  1. Did you try to sell it on ebay a year or so ago? I remember that auction, think a link a link was posted here. Its a tough sell, very few people in the market for such a truck and if they are chances are it is making them money and they don't want a project truck with hard to find parts. Myself and others here would hate to see such a rare and awesome Mack model sent to china in little bits. Maybe Gerhart would rescue it or someone else in the heavy hauling/equipment business. I would try to hang on to it for as long as practically possible but it sounds as if you already have. Dump trucks of that size require rigging and a special transport permit to move. Someone out there must have a project that needs an off highway dump. Maybe a small family ran logging/quarry/mining company might want a spare truck or a cheap yet stout 50 ton dumper to move dirt/rock around. I am sure someone would want it its just a matter of finding that person or company. Here is an idea: Post a video of it on YouTube. Sounds crazy but give it an interesting and informative title, something like "monster 50 ton mack dump truck" sounds good. Record some footage of it running around a bit. Start the video off with someone starting the big Detroit (or is it a Cummins?) and driving off. Then switch to an in cab view and drive around for a few minutes letting everyone hear the roaring engine and view out of the cab. Then top it off with another external video of someone running the dump hoist up and down and then your done. MAKE SURE you put the engine model (eg. detroit diesel 16v71 or cummins VTA) and M50 into the tags. This helps the video pop up in you tube and searches. Then in the description say that the truck is for sale and some information about it. People love 2 cycle Detroit "porn". There are tons of detroit diesel videos on youtube and many of them get plenty of hits. The M50 will surely be a great video and someone who is watching might be a potential customer or knows someone who does. Its an odd way to sell but an interesting one. Even if you manage to sell it, keep the video posted for us Mack and Detroit fans. And out of curiosity, how much are you asking for the truck?
  2. Rob, If you still need the pin outs, check this page out. There is a pin out diagram for the semi trailer 7 pin plug. http://www.allpar.com/fix/electrical/trailer-wiring.html
  3. So the flood gates have opened. I wonder how much port traffic will be "diverted" to Mexican ports close to the US border.
  4. That is one sturdy sign pole and sign.
  5. Yup all bull shit. We have tons of coal here. Build coal to fuel plants right next to or close to the mines so we don't have to haul coal all over the place. Best part is the process only needs carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas as a feed stock so we could get CO from other sources such as biomass. Only problem is it needs hydrogen as a source of fuel which is extracted from methane via steam reforming. In fact steam reforming creates hydrogen and carbon monoxide so we could directly convert methane to liquid fuels. The plants are costly to operate but if things get bad they could become more attractive. But there are still tons of other chemicals we derive from crude oil as well. Asphalt to pave roads, heavy fuel oil for ships, plastics and lots more. Going to be hard to kick the crude habit but we can cut back on its use for fuels. And don't get me started on ethanol.
  6. I was listening to the radio the other day and they are predicting gasoline to hit $5 by memorial day. This is all because of the rebellions/revolutions in Egypt and Libya. Both countries are oil producers. I really wish we would kick the habit of buying oil from those shit holes. We have plenty of coal and we can produce both gasoline and diesel fuel from coal. The Germans did it during WW2.
  7. PACCAR is not knocking on anyones door. They have their super modern MX engines and the re badged Cummins. There is rumor that they were even working on a big bore MX engine but the plans were shelved when the economy went south. Also Cummins aren't slouches either. Mack really needed new engine technology and whether we like it or not, Volvo gave it to them. Mack has been foreign owned since 1990 and Renault was been buying Mack shares since 1979.
  8. From what I have read they will feature CAT engines.
  9. I have been through that website before. Interesting way of living.
  10. I like that Hyster. Goes along with the older truck perfectly.
  11. Shhhhhhhh, loose lips sink ships A small granite would look very much like the Australian Metroliner, a short BBC (~108") Mack powered by either a Cummins ISC or ISL. They are light weight and popular as mixers down there.\ I hope the new truck is one of the following: "Metroliner" -Compete with PB and KW in the premium medium duty class 7/8 market. Superliner - who doesn't want to see this one come back? Big power Vision.... er, I mean pinnacle axle back - Lengthen the hood and drop an MP10 in it.
  12. Makes you feel a little sick knowing it was close to a comeback. I believe the V-MAC E9's were available in Australia and Europe.
  13. I have seen that Blue F on Old Mack's site and it looks like its in great shape. I am just curious as to why you believe its too much work. Do you see any major problems?
  14. OH man your killing me here! You are sooooo very lucky to find that truck, only 44 F8956's were made. Now I just NEED to find out what happened to the other 43 . I dont want an F model, I NEED one! And I would like it to be as unique as your F is. I really like the picture of the Mack helping (or is it pulling LOL) the Volvo along with its its modular trailer and transformer load. Great history you have on that truck.
  15. Don't worry Leon, I got you covered Even though this is a model, it clearly shows how this type of trailer is actually loaded.
  16. Just the other day I was thinking about how to recreate a classic Mack look using a CH or similar truck. Remove the hood and bumper, then build up from there. Fabricate a radiator shell, metal hood and fenders. Then top it off with an old school bumper, head lights and few bits of chrome trimming. It could turn out pretty good. Should also have spokes to complete the look.
  17. Nice looking trailer, what year is that Nooteboom? Looking good so far, you need to post pictures of it hooked to a truck with a load on her.
  18. WOW! What a rare find!
  19. They straiten out, unhook the trailer and back up over the draw-bar (thats why their draw bars are so low.), then unlock the transfer box and it rolls into the main box. There is a locking mechanism that keeps the box inside. Supposedly they are good for operating on sites that are too difficult to navigate with a dump trailer. There are even doubles so you have a dump pulling two transfer trailers. Quite a sight.
  20. Glad noone was hurt. But oh how it hurts to see that old dog wrecked.
  21. I am a big F junkie. And all I know is that I am extremely jealous of your F800. You are one very lucky Mack truck owner. Have fun restoring and showing off your truck, or maybe you could sell it to me?
  22. Puerto Rico might as well be the 51st state. The dollar is their currency, you can travel to and from without a passport, its like crossing a state line. Puertoricans are US citizens and can come and go as they please and they can be drafted during war time. Their local government operates like that of any other state. It really is another state but they just dont want to mess up the evenness of our great flag. Where the hell would the 51st star go? Check out this article for more of our past and present territorial holdings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territories_of_the_United_States
  23. LOL! British accents are always hilarious for comedy.
  24. Happy Birthday Barry!
  25. Korean Planetary axles? On a Kenworth? You sure they weren't SISU axles(Finland)? What a waste. They should have just swapped out the axles for a domestic set.
