  1. 14.00R24 is my guess.
  2. WOW! I too have never heard of the BIG SIX. Awesome! Now here is my question, Why did this engine enter development when they already had the Big displacement V8? Did Mack foresee problems with the V8 design in terms of emissions, production, maintenance or other problems? The E9 was a monster for its day. It pushed the power to 500HP which was more power than CAT or Cummins offered at that time (correct?). And in Europe it went to 560HP and then to 610HP in Australia. So the E9 could compete with CAT and Cummins.
  3. Its pretty much science fact, not some fictitious BS invented by far left tree hugging nut jobs. But the problem is everyone is going around beating the global warming drum and not actually doing jack about it. Al Gores Carbon Credits are a scam. As much as the first world countries attempt to curb the effect, third world and developing nations ignore the problem. India and China have have a combined population of 2.5 billion people, 8.1 times the population of the USA. Do thay have emissions laws? No. Curbing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is a good thing. But in a way its not fair we have to endure strict emissions standards that cost us money while billions of other people get to ignore them.
  4. Ahhh jeez. The smoke screen didn't work then? Maybe you should have put a few more tires on the road kill roasting fire.
  5. LOL Why does everyone care what or who Tiger Woods is doing? This crap deserves front page news? America - where entertainment matters.
  6. We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood. Woah! Hold on there. greedy corporations, greedy CEO's and Wall Street: These pricks trashed our economy and moved our jobs to China and India. Keep them? How about drown them. Wal-Mart : These guys were talking about having their Chinese made goods shipped into Mexican ports and want low paid Mexican drivers to haul the containers into the US and directly to Wal-Marts. Think those poorly kept port trucks are bad? Wait until the Mexicans roll in with their rickshaws. And the American drivers who would be further forced into the red. Yea sure, support them all you want. homeboys? Who the blacks? What the hell is a homeboy? The white kids trying to dress and act like thugs out of the ghetto? Hippies - They arent bothering anyone. Annoying? Yes. We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. - Wow. Just wow. At first I laughed, now its just sad. John J. Wall, Law Student and an American - Angry college student who should shut the f#@k up. He can take his phony patriotism and cram it up his ass.
  7. No GPS for me. I love technology but I firmly believe one should learn to navigate on their own with a map. Maps don't have batteries or need satellite signals, some don't mind getting wet either. GPS is a nice idea but all too often people rely on it to the point where they cant go anywhere without one. Nowadays I use Google maps and don't even bother using it for directions. I just print a map of the local area I am going to if its necessary (usually when lots of turns around local streets are involved.) The other day I was talking to my friend who was excited he navigated using a map instead of a GPS. I said "Welcome to the club, although your 12 years late."
  8. I don't have any experience but from what I have read, you can only haul your own personal items and trailer. Also those tags might not allow you to conduct business, even if personal such as helping a friend for free (or fuel money). I also believe antique tags only allow you to drive the vehicle for show purposes and not leisure activities. So driving around town with no purpose could get you in trouble but it all depends on who is breaking your chops.
  9. Hi there. It helps to be specific as possible. Is there any pattern to the shutdowns? Does it shut down during Idle, while driving, loaded, unloaded, hard pull? Any idiot lights on the dash lit?
  10. Well here we go again. If we thought the 2010 Diesel emissions were the last of the emission laws, we are going to be wrong. I had a sneaking suspicion that the EPA was somehow going to start placing limits on GHG emissions from trucks. This is bad news because it forces manufactures to either cut HP ratings or introduce hybrid drive lines to reducle fuel consumption. Not that its a bad thing but the F#@%ing EPA keeps getting it wrong and gives makers too little time to comply with ludicrous laws resulting in buggy or unreliable emissions technology. Europe had it right with the Euro laws. It worked like this: Current standard is Euro 1 and Euro 2 will go into effect tomorrow. Now until Euro 3 rolls out you can purchase both Euro 1 and 2 engines but you have to pay extra to register a less clean Euro 1 engine. Once Euro 3 comes out, Euro 1 is phased out but Euro 2 is still available until Euro 4 etc. That would have helped both 2007 and 2010 emissions if makers could still sell older engines and pass the cost onto consumers who want to purchase the older emission rating. That is what is hurting truck makers, the EPA forces everyone to switch at once so buyers snap up every pre emission vehicles resulting in a buying surge and then a long slaes slump. This could have been avoided if they followed Europes method. EPA fail, CARB fail The best is we keep getting screwed while the old "dirty" diesels are exported and ran elsewhere in the world. So the EPA laws aren't really doing shit for global anything.
  11. The reason the Mac systems do not have any real viruses in the wild is because of the small market share and better security model. Mac's are not 100% virus proof but that doesn't mean you should be lax with your browsing and email habits.
  12. Beware of the free crap that is advertised on the net. Anyone offering you anti-virus, spyware, registry or tuneup scans through a pop up or banner ad is pure bull s**t, same goes for other software such as photo editing. Instead Use known and trusted antivirus and other security related softeware. First off I would recommend ClamWin which is based on the free and open source ClamAV which is used on many large (and small) email servers to catch email viruses before they reach the client. I also reccomend AVG antivirus which has a free version that is both free to download and free to use. AVG does make it a bit confusing to find it at times because they would prefer you pay for the software which does have perks such as anti root-kit protection (the worst type of virus). There are also a few other good scanners that are free to download and use such as Super antispyware, ad-aware and malware bytes anti malware. All of which I have used to clean out infected PC's with good results (although I will admit some are so badly infected its almost impossible to clean them out 100% - the dreaded root-kit is the main culprit). As for image editing tools, paint.net is free to download and use and is very powerful. Also the free and open source GIMP is excellent too. I does have a dumb name but stands for: GNU Image Manipulation Program.
