarks from a radio forum I'm on.......
  15. Rats.....My first double post.......
  16. The first truck I ever drove was an old F Model. The driving school had it and it was fun to drive. I got my first driving job pulling bulk tanker with a IH Transtar. I've always liked Cabovers but it was the fuel mileage thing that kept me out of one since I became an owner operator. The trucks in the pictures look like they may get decent fuel mileage. You guys have any figures on that. Just curious........One of the trucks in the pics would look cool pulling a set of Fed Ex doubles!!!!!
  17. I'm just a newbie in here but judging from what I've seen so far, I think Rob is REAL LUCKY he hasn't had a tandem dump truck of coal emptied right into his yard.......... And I wonder if he filled that stein up yet????? Any leaks??????
  18. My 2002 Pre Emission 427 has a leak that is running down the block right in back of the oil cooler. I'm assuming it is the cooler leaking. I have to bring the truck home for service next weekend and I'm wondering what kind of job it is to replace the seals????? This truck sat from January 08 to November when I bought it. I'm surprised that this is the only leak so far. I serviced it before I put it on the road and boy did it smell bad out of the breather and it had a ton of blowby. After about a week the smell went away and the blowby is down about 2/3rds. She is running great now. I dosed it up with Howells for about the first 5 tanks of fuel. So, is the oil cooler seals something I can do when I service, or do I need a couple of days????
  19. Geez....I used to use them as a broker back in the 80's and 90's. I was wondering if they were still in business. A free McDonalds sandwich kinda figures. They were tough on the rates.........
  20. Hey Rob......My B.U.D. was named Sylvia, but one day she farted and flew out the window..........
  21. Now wouldn't that be a project to put in a Dodge.......And really get the Cummins guys growlin!!!!!!!
