  1. Would make a darn fine heavy hauler though! But yea at $220,000 each is ridiculous. But seeing as how trucks like that are rare I can see how he over priced them.
  2. Meritor makes the Liteflex composite mono leaf spring suspension.
  3. They are not wars and there is no real way to declare that you have won. They didn't want us there and we aren't really helping anyone. Just ask my three friends who combined spent six years in those hell holes getting shot at and watching friends die. They are over there babysitting a bunch of people who don't want them there. This isn't WW2, Korea or Vietnam where there was a well defined enemy that were loyal to a nation or leader. I firmly believe that no candidate or party could solve this problem aside from just saying screw it and pull everyone out. But we cant do that because those crap holes just become another hot bed for terrorist training camps. So in short our boys are over there just babysitting a third world nation that cant get its act together. The actual war part of the invasion was over within just weeks. But yea the health care plan is BS. Although if you think about it your health is the most important part of life, without it you don't have much of one. And going to the doctor is expensive, I have no health care so I know. I just think the current administration is going about it the wrong way. All in all lets just say I TRUST NO ONE IN EITHER POLITICAL PARTY! Both of them are FULL of power hungry crooks who would screw rocks if they knew snakes were behind them. Clinton, Bush, Kerry, Gore, Obama, McCain are all attention whoring liars, that is what being a politician is all about, lying to the people. They are always in someones pocket or furthering their own twisted money grubbing schemes. Who wants to bet that Obams is in the Insurance companies pocket just like bush was in the pockets of big oil? Hell they must have both been in the pockets of the big banks because look how those crooks got away with throwing our economy down the shitter while walking away with billions in their own pockets. They all want one thing, money and power. I am sick of the BS, our founding fathers are rolling in their graves. Sorry for the slight rant buy it gets me so steamend thinking about how these morons are trashing our country. All the while trying to divide the people up into an "us or them" (Dem's, Rep's) situation. We are all suffering in this nation wether you are dem or rep, its time to see through the lies of these crooks and realize we are the people, not they or their money masters.
  4. Its apparently a very rare model. I once saw one for sale on American trucker some years ago. It was converted to a block truck. And your in a bit of luck, I saved the one and only picture the ad had! Aside from this picture I have never seen another picture of an HMM nor one in person. Funny thing is I have seen the M100 in person (well at a distance) and there were only three of those made. Only 144 HMM's were made.
  5. That was a New Zealand only model designation. In Australia I believe it was marketed as the Metro-Liner.
  6. That is a real beautiful truck you have there. Are the drives on spoke or budd? Well before you start fooling with the pump please realize the parts for these engines are very tough to come by. If you damage the engine or something fails then your SOL for parts in some cases. If it was your grandpas truck I would leave it alone. Just think of what your grandpa would say if you blew the engine up . I know I would run for the hills if I damaged any of my grandpas vehicles.
  7. Actually the Trident is based on the Titans raised cab mounting. So in order to make a Trident one would have to get the cab mounting from a titan and remount the cab higher off the frame (and other mods). The reason they did this was because the outback is pretty much a desert. With such high heat the engine and cab would be difficult to to cool. So they raised to cab to allow for a larger radiator and allow more air circulation around the cab. Mack Australia has Three raised cab models: Titan, Superliner and Trident. All designed to keep the driver and engine cool in the high Australian heat at medium to low speeds. But I would love to see a North American trident with the American Titan air intakes. Would make a cool severe service option for the CH. As for Cummins We are dealing with Volvo here. They are probably upset they have to provide a Cummins in their perfect Volvo trucks. And Mack has no choice but to offer their engines.
  8. During the Macungie plant tour I saw a DEF tank ready to go on a truck at the assembly line. So even then they were making them.
  9. Wow! she is one pretty truck.
  10. Similar thing happened during the early 90's on the Van Wyck Expressway but turned out to be deadly. Driver had the bed up and hit a pedestrian bridge. The bridge collapsed and fell on top of a car killing at least one person (might have been two). Truck driver escaped serious injury. Here is the bridge. As you can see it was the longer span that collapsed. What always gets me is how stupid people doing stupid things on the road always kill innocents but they always manage to live. Never got why it works like that.
  11. I still want to know how many recalls Volvo has posted for their trucks.
  12. Holy cow! That is going to be one sweet car hauler. That center console adaptation is a real nice touch. Cant wait to see her finished.
  13. Sorry that was a lame joke. At first glance it looked like a welcome mat that you would place in front of the door to your home. On a more serious note it could very well be a step plate of some type. That or a kick plate. As to where it would go, I have no idea.
  14. I should be there. I never went to Lititz yet so I have been planning to go this year. If you are going for sure let me know, I can bring you the landing gear.
  15. Volvo wants the highway business for themselves. They don't like the Vision and CH competing with their VN series. There was talk of them wanting to cut sleeper options all together to force Mack highway customers to their Volvo VN. IT didnt work. They even tried to compete with the big boys like Paccar with the VT and failed. If Mack introduced a New Superliner then they would have a clear winner. They should put the MP10 into the Vision and push it as an Aero highway truck.
  16. Happens to everyone. Some of those yellow lights are only a second or two and you don't have time to see it coming.
  17. Never heard of the Superdog with a turbine but I believe the turbine powered Cruiseliner is at the Mack museum.
  18. Looks like a genuine Mack severe service welcome mat. Then again, I could be wrong.
  19. Hmmmm. If you fear for your gonads you COULD hide it by my place when you pickup your landing gear. I wont say nuttin to momma... Scouts honor!
  20. Heavy Metal - Everything from the brutal Anaal Nathrakh to Zyklon and everything in between. Classical - Mozart, Chopin, Bach etc.. Great for just listening to when driving in traffic, clams you down. Classic Rock - Zeppelin, Rush, Billy Joel, and many more.
  21. I cant stand either heat or humidity. I wish there were a place with a constant 60-70 degree temperature. The need for AC depends on the house. If you have a simple flat roof with no crawl space, the rooms under the roof will be boiling, even when silver coated. I use the AC in my room only, I have a TV and computer there so no need to lounge in the living room. During the winter I keep the thermostat set at 60 as the steam heat winds up making the second floor hotter than the first floor. As for a truck with no AC if you dress for the weather you will be fine. Our ride truck has no AC and I wear shorts, tee shirt and sandals with no socks. The sandals really make a difference vs, sneakers/boots with socks. If you need just keep a pair of socks and boots so when you arrive at your destination you could always swap foot wear.
  22. There were about three different revisions for the 673. Perhaps you have one of an earlier design?
  23. Greetings from New York City and welcome aboard! There are a few others here from OZ, one from Tasmania too (Werkhorse)! Great site, great people, enjoy.
  24. GHG: Volvo doesn't directly own SISU but after they partnered with Renault before the takeover they formed a very tight relationship. SISU became Finland's Renault dealer network and SISU got access to Mack engines and Renault cabs (they even shipped with Fuller gearboxes too). But I believe Volvo does have part ownership that was inherited from Renault. Since the Volvo takeover, Mack engines were replaced by Renault DXi engines which as we know are nothing more than Volvo engines. I recently herd of a SISU mixer that was equiped with Renault hub reduction axles and a Volvo Gear box. Maybe SISU is the next brand to fall prey to Volvo. Shame really, they were in a way like Mack, building super tough trucks for the vocational market. LOL
  25. Check this auction out! I saw this truck on Hank's site and figured it was either scrapped or part of a private collection. Well lo and behold its on ebay with a bad tranny (pulled). The reserve is 5500 I think, he might have lowered it. That auction shows the date as 1945 but the door looks like it came off an R model. Any one have any info on this truck?
