They should euthanize the kids, not the dogs. At such a young age behavior like that is an indication they will only be a future burden on society and are therefor unnecessary.

Titan With Spokes
ThaddeusW replied to granitefan713's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I love the spokes! Where was that one? I sat in the one they had inside and man what a beast, looks like a blast to drive. -
Ha I was thinking that anyone with an all wheel drive vehicle or wrecker would be busy helping out the other trucks which were stuck. I saw that crazy Walter truck with the huge tires and jet engine on the back yank a Pete that was stuck along with its trailer loaded with two trucks. That Walter didn't break traction the whole time while the Pete's wheels were spinning. That definitely backs up their motto of "100% traction". I wish I knew more about that rig

Dang it! I missed the photo op . I met up with a bunch of Hanks Truck pictures members including a fellow by the name of Jan who flew in from Norway to attend this show and a few others during his 7 week trip here in the US. We were all talking for about a half an hour and then split up. I said let me kill a half hour and then head over to the BMT booth. Well wouldn't you know it I found the Conforti DM800 in the back and was too busy ogling it to remember the time. I realized it was 12, ran back to the booth only to find the picture had already been taken. Oh well always next year! So who else went on the factory tour? It was my first time and wow it was amazing! I thought it was going to be a canned tour with a guide dragging a group from station to station trying to keep with a schedule. Boy was I ever wrong! They pretty much turned us loose on the factory floor. I have never been on such an amazing self guided tour. As you walked along the assembly line from station it was self explanatory as you went from finished product all the way back to bare frame. and then walk through the parts room and then off through cab assembly. The Five trucks we were allowed to sit in and investigate was icing on the cake. I didnt think there was going to be a Titan for us to climb into and lo and behold there it was. The gift shop also had a sweet deal on Mack boots, only 20 bucks for a pair of size 12.5's. The box is too nice looking to throw out as it has a big picture of a RD800 logger along with pictures of CH, R's, a Superliner and Ultraliner I would like to personally thank everyone who made the show possible. If it wasn't for the rain it would have been a perfect day. And I have made it a point along with my two friends to also attend both the Watt's and Gerhart show. Yep

I did a carnival today in Brooklyn. Never saw so many Mexicans in my life. And to be brutally honest with the way their women look I am that are any Mexicans at all. Maybe that's why they invented tequila.

That's why they want to take our guns away.

Do yourself a favor and get a degree, even if its just a 2 year associates. Its been 10 years since I graduated high school and I don't have a degree. I went to a 2 year school for a total of about 5 years and bombed out. I did nothing but screw up and fail and then retake the classes. The sad part is I put myself in a serious hole and now I have to transfer out of that school to another that offers the same course. 10 years later and I still have nothing but a high school diploma. And it has prevented me from getting a few jobs I wanted simply because the prerequisite was a degree. Sure you can get a sweet money making job without a college degree but it never hurts to have that piece of paper. One day you might find yourself unable to drive or out of a job and then what? At least with the degree your job options are much greater. Heck you might find that after a few years on the road that you hate it and want to persue something else. The worst part is I am no dummy. I went to college for electrical engineering and did very good in all of my technology classes (well i did fail one but that was due to not handing in labs). I can still sit down to this day and work on electronic projects and computer projects. Hell right now I am building a small computer cluster (mini super computer using MPI) using a bunch of older motherboards I got from a friend. Its not easy to but I have been diligently working on getting it working for 5 days now. I never learned how to do it in school but that was never an excuse for me not to learn something new. I know my shit but without that stupid piece of paper you could be Einstein and still no one will hire you. Its a bad situation to be in so don't make my mistake. Go to school, don't screw around and get a degree! Maybe you could drive a dump/mixer/etc during the construction season and then go to school during the off season. The two will overlap but you might be able to work something out with your boss. You can make money and get a degree. Oh and go to a community college first, no sense in spending big bucks per credit only to realize you dont like college. If you like your major in community college you can transfer the credits to a real university and then persue a batchelors or even a masters. No sence in spending a grand a credit for stupid english and social science classes. Even the basic math and science classes can be taken in community college for cheap.

Wow beautiful looking truck. I like the tubular headache rack, never saw one like that before. Best of luck with the new rig, hope you are the lucky driver! Agreed! Hopefully with enough of these trucks going to work other O/O's and companies will see them and be persuaded to buy one. I get tired of seeing nothing but Pete's and Kenworths pulling dump trailers by me. You rarely see a Mack doing that work save for the Quadrozzi R models and a few others running RD's and CL's.

You can obtain a class A CDL at 18 but are restricted to in state driving only. Once you are 21 you can go anywhere you please provided you trucks registration allows for it (DOT, Apportioned). Also depending on where you live you can drive a truck with air brakes so long as the GVW AND GCW does not exceed 26,000 pounds with a regular class D. The rules are different for each state but many share the same set of rules. If you have a Class B then you can drive a strait truck up to the states allowed GVW for strait trucks. If you tow a trailer with a class B the trailer's GVW cannot exceed 15,000 (might be different for IL) and GCW not exceed the GVW set for the strait truck. For example if you ar driving a dump truck with a legal 80,000 GVW you can tow a trailer up to 15,000 so long as the truck and trailer do not exceed 80,000 together. If the trailer Exceeds 15,000 then you need a Class A but are still limited to the states GCW laws.

