  1. WOW thanks for those uploads! It is depressing to see how well the E9 did in the trials and then the programs were scrapped. I can only imagine how that fishing boat sounds with two 950 HP E9's, must really growl. The military E9 looks down right mean. Too bad Mack had a falling from grace and was scooped up by Volvo, imagine if the 90's were better for Mack. It would be awesome if the E9 was still around.
  2. Hi. Somehow I missed this post. Have you fixed the problem yet?
  3. HAHA yes that's the one! The ending was priceless.
  4. Yup. The Australian Titan had the E9 rated to 610 HP and 2050 ft/lbs of torque! Mack was able to compete with the 600HP CAT C16 and Cummins ISX/Signature 600HP. Unfortunately that ended around 2000/2001 during the beginning of the Volvo take over. Renault Powered their AE with the E9 which was known as the Magnum AE, everyone loved the Magnum AE so much they called all AE's Magnums. The name stuck to the point where Renault changed the name to Magnum. All Magnums were powered by the E-tech and E9's. You will see many Magnums decorated with half bull dogs and MACK lettering. Here is a , you can see he has Mack lettering on the truck . Some people hate the look of the Magnum but it gained allot of respect in Europe because of the engines. For a while I think it was the most powerful truck in Europe.
  5. The E9 came out in the very late 70's to replace the 866/865. It reached 500 in the mid 80's before the E7 came out, at the time the most powerful 6 cylinder was the E6 350. So in the 80's before the E7 the E9 was king and Mack's big power engine. Then in the early 90's they had trouble with emissions laws and it looked as if Mack wasn't going to have any compliant engines. The E9 was their biggest engine and biggest problem. But in Europe and Australia they bumped the power up way beyond 500, 560 in Europe and 610 in Australia. Their emissions weren't as tough at the time. The European and Australian E9's even came with electronics in the mid-late 90's. Emissions prevented the E9 from breaking 500HP in the USA and Euro emissions finally killed the E9 in Europe. Demand dropped and then Volvo took over and the E9 was laid to rest. Shame really. Mack could have offered the 610HP 2050 Ft/lbs E9 in the US to compete with CAT and Cummins 600HP monsters.
  6. We have South Park fans here huh? I pretty much downloaded every episode and enjoy watching them over and over. What a damn clever and funny show, my mother even likes it! If you don't have cable or are impatient and you have a high speed internet connection go to http://www.southparkstudios.com/ and watch the full episode there (click the red full episodes button in the upper left). They make you sit through only a few commercials and you can watch every episode from seasons 1-12 and season 13 as they are allowed to show them. Pretty much South Park on demand. My favorite episode is "scott tenorman must die" from the 5th season, great ending.
  7. WOW!That is an awesome mix of colors! You need to post bigger high resolution pictures! These little thumb nails are just a painful tease.
  8. Oh that's definitely a problem when it comes to getting stuck! Air is best left to the highways and paved roads, Camel Back is the best for the dirt! Plenty of guys want that smooth ride and then start crying when they get stuck. I remember hearing Mack Air ride is nothing more than Hendrickson HAS air suspension.
  9. Next time you do that just put the truck in high gear and chock the wheels. Wont work if you have an auto though.
  10. You don't need that much heat to get them to expand. You only need a few hundred degrees, and even though tempratures of about 270 degrees can temper steel it usually takes a while to happen. So heating the rail and then trying to seperate it quickly might work. But good point on the rust acting as glue. I guess brute force is the best method at the moment.
  11. Could heating the outside rail with a torch and then cooling the inner rail with a squirt from a water hose help any?
  12. I am sorry but after reading "dynaturd" I laughed so hard I nearly pissed myself.
  13. I rarely seem them except on long haul trucks and tankers. For long haul they do help with weight and fuel savings. The tankers are always looking to shave weight and the super singles do help in that area. But for vocational or any where off road work is done they are nearly absent. The only vocational trucks I see with super singles are the all wheel drive front discharge mixers. They are popular in Europe though. Many dump trailers have them as well as just about every other trailer in Europe. They even have low profile 19.5 super singles for trailers. They still use duals in very heavy situations though. Super Singles have their place and its up to the operator to evaluate them for use.
  14. I assume the B755 was re powered with the 865/866. Otherwise its an 864. They are easy to spot, they had a rotary injection pump and usually no turbo. The turbo models were twin turbos with each bank of 4 cylinders feeding its own turbo with exhaust and both turbos feeding the intake manifold. I have a bunch of pictures of an 864 in an R715. The 864 I doubt had spin on oil filters, a Luberfiner would have been the norm. I could be wrong though.
