Anyone Know When We Will See Pelletier's New Titan?
ThaddeusW replied to ThaddeusW's topic in Odds and Ends
My theory is the episodes with the Titan are in production or yet to be released. I hope we see it soon! -
I was just watching an episode of American loggers and I decided to visit their website. Their site has some real nice pictures, mostly Mack's including their new Titan. I want to know when we get to see the Titan get some air time! Anyone know? http://www.geraldpelletierlogging.com/Gerald_Pelletier_Logging/Gerald_Pelletier,_Inc___Maine_Logging___Home.html (Big link eh?)

With all the emission crap taking up valuable frame space; square fuel tanks hold more fuel than round tanks of the same length. And if you look toward the front of the tank you see the blue cap on the DEF tank for the SCR system. The square tank lets the DEF and diesel tanks blend together better and gives greater capacity. That's why every European truck has square tanks.

Shame. The WHY was directed at the insane law that bans military trucks from the roads. What motivated the state to pass this law? -
Can I Put A Diesel In A B-42?
ThaddeusW replied to JAMBRO's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
the 4-71 is pretty short so it should fit. The naturally aspirated 4-71 should yeild about 159HP which is half the power of a 318HP 8v71. With a turbo you could get about 200-220HP and around 450-495ft/lbs from that little 4-71. Don't think it will stack up to a turbo 673 in terms of power but it will have more power than a gasser. -
I believe the B model number (eg. B61, B42, B81 etc) will tell you if its diesel or gas. The first number tells you the chassis duty rating, the second number will indicate if its diesel or gas simply if the number is odd or even. An odd second number such as B61 or B73 indicates diesel. B42 or B60 indicates gasoline. Check out this B model information page: http://oldmacksrus.com/Info.htm. Check out the B model standard engines link.

I think you are correct. The V300 was standard but they might have used the 903 for re-power at some point. -
Dm 800 Cat Engine
ThaddeusW replied to nice b's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Sure have. Central Jersey Trucking has a BIG DM800 that came from factory with 100,000 lb Planidrive rears 5/6 speed and 865 V8. Central rebuilt the truck with a 3406, 13 speed fuller and a 4 speed aux. So yes it is quite possible. 45LMSWM (John) knows a bit more than I do of the truck. There have also been a few other DM800's with CATS installed by owners. -

No offence taken, everyone is allowed to make mistakes. I have seen 10 tons built with a 903, in fact there is a website with a 903 and transmission/transfercase for sale that is for a 10 ton. http://www.easternsu...et/spares1.html . Maybe I am getting my 10 ton models confused. As for price I am just quoting what I have seen various 10 tons go for on military truck dealers, ebay and truck paper. I used to have a bunch of links saved up for such dealer sites but I lost most of them. There was a real nice one on eBay not too long ago with a set of gin poles installed to turn it into a little crane. Was used for house moving. Owner wanted I think between 10-15 grand so that might be a ball park for a good used one. The $35,000 figure was from this listing on truck paper. I think that person is looking to keep that truck for quite some time if you ask me, 29-5 is very steep (used to be 35k) Oh I found a listing for one in VA but I lost the link, Google for m125 sale or m123 sale and you might be able to find it. Was listed for about 4500. So I would try to see if it runs and drives good then make an offer of 5k and see what the owner says. -
That must have been a huge relief, remember spilling a 5 gallon used oil jug and having to clean it up with a big bag of kitty litter. Not fun at all. When you first said Rural King I immediately thought of a rural Burger King that served critter burgers and road kill fries .

If you want all of those reverse gears, the T309M and T310M transmissions are the closest thing to the 12 speed Mack gear boxes. The T310M shifts like a 9 speed but instead of a reverse position it has lo-lo. So in reverse you have lo-lo, lo, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The T309M is a six speed that lets you split 1st to 3rd and then just shift to 4 - 5 and 6 and 1st to 6th in reverse. Just an idea.

ThaddeusW replied to B61TENDT711's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Depends on the condition. If it runs, drives and has no drive line problems then it could be worth up to $10,000. There is one or two that were used for heavy haul on truckpaper.com and they want some crazy number, something like $35,000 each. I don't know how good the LeRoi engine is but they more commonly built with Cummins non turbo 903 V8's. Transmission is a Mack gearbox with integrated transfer case and the rears are 65,000 pound Mack axles with a 9.02:1 ratio. The front might be rated at 18,000 lbs, not sure but it uses a helix gear set instead of a double cardan joint for the axle shaft. Not a fast truck but a very powerful one, made to haul tanks off road so it has to be tougher than nails. Shame Oshkosh took over making Military trucks, Mack could have easily have filled that need. -
Big Dm 800

There is nothing better then a DM800 for heavy haul (well maybe an M series:lol:). Those trucks could probably run for another 50 years no problem. -
Macks For Sale

Yea no F700 but man look at all the Ultraliners. I love those 8x4 twin steer day cab Ultraliners, awesome setup. -
Thankfully Volvo is developing a regenless 2010 system so you don't have to worry about a good pull to burn out the DPF.