  13. Any reason you cant use some 1/4 inch C channel and make slots for 6"x10' boards?
  14. I found a good deal on a Stokes 149H Microvac vacuum pump. Its for a crazy project I have in mind. Its located in Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387 (East of Dayton). Pump is on a skid and weighs in at about 360 pounds total. Anyone near Yellow Springs? I dont need it right away so if someone could pick it up and hold on to it, we could meet up at this years Macungie or I could try and make a trip out to you. Also I remember there was a site where you could post a freight request and truckers looking for back hauls or extra cash can help you with transportation. Anyone know the site and/or have experience with it? Any help and advice is appreciated.
  15. That shrimp taco deal sounds pretty good actually.
  16. Its odd. I had a job offer a few months back from my brothers friend. So I figured why not? So they hired me on part time and are potentially offering me full time this coming January. I show up 15-20 min before the bell rings, always keep myself busy and I am as polite and positive as possible with all of my co-workers. So they hired on another part timer, younger than me (23) and was offered the job through another employee (that has allot of pull). So they put him on a machine to run a big job, few thousand pieces. Well he was too busy playing on his cell phone with text messages to actually ensure the pieces were properly aligned in the fixture. His run yeilded 30 bad parts, unacceptable for the strict quality control for those parts. I ran the job and had similar reject numbers as a 12 year veteran (less than 6). Somehow he thinks its acceptable to be on the phone while at work. I just don't get it.
  17. From the description: ROO BUMPER, BUG DEFLECTOR, MANUAL POSITIVE AIR SHUTDOWN. Holy crap, they have kangaroos in Canada! But in all seriousness, that is one good looking truck. I like the Granite axle forward but the axle back has this hideous gap where the stock bumper does not "skirt" the front of the truck properly. This Australian style bull bar cleans that up nicely.
  18. No it will not effect the overall length as long as you have enough overhang of the frame rails. Wheel base is measured from the center of the front steer axle to the center of the rear driving tandems. So if you have lets say four feet of overhang on the frame from the back of the rearmost tire, you can slide the tandems back another three or so feet. If the tandems were specked too far up then you had a bad salesman or unfortunately improperly specked the truck. Always do your homework and talk to your dealer. Make sure you feel that when talking to your dealer he/she is really working with you to give you the best truck for the job, not a truck off the lot that has been collecting dust.
  19. That is/was an advertisement for Michael Jordan cologne. I used to see a few strait trucks running around with that same advert of it. The sides should have his face on it and the rear had the back of his head.
  20. This is an interesting topic. You have to look at it like this: You let the government run the system. Sure it sounds good, the government is here to help us after all. They provide basic level civil and municipal services paid through tax money. Road building & maintenance, police, fire/rescue, sanitation (limited) water and sewer. Those are basic yet vital to keeping a safe, clean, civil population happy. So why not health care? Isn't that just as important as clean running water to keep the public healthy? Should health care be considered as a basic yet vital public need? Well it does sound good and has been implemented in other parts of the world and shown to work to a degree. Funny thing is we already have social medicine but in a limited form. Medicare is available to people 65 and over or those who meet special criteria. And we also have Medicaid for low income individuals and families. Problem is they left out the so-called middle class (which is a BS term) who could afford health care but in MANY cases would have to sacrifice allot of their income to pay for it leaving little left. But those systems are very broken asnd that is why we dont trust our government to provide universal heath care. I just read an article the other day that pretty much said the medicare system is robbed of BILLIONS of dollars a year. And the scary part? Its so damn easy it has been reported that some big time drug dealers have switched to medicare fraud! In that article it told of two guys who had over 40 phony health care clinics that bilked the system for over 80 MILLION! They drive around in Lamborghini's and lived in sprawling mansions. Why do we want our government to run this again? Or we keep the current private system and sit by as they continue to abuse the paying public. Suddenly diagnosed with a rare or life threatening disease? You could find that you policy was cancelled because you no longer meet the policies criteria. Have a nice life! Yea there are plenty of private health care disaster stories. But one thing is certain, the greedy bastards who run the show run a tight ship. They will unleash the hounds of hell on anyone who has tried to rob them of money (they don't like competition). So you have a very well organized system that does work very well when they feel you are not going to cost them too much money. Sometimes the system does work and you have no problems. So to sum it up: Government: Everyone gets equal treatment BUT there is no guarantee they will be able to curb the rampant fraud. Private: Not every can afford it or can be tossed out into the cold on a whim. But it works. So what do we want? I personally think it would be great if everyone was able to go to the doctor at any time. But I don't want a system so broken that criminals can literally setup an empty store front and bill the system for millions in phony claims that we all paid for. If they could prove they have a system as tight as private health care and impose severe penalties on fraudsters (jail time with a minimum of 2 to 3 years) then it might be worth it.
  21. The Kenworth K500 now uses the DAF XF cab. Unfortunatly it is only available for offroad use, you cant spec a K500 for on road use in North America. I suppose the truck would have to go through safety testing but it makes little sense since the DAF cab is proven safe just about everywhere else outside of North America. Since pretty much every American truck makers is somehow related to a European truck company, they could offer special order cab overs. Would be nice to see something different for a change.
  22. Hi, and welcome aboard! Is the ASET blown or just giving you too much trouble?
  23. Good luck on your trip Rob.
  24. Thanks Barry, now I am going to have nightmares. WTF is wrong with people, makes me feel better I live in a city so packed a Walmart cant fit. Although the Pathmark (supermarket) by me can be a circus at times, it doesn't hold a candle to Walmart. Sometimes eugenics sounds like a good idea.
  25. Okay, What the heck is a BCR? A B model that was transplanted to a R chassis?
