  1. First off is the plumbing all original? If original it should be a single circuit air system and the foot valve should have only 2 air lines hooked to it. The only way a good foot valve will leak from the exhaust port is when your getting air fed back to the valve from somewhere else. You have to trace the line from the foot valve delivery port (the port that feeds the brake chambers) and see where it leads to. You should/might have a relay valve at the rear to feed each of the four brake chambers on the drives. That could be the problem. I would first disconnect the delivery port from the foot valve and run the engine to see if any air is coming out of the delivery hose. There shouldn't be as long as you foot is off the valve and no air should come from the foot valve either. So if that happens trace the line and see what it hooks to next. Do the brakes feel like they are dragging? I ask because if there is air pressure in the brake lines then they might be slightly applied. Do you have an air dryer or filter from the compressor?
  2. What ever happened to Nigel AKA roadusercharges? He was from New Zealand and even sent me two used sets of Wabco Duomatic air line couplers, the standard used in Kiwi. He charged me nothing. He even sent me a real nice full color used truck magazine that had everything from heavy Japanese, European and American trucks. Real nice guy. Last seen june 2008 and made one post. Before that it was 2006! He used to pop in and post every now and then.
  3. LOL
  4. I found out they moved and don't know where they went to. They are still listed in the phone books so I believe they are still in business. They had a B and a C model tucked away as well, both kept garaged their entire life in mint condition. A cousin of theirs also ran a B model but I haven't seen him in years. Would like to know where all the iron went.
  5. Awwww too bad I couldn't make it. Had to cover for someone who was unable to work Saturday at the last minute. I really wanted to see that Titan.
  6. I never worked on dayton wheels but I do believe you have the setup backwards. The hub cap must go on first to ensure a proper seal and then the half moon bracket goes on top of that. Then you just bolt it up.
  7. I read up on this and The 12 speed is indeed the same as 1070 but with the addition of yet another aux section that was either a stick or dash mounted air switch. It gave you two very low gears like a 2 stick 6 speed. You kept the switch/stick in hi for on road stuff and you had 10 forward and 5 reverse gears. Set the switch/stick to lo and you used only first and second for two deep reduction gears. From what I hear its one heck of a big tranny.
  8. Those heavy L models look great as a tipper. I saw a mint LFSW and tried to see if the owner would sell but they wouldn't let it go. The truck was in the family since new and the owners father started their business with this truck in 1944. Kept inside its whole life so it was in excellent condition. They swapped out the gasser or Lanova diesel for a 237 with a 5 or 6 speed. The box in the pictures below isnt original, just kept on the truck for storage. Good luck with your "new" L, keep it a dump!
  9. Yea she is a total MILF. But seriously I think they chose her to offset the old geezer appearance of McCain. I am now looking to see if she has any "intern" positions open.
  10. Munzo Jr. : Very nice Diamond Reo. You have really taken good care of it. Good to see it still working. A truck with a Deutz is a very rare find. Would ove to see one up close but I believe only Diamond Reo and Marmon used those engines. And finding one of those trucks is almost impossible to begin with. Here is a picture of one:
  11. Hi monty, Well how about rigging up a hose or two that will hook to the tyres and use the air in them to fill the air starter tank. Then use the same hoses to fill them back up. Air start tanks are about 227L (60 gallons) in volume so that little compressor should take care of the problem in a matter of minutes.
  12. The 673 I have has a tu-flo 500. That compressor design has been around for decades and parts should be very easy to come by.
  13. Rob, Most compressors have the same two ports, the delivery and the unloader port. I have only seen one compressor from bendix that for some reason needs an inversion valve (like a logic NOT gate) to properly operate the compressor. I would take it as I am not sure if they even make the V8 flanges anymore.
  14. Check this link out. Scroll down to the the red superliner. It has an 8v92 and 13 speed. There is even a decent shot with the hood open.
  15. Wow those are a pair of wicked looking dogs! What does the R model have for power? Any under the hood shots?
  16. Time to re-elect a new governor Rob . D2 is just fine, 2 ports needed. one from the air tank and then one to the unloader port. plug the air dryer port if you don't have an air dryer.
  17. WTF? Looks like the dummy forgot to set the parking brake. Well at least no one was hurt and the truck is in still in one piece. I bet the dozer will be fine, just get another and a cable and upright it. those things are built pretty damn good.
  18. Actually 12R24.5 tires are common on 58's nowadays. 12900 doesent sounds pretty darn good for only 75k miles on it but those could have been some real hard miles. Maybe the odo rolled or was replaced(kinda doubt it though)?
  19. Lets hope so. It would allow Mack to compete with International and Freightliner in the Class 6/7 market while also offering a low tare truck for heavy construction work or local tractor trailer work. It has a very short BBC of only 106 inches and setback axle so its perfect for city delivery or mixer use (which is what it is geard toward in Aust.)
  20. ! Looks better then the old version with a granite like hood. New to the truck is the Cummins ISL up to 350HP, Mack transmissions and Mack axles/suspensions and axles up to 52k. The previous generation Metroliner had only Cummins ISC and meritor/spicer axles and vendor suspesions and tandem drives were limited to 46k.
  21. Barry, Good stuff. LOL. Keep up the good work.
  22. WHAT! Wow thats the ultimate forplay. Barry thats nothing but iorn pron LOL. I hope that is the operator's significant other, one lucky bas%^$d. Pure skill.
  23. Never mind the gasket blowing. First gen 864 v8 parts are becoming as hard as to come by as hens teeth. Better baby that v8 for shows.
  24. Here is the new metroliner. Apparently they are using the old granite grille design. Interesting.
  25. That truck is just plain awesome. If only there were more four door R cabs, would make one hell of a pickup truck.