My New One,( Not A Mack)
ThaddeusW replied to MACK MAN's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I cant come up with the words to describe how awesome your truck is and how lucky you are to have bought it. I am jealous! I always think that a very heavy spec classic would be an awesome show piece. How much did you pick it up for and what was the name of the previous owner(s)? I would love to get my hands on an LR or M45 Do you mind if I post these pictures on the Hanks truck pictures forum? I am sure many people there will enjoy them. -
WOW. Just WOW. That must be the bargain of the decade! 7500 would be enough for the truck but looks like they are throwing in a lowboy of some sort too (looks like a goose neck)!

Keep the spokes. Paint the rim and spoke two different colors to create some contrast which makes them look allot nicer. Spokes look awful when both rim and spoke are the same color such as white, black or even gray. You see them painted like that from dealers who do a quick spray can cover up job on the whole thing. Go to Hanks Truck Pictures and look at pictures of Australian or New Zealand trucks. Before the 90's spokes were found on just about every vehicle down there. Even in the 2000's some trucks still came standard with spokes. They really made them look damn good too. Check out this HTP page, at the top you will see a funky looking cab over called an Atkinson 3800 (British truck maker owned by IH at the time). Now those spokes look amazing. That one picture right there convinced me you can do wonders with spokes. Scroll down that page and you will see that just about every rig has spokes, even a nice B on there too.

That is one funny video right there, lol. Ha ha, that is so true. They are a real pain to use because you have keep that silly cord out of the blades. Plus some bunches of crab grass or tall weeds will easily slow it down or even jam it. Gas mowers pretty much stop at nothing (except one we had that blew all its oil out the exhaust) and there is no cord to chew up.

You know what, that is pretty much the same reason my brother to this very day cant even stand the smell of Jack! He was at a friends house party and started off with three Heinekens. Well they ran out of beer so he did a shot or two of Jack and decided he liked it so much he would just walk around with the bottle and drink strait from it. Well his night was a miserable one for sure! I got him to do a shot not too long ago and he almost gagged from the taste. Another friend for some reason claims Whiskey, mainly Jack makes him violent after he returned from Iraq. I can believe him because anytime he had some whiskey in him he would try to start a fight with anyone who looked Arabic. He is strictly a beer man now.

Rob, There are a bunch of ways to do it but the basics needs are: -Host: AKA web server. This service gives you the actual space to upload your website content to. -Domain Name: The "Address" of your website. Points to the IP address or virtual address of the host. www.bigmacktrucks.com is a domain name. Some hosting providers allow you to register a domain name and give you space for your content. My brother uses HostMonster for his site and its cheap, about 6 bucks a month which includes the domain name. HostMonster also gives you a free site builder and templates to help you to start building the website without worrying about JAVA, HTML, CGI, PHP, ASP or any other technical acronym. You simply setup the site, load up a template and upload your pictures to the site. Inserting text is done through the site editor. Back in the day you had to find a host for your site who provided telnet and/or FTP access (usually your ISP). It was a basic shell account on a Unix system that gave you a few megs of space for your email, website and data. You manually encoded the html yourself or with the help of a page builder from Netscape or Microsoft. You then uploaded your website data using FTP. You could also buy a domain name if you wanted and just pointed it to the address of your host's web server. This can still be done but its a hassle and the old shell account has given way to cheaper, simpler shared hosting. Shared hosting still allows for FTP access but adds newer methods to easily upload content from within your web browser.

HEINEKEN! F#@% THAT SHIT! PABST BLUE RIBBON! Its funny you mentioned that as I always say that line when one of my friends orders a Heineken . Yuengling is thought of the same around New York City, nothing special but still a fine beer. I personally love Brooklyn Lager, its similar to Sam Adams Boston Lager but not as bitter. The local dive I go to every now and then had pints of Bud Light for $2.50 so I would have 6-8 pints. Now its $3 a pint but that is still a decent price. You can still get pretty bent on a $20. And I always tip a buck a beer so I get buy backs and free shots too. I like Irish Whiskey or Jack.
