  1. The idea is not to look dumb. Two people giving out proper advice to avoid malware will make the spammer think twice about posing links to malicious websites. I would advise everyone yto follow my advice. Oh and put your PC behind a firewall, either one built into windows or one in your router/modem for cable/dsl/fiber.
  2. This is an odd question to ask on this forum, certainly off topic. But I will say this, if you have high speed internet (cable/dsl/fiber) then you have a bigger problem then internet explorer. I hope you have a good up to date anti virus/spyware program like AVG, if not then get it for free: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-spywa...e/lng/us/tpl/v5 Install it, reboot then open it and get any updates. then run a full system scan. If AVG will not run or install then your computer is swamped with some real malicious malware that prevents and even disables anti virus software. Your computer might be a zombie and part of a bot net sending spam email, DoS attacks etc. It also helps to use firefox instead as its not so damn intertwined with the operating system that simple exploits wont let malicious code be run. Hope this helps.
  3. Sorry about this lengthly post but: As for power curves international is claiming full torque starting at 1000 RPM with their MAXX Force/MAN engines. Those guys at MAN know Diesel engines, Diesel invented it while working there. And the Swedes aren't slouches either, they are on the ball too. I would like to see the automatic transmission for the MP10. It sure ain't gonna be an Allison and the eaton 2 pedal autos are a joke. I gotta rant a bit and say that Eaton/fuller has to be the poorest excuse for automating a manual transmission. It looks like a 2 year engineering students final project (I could do a better job for petes sake). They shift worse then a 2 week truck driver graduate. An Allison that could take the full 2050 or 2250 ft/lbs weighs about 2200 pounds which is the M6600 off highway model. The heavy duty 4700 7 speed model can take 1850 foot pounds and weighs 1070 pounds. The only auto for the MP10 would be the Volvo gear box, and we all know it will be used because more and more trucks are going auto. Plus the Volvo auto gear box weighs less then an Allison auto. The Europeans have their stuff together, single heavy countershaft, double cone synchronized, helical cut gears and they shift smoother then an Allison from what I hear. The trick is they use the same shifting setup thats used on those tiptronic car transmissions. 2 pistons per shift rack (proper term?) one to push the gear in and one to pull it out. this means that you can shift the next gear in while pulling the previous gear out ensuring a smooth as butter shift. and the synchros only help make it better. My friend has one of those new Volkswagon Passat's that has the tiptronic and man its as smooth as a torque converted transmission. Why are the Europeans so on the ball? Easy most of those truck manufactures are from different countries so it becomes an international competition. No one wants to be the country with the crappy trucks. Even if they are from the same country the competition is fierce. Here in the USA its all the same; IH, Sterling, Freightliner are the low end, Paccar the fancy high end and Mack the tough as nails no bull s--- trucks (id say Western star falls in between). Daimler Chrysler has just about killed off detroit diesel discontinuing the series 50 in favour of the MBE900 and the series 60 will soon go out to pasture. The MBE4000 and possibly the Mercedes 16L V8 diesel like those found in the Actros will replace them (there was a V8 Freightliner test model made). We will continue to see more and more European truck technology introduced. Face it the Europeans are taking over because we are well behind in terms of comfort, braking, handling, and safety (for petes sake why do we still have drum brakes on every axle?!). Times change and here in the USA we are resistant to change. It looks like the Europeans are starting to push things along for better or worse.