Every politician is a liar and a crook. I don't care which one it is or which party they represent. Obama so far is doing what every other crooked Washington criminal (politician) has done, sell out to the big boys. He put a bunch of RIAA/MPAA lawyers in the Department Of Justice. What the F#@& is he thinking. These scum bag lawyers (i am being polight) worked for the MPAA/RIAA suing little kids, college students and grandmothers for downloading some music and charging them thousands of times the price of the songs. And that is only part of problem I have with those shit bags in the DOJ. They should be gassed not given jobs. McCain would have been just as big a liar and crook. It just depends on who you believe is the lesser of the evils. McCain wasnt that great but some of his policies were good, but his tax plan sucked. Obama had a better tax plan. Oh and dont take sides with these crooks. F%#k the Republicans and the Democrats. Be your own man and vote for the best person. Dont vote because because of the party or their religion, vote for the better plan that benefits the people as a whole, not just yourself.

Great idea! Saturday is the best day. But we need to settle on the time! Noon sounds good.
-
I guess your too busy with the ladies
-
Good joke. You could substitute just about any politicians name in there; McCain, Bush, Clinton etc and they would all work just as well.
-
I will be there Saturday. Also when Macungie lost a day (Sunday) a year or two ago why did they not switch the show to Saturday and Sunday? Everyone works on Fridays making Friday a difficult day for us working stiffs to attend. I can take off but prefer to just go Saturday. I hope they have a Titan there and also hope they let us sit in it like they did with that granite dump truck.

Welcome! Great forum full of good people. Enjoy.

Talk to those from Australia or New Zealand. Trucks down there have some strict weight laws but when it comes to length they allow upward 175 feet. Freight doesn't have to weigh a hundred tons but its mostly always bulky. B doubles and triples have proved to be very flexible and useful in Australia. Lets not rule anything out. Bigger means more efficient.

Along with Volvo. Hate to say it but Volvo has earned allot of respect the world over. I saw a picture on Hanks that showed a Volvo with a burnt out cab with no windshield or side windows still working hauling a tanker full of fuel! Not saying Volvo is better but lets not kid ourselves. While Mack was making a name here in the US and Canada The Europeans were earning a name for themselves the world over.

I used to watch Alf as a kid and also had the talking Alf doll that you put a cassette into and his mouth moved along with the music or song. I also had Alf undies but in defense I was 9 or 10.

A Sad Truck Story
ThaddeusW replied to mackattack2's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Wow sad isn't the word. Sorry to hear it was stolen. Reading your story really got my blood boiling. Its tough to deal with it when the the people who are supposed to right the wrongs are so lazy and incompetent. Four black guys demanded the fire truck? And the cops took that statement and didn't question it? Where the hell did this happen, braindeadville? How f$@#&*% stupid were the cops that took that statement? I would have looked at that driver and said "Sir, have you been drinking or taking any drugs?" I hope something is done. I would make sure they didnt get away with it. -
Is Volvo Good Or Bad For Mack Trucks?
ThaddeusW replied to Barry's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I dont see how SCR will affect DPF. The SCR catalyst will come after the DPF and they both serve different purposes. The DPF catches particulate matter, aka soot. SCR (along with EGR) is there to reduce oxides of nitrogen. All in all it will be interesting to see what 2010 will bring us. Paccar is going to bring us their super high tech MX engine and they already offer two rebranded Cummins engines. Looks like Paccar is going to be the Cummins go-to for trucks. the only Engine maker that you might find in a truck besides the in house European derived engine is Cummins. International: IH, MAN and CAT Paccar: Cummins and Paccar-DAF MX Mack: Volvo Freightliner: Detroit Diesel and Mercedes Looks like the long history of engine freedom of choice in North American brands is about to end. -
Is Volvo Good Or Bad For Mack Trucks?
ThaddeusW replied to Barry's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I test drove one of those new conventional Hino's. It was very well designed on the inside and had great maneuverability. The bigger class 6 and 7 trucks have an all American drive line driven by a Hino engine. Same for the Big class 8 cabovers sold in Australia, Hino cab and engine driving Fuller trans and Meritor axles. Even the Big Hino engine (not here in the US/CA) has a Jacobs designed engine brake. -

ThaddeusW replied to Barry's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
International isn't the only one bashing SCR, MAN the German truck and Diesel engine maker behind the MAXXForce 11 & 13 started the bashing in Europe. In Europe DEF is called ADBlue and MAN came up with the slogan "Add Nothing". So of course IH is also jumping on the SCR bashing band wagon. But for big bore power SCR is used for the MAN D28 V8 and I am sure it will be nesessary for the MAXXForce/CAT engine (MAXXForce 15, 16?). With all the problems DPF's have given customers it makes sence to take advantage of the fact you can do away with SCR and keep the engine simpler. This will win over customers who are weary of SCR, especially after dealing with DPF. EGR + DPF + SCR = allot of crap to break down and maintian, the less the better. -
Its the fancy trim package.
