  1. Welcome! Your MACK sounds like a great project too. Paul
  2. The charge air cooler is mounted on the engine instead of the radiator.. I was told by a MACK Museum person that it was mounted on the engine to not add length to the nose for the old bridge formula. The 285 is air to air and the 350 is water/air to air
  3. Why the turd on the table??
  4. Feed from water pump to charge cooler and return line was also near the water pump. I can't fine the MACK exploded parts diagram right now for it. From what I recall the 320 and the 350 h.p. engines aside from the 40/60% Water/ Air Charge cooler also had a bigger turbo's. 300 h.p. , 300 + (320 h.p.) and 350 h.p. Paul
  5. All the info I have is it hauled top soil up to the late 1980's. 1964 B-53 ex Consolidated Concrete mixer chassis from Canada, 673, quad box double rail fish belly chassis
  6. November 1978 Over Drive http://
  7. Alcoa is somehow involved with the concept. If you have got to drive a blob truck, than this would be tolerable.
  8. Here is my Marlin D/SA. Had a 060 over AMC 343 and a Twin Stick Flash O Matic.. Now has a spent 401. Pick was taken before the New York National Speedway Reunion 3 years ago at E town. http:// Having raced since new a 71 440 six pak Challenge with a Torque Flight, and a 1971 Cuda 440 six pak with a 4 speed the same season, the auto was 3 tenths quicker. I ran them both in SS/CA and SS/C. Even in 1972, my Alcohol Funnycar ran a Vitar prepped Torque Flight. My 1971 340 Duster ran tri power and a 4 speed . My 55 has been a race car since 1962 and over the years run a Saginaw 3 speed, a M22 Muncie, a power glide and a Dual Range Hydro, all behind both big and small blocks carbs, injection and even a 4/71 supercharger. Now it's running a 727A Torque Flight behind my Wayne Cross Flow headed Algon injected 320 GMC 6. I like both trans types. My 70 Hurst Chrysler will end up with a paddle shifted 8 speed. When the original owner bought the Javelin new he was close to 50 and his wife drove it. He was 94 when he died last summer.
  9. Kind of an interesting design exercise, working the Bull Dogs face into it. Paul
  10. Great info. I raced road courses also. The Bridge and Lime Rock with a Yenko Phase III Corvair and a Crown Corv-8. Drag raced including getting my AHRA, IHRA and UDRA Funnycar license. Ran Gas classes, Super Stock, AA/FC and even a pro street drag bike. Still like the twisties though, that's the reason for my Valkyrie. Paul
  11. I 'm all pre emissions but most I know who run the Granite's( Horan, and Bromans on L.I. and Shaw Construction in Maine) have no more problems than other makes and may be even less because of their maintenance schedules.
  12. Gabrielli sells Mack , Volvo Kenworth, Hino, Ford, Autocar and Isuzu. I know not all dealers in CT carry the full line.
  13. Mainly depends on how you drive and maintain it. Anything can get big miles if you take care of it and don't abuse it. Paul
  14. Never built any hot rod or bike for mileage. My 55 Chevy gets 65 miles to the tank or about 6 -6 1/2 per mile,on a good day, my Valkyrie gets 12 on the highway and 9 around town. Of course my rides are mostly track/ barely street able. You need to worry about mpg buy a smartcar.
  15. Massachusetts too.
  16. Sitting in the trailer until after Christmas. I took it around the block before I loaded it up, with the 4:10's it is ballsy
  17. Is the seal an O ring style or a Square ring style or a lip seal?
  18. A member KEG1 id a step by step replacement on his Superliner. Hopefully some one can link the thread.
  19. You have municipal workers who could care less about the quality, can't fire them so why care. Plus road construction in much of Europe, particularly Germany, the construction must be guaranteed for a specific number of years (25 comes to mind). Any defects in design or construction comes out of the companies pocket and /or performance bond. Watched an inspector on the L.I.E. do a slump test, the results were just below acceptable. He okayed the load because he was going home after the test.
  20. Good for you!!! Families who talk things over and help each member make positive decisions (with enough nudging to make the best choices) seem well ahead of the curve. Paul
  21. Career Counselor is still working. Two of the main tech class problems in N.Y. was the need for liability insurance in case of any injury (Cold Spring Harbor was sued and lost to the tune of $550,000 for a few stitches on a leg caused by rough housing) and lack of teachers for any tech classes from Wood Shop, CAD, Metal shop, Automotive and even Home Economics. Counselors are saying what the parents want to hear, than parents and schools are not doing their jobs and passing the buck. Did you force your children to go into a career they really didn't want to be in? We discussed our children's career options and possible results of their choices and gave them alternative choices. They all turned out happy in their careers. Two went to college and they are working in the fields they wanted from the beginning.one is Senior VP of development at Light Path, one is a software developer and one is a restoration carpenter for Mystic Sea Port.
  22. See you didn't specify Mack O Matic.