  4. I gotta say it still looks better then most of the newer stuff on the road. Damn sharp!
  5. So I guess the pinnacle axle foward is the CH replacement?
  6. 70's-80's Why? RW/Superliner R700 MH/Ultraliner F series W series
  7. Ok trying to sort out the V8's. First off the 86x series were the first of the V8's starting with the 864. If I got this down the 864 was offered in a 250hp or there abouts non turbo and a twin turbo model at up to 325 HP and it was hooked to a triplex/quad box. What year was it introduced (60's?) Was the dynatard introduced with this engine or the 865/866? The 865 was a turboed V8 that produced 325hp and was a wide torque band so it was hooked to a 5/6 speed. The 866 was similar to the 865 but it produced 375hp (any of them aftercooled?) Also what years did they come out? Now the 998cid was the new v8 that came toward the end of the 70's or early 80's and was the predecessor to the E9 correct? It was air-air aftercooled and had a horse power range of 400-440/450. was the 998 the same as the E9? Or, is the E9 the 1000cid that was the successor to the 998? Also the E9's lowest horspower was 440 and went to 500 or did it go from 400-500? I know down under they cranked it up to 610hp and 2050ft/lbs. Thanks for the help.
  8. http://hankstruckpictures.com/espinosa.htm Scroll down and there are a bunch of scans takes from Allis Chalmers brochures.
  9. I have pictures of a Pete with a 3412. here is a link to the pics in hanks forum: http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/forum01/...hp?topic=5732.0
  10. Lovely macks you have there. I like the large car Cruiseliner .
  11. When any why did Mack retire the CF? All the volunteer fire departments use the retired FDNY trucks. Shame mack stopped the fire equipment business. MR's are still used for emergency equipment trucks for both the FDNY and the NYPD.
  12. I assume it is a feature of the Invision boards. If the moderator wants certain forums to have pay for access he can do so by using that feature. This forum is 100% free so that feature isnt used on this site.
  13. Welcome abord Trashman! Good to see you here.
  14. Forgive my ignorance but what exactly does spark advance do? Does advance make the plug fire closer to top dead center or further down during the power stroke?
  15. Ok question, what is that thing in the center of the steering wheel? I Saw it at Macungie on an AC and it sorta looks like its ment to adjust something.
  16. I dont know how similar 10.00-20 are to 10.00R20 in terms of diameter but 10.00R20's are around 42 inches in diameter. 11R22.5 are about 42 inches in diameter and 12R22.5's are about 43 inches in diameter.
  17. I asked a similar question a while back and know this much: 20 inch dayton hubs take 20 inch tube type or 22.5 Tubeless wheels 22 inch dayton hubs take 22 inch tube type or 24.5 tubeless wheels 24 inch hubs take 24 tube type only, there isnt a tubeless 24 inch. The wheel mounting for daytons havent changed for a very long time so new 22.5 rims should fit.
  18. Thanks for that info!
  19. Wow what was its purpose? Some kind of toter maybe.
  20. Eh? Do you mean if the tank has a built in check vale that cannt be replaced or an external one? I don't know if they use a check valve on the wet tanks. Maybe for accessories but the primary and secondary tanks have the check valves with pressure protection on them. It would be foolish to integrate a check valve with the tank.
  21. I was thinking lighter since you can cut the battery count to just one. Also wether its winter or summer the starter will have the same pressure to crank the engine with no problem. I agree with granitefan713 since there isnt a spec sheet availible on line for the mp7 granite yet, just a simple brochure and a cornerstone chassis brochure. Even the regulat granite spec sheets that listed component availibility also had many foot notes which basically said more options availible, ask your dealer.
  22. Well she did work for the postal service and they have nothing but air starters on every truck I have seen. I hear they have lower maintence then an electric and usually outlast an electric starter by a factor of at least 3. That sound they make is also pretty cool.
  23. Was the Lanova engine the first Mack diesel? Was the 673 the successor to the Lanova? Lanova --> 673/thermodyne --> 676/maxidyne --> E6 --> E7 --> ASET and now the MP7. Am I missing anyhting?
  24. I wonder too. It is a nich market but Mack did play in that field a while back with their M series and the short lived cl350 logger. Heck didnt they have their own planetary axles too? I saw a Mack RD888SX logger with 110K Mack rears on it and steel hood, beautyful piece of machinery. Kenworth and Western Star have the speciality markets all to them selves.
