  1. Toting something around on display is usually good for turning up related goodies. Did any of you happen to see this old sleeper out on the left coast? Vintage sleeper on eBay
  2. Man I miss George Carlin!
  3. I grin every time I see this:
  4. That sucks that people pull that crap - but glad to hear you got the best of him! Slightly related:

  11. Not a problem, Al. I use searchtempest.com which makes tracking this stuff down much easier. The thing I don't like is when the listings end or are closed, my links are worthless. I try to save pictures or get a screen capture of the really good stuff.
  12. I'm diggin' the topic with all of the NY heavy-spec dumps, so I went looking for some of them - and whatever else turned up. 1971 mack all wheel drive (WOW!) ~ Rochester, NH: http://nh.craigslist...2826621095.html B81 Mack Truck (dump) ~ Freehold, NJ: http://southjersey.c...2821742293.html 1979 Mack DM 800 with rock body dump ~ Bozrah, CT: http://newyork.craig...2832700305.html 1985 DM Dump Truck ~ Perth Amboy, NJ: http://cnj.craigslis...2861953194.html Old Mack B-81 tri axle dump truck ~ East Haddam, CT: http://hartford.crai...2853543730.html 1997 Mack RD 854SX (coal hauler) ~ Pikeville, KY: http://charlestonwv....2836492122.html B-61 & B-81 dump trucks ~ Southwick, MA: http://worcester.cra...2881052851.html One I missed before...... 1956 B model mack 6 wheel dump truck ~ Newport, RI: http://providence.cr...2804185241.html Oddball..... 1975 Mack R-487 6 wheel dump - Scania diesel / Allison auto ~ Lincoln, RI: http://providence.cr...2869570410.html

  14. Screen capture of classified listing: Not mine & I know nothing about it.
  15. I guess some call it a 283, but I've always known them as a 300 or (300+ if they were backed by a 13 speed) with the tip turbine. (ENDT 676, correct?) I do know it has an automatic transmission. Brad Wike was supposed to get it running & moving (which he did) and then it was to go to Elizabeth Truck Center in Joisey to do the rest.
  16. LINK to the Bulldog section. Check out the other brands at your own risk.

    Ugly?

So smart it's stupid. Might make a good wheel chock though, huh?
  18. Been about 20 years since I was in that old of an F model, but I'm thinking that the brake buttons were back almost above the shifter(s). The one picture shows the wiper knobs, the marker light switch, and then the parking/headlight switch. Pretty sure the brake buttons were the next in that row.
  19. That's the cab latch - they weren't hydraulic tilt either You always wanted to make sure the little hook thingy caught the proper piece down under there too -- or you might be looking at the pavement if you had to stop quick.
  20. These are both currently listed @ Truck Paper and the sellers seem to be very proud of them. I kinda like this one: RL795 boom truck in TX I guess this one might have potential, but the rust wash on the back of the cab makes me nervous:RS795 in TN
  21. I think the biggest problem beyond them running on 4 cylinders at idle & under a light load / all 8 holes at full power deal was guys cranking too much fuel to them. I think they had some oiling issues too. I never owned one or was around one working, but I know the DV-550 looks & sounds good - especially with an M&W turbo hanging off of each bank.
  22. A few of my pics from the 2010 (fall) NAMA show - Fordson / Fords were the featured brands. Early '39 9N: The "Boomers": A mixed row: Welcome to the future: Didn't mean to steal the thread, but I like tractors....... especially red ones with V8's
  23. I got talked into working on a slightly modified '40 9N this winter..... Every time I go near it, I find something else wrong with it! I guess I probably should have said no.
  24. Good chance that is a Funk (does not mean Ford + Junk) conversion - could get them for inline sixes and the V8 flatties, and I've even seen one or three customs with a Lincoln V12. From "my" local show:
