I would also use oils for vintage engines with elevated levels of ZDDP/ZDTP, they're offered by many suppliers (I get mine from Napa or the Edlebrock or Risoline additive alone from Advanced Auto). Regardless, if you are purchasing off-the-shelf oil for your classic car, ILSAC multi-viscosity oils rated SM or CJ-4 should have stated zinc and phosphorus additive supplements for use in older engines or an additional separate additive should be purchased and used with the new oil. The new API rating SN becAme available in 2013 even more caution should be taken as the levels will be reduced even further. The use of zinc and phosphorus additives helps prevent lifter and cam wear on the older engines more so from the late 1950's and older. Paul

MACK developed a 14.5 liter 885 c.i. "big" six between 1978-1982 and never put it in production. Why? Most likely the lack of need or the coming EPA regulations.

The AC in my 70 Autocar is 450 h.p. at about 2000 rpm, way ahead of anything around then. Broke cranks like the early Cummins but AC didn't really stand behind them.. Biggest draw back was no dealer network. Need parts or service you had to go the an AC Heavy equipment dealer.

The Challengers never had more than a few gallons in them at any time. they were never titled for the street only bought to race. Monte got good mileage with 2:94 gears, Camino had 3:08s and was decent on gas.My 55 chevy with 5:38's and 27.5 tall rubber gets 3 1/2 on a good day but takes 2 hours for the grin to leave my face , My 72 Superglide gets 12 per or 45 miles to the tank. The funnycar in 73 got 4 1/2 gallons of alcohol to the 1/4 mile. My El Dorado was good on gas about 19 on the highway. 2 tanks from Riverhead L.I. to Fork Union Va. Only worry about mpg in my trucks. Both my wife's cars get the mpg and are not embarrassing foreign crap, so we travel in them.

Can't run them. My ignition is an MSD Pro Mag 44 amp Magneto (takes 16 volts to power it up to run independent) 50.000 volts at plugs through 9 mm copper core wires with minimum plug gap of 080. All that power is needed to fire the plugs with 40 pounds of boost and 14 to1 "running" compression. I get one run maybe 2 out of the plugs before the electrode is burned away. Could not get the minimum gap with those types of plugs or be able to index them in the chamber.

A 6 volt starter will work for a while. 12 volt = more voltage less amps. Need Gen , regulator and light bulbs. I would convert to 12 volt one wire alternator instead of generator,