  15. For that I am pretty sure all you need to do is go to a Mack dealer, give them lots of money and they will program the ECU for 405HP . Its silly to charge so much for a simple software update, something that has been done for free with computers for ages. It bet its only a few bytes (maybe even bits!) to tell the ECU to work at 405HP. I doubt there are any Blixton like modules for the MP7 unless someone knows of one. This new stuff is going to get to the point where modding the engine for more power is going to be impossible without breaking the law.
  16. The MP7 is only rated to 405HP, beyond that the MP8 is used to 485HP. Anything beyond 405HP on an MP7 and your going to have to play with turbo's and computer settings with a chip. And that's hoping its a pre-2007 emissions truck. Screwing with the emissions systems can cause all kinds of problems and is illegal .
  17. Since I am hijacking this thread I thought I would throw in some Physics/Government humor: A new addition to Chemistry's Periodic Table. Research has led to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every action with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2-6 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.
  18. Guy passes a gas station in a red neck town and notices a big sign that reads "Free sex with every fill up!" Interested in free sex the guy pulls in and fills up. He then proceeds to the cashier and is behind another fella who tries to claim his prize. The fella asks for the free sex and the cashier replies "pick a number from 1 to 10". The fella says "SEVEN" cashier replies:"Sorry bud, you were close but the number was SIX." Now the guy goes up and asks if he too could claim the free sex. Again the cashier asks for a number and the guy says "FIVE!" "Oh you were close but the number is FOUR" says the cashier. The guy walks away annoyed and sees the fella who was ahead of him getting in his car. The guy makes a comment to him: "That free sex game is BS, its rigged!" Fella replies "No that aint true, my wife won twice last week!" Belated Easter joke: The egg said said to the boiling water "It might take a while for me to get hard, I just got laid by some chick." Badoon ttsss! Thank you, thank you, ill be here all week, try the veal.
  19. LOL I think we are all confused. Reading what Rob wrote again tells it like this: Stop pushed in which lets engine run: Power to the wire. Stop pulled out which kills the engine: No power to the wire. In addition the switch is fed via a relay that is switched on or off by an in cab switch. So its opposite of what a starter bumping switch should have. Trent might be right, it could be there to power a trailer accessory.
  20. Running to the rear of the truck? Hooked to anything? Any other wires running back up front? If there was another wire running back to the front and the switch worked the opposite then it would be for a starter bumping switch. Some guys have a button on the rear of the truck that bumps the starter when the truck is shut off so they can easily hook up trailer draw bars. Just leave the truck in reverse and go around back, lift the draw bar and then bump the starter to bring the truck back to get the eye into the coupler. Often found on transfer dump trucks.
  21. 2007 Granite, MP7 or ASET engine? The easy way to tell between the two: MP series engines were painted red, the ASET was gray or black I think. If its a dump truck from what you list in your sig then 370 might be enough. Is it a tandem or tri axle and how much weight are you grossing?
  22. Wait, do you have the older single counter shaft TRT that sat behind the Thermodynes or the tripple countershaft Maxitorque series two stick six speed? They are both very different gear boxes. What kind of truck is this setup in? I see you have B models but just making sure. To be honest the older TRT series is not a good transmission for the Maxidyne. Not only are they not as strong as the Maxitorque but they are not setup for the wide torque band making the gear splits kinda useless. If its a show truck that isn't loaded and you want an engine that's easier to find parts for, your okay as long as you are careful with the shifting. The torque of the Maxidyne can tear up the duplex/triplex/quad. If its a work truck then save the duplex for another truck and go with a 2 stick/air shift 6 speed or even a 5 speed if you dont need a low gear. Some people have reported their TRT's are holding up behind the Maxi's but they don't make parts for them anymore. That right there is in itself a reason to not have an old duplex behind a Maxi.
  23. Well I can tell you the engines were Renault 190-250HP 8 liter engines. I don't think Renault actually designed the engine but re branded a Deutz or other make (though I am pretty sure its Deutz). Getting a larger engine in there will be a huge project as you might have to play with the cab, hood and frame. Rob will know better as he has some experience with these trucks. There was a larger conventional Renault in Europe known as the C series. It was popular for dump and mixer applications.
  24. Holy smokes. That would make me feel very uneasy! Just looked up Norfolk Island and man its tiny. Pretty much 10 miles across in both directions and 1000 miles off the east coast of Australia from Brisbane. Looks like a nice place for vacation (holiday) though.
