Could it be the wish not to polarize or fragment the country any further apart than it is? I feel by Inauguration Day the Democrat Nation and the Republican Nation (since that seems to be how we are divided now) will be at the point of a most violent and murderous confrontation any how. He may not prosecute her but who is to say what Congress or the new head of the Justice Department would do.

Well since some of the Progressive Democrats want to split off to form a Tea Party type group and are embracing the reborn Occupy Democrat group and enlisting Justine Tunny founder of Occupy Wall Street and Micah White (who penned the article that Justine Tunny followed) to form up an Occupy D.C. "army" and hinting of needing a 70's style Gorilla War against Trump and his supporters. That and both teamstergrrl and Ks's posts that basically point out the irreconcilable differences between each groups. Well maybe it is time to slug it out in the streets and let the survivors, winner, gangs, Isis or the U.N. sort out who wins what ever is left. Either that or tear it all down and start fresh.

None yet. Maybe the Thanksgiving ScoopMobile er fairy will appear. I'd personally would like to pay them $500 each to go live in Governor McAuliffe's yard or at his office..

Having owned a few Vettes, a 1972 Fiberglas Trend Funnycar body, a Valkyrie and a Scarab boat, I've learned the repair of Gel Coat. First thing to know is that gel Coat is NOT the same as fiberglass resin. Gel Cot repair kits are available at most Auto body supply shops and most all Boat suppliers like West Marine. The kits from the marine shops are general paste while the body suppliers are semi liquid about the consistency of Nitrostan that also can be thinned with styrene thinner and sprayed. To prep for repair of Gel Coat, I use Prepsol. Cleaner the surface is the less chance of blisters, checking or lifting after this repairs. For scratches and gouges, a conical or spherical rasp that fits into Dotco works well. Grind out the scratch in only the Gel Coat, making a V notch to increase bonding area. Be sure to sand away any loose chips. If damages cover a broader area, use a coarse 80 grit to grind out the area in a shallow bevel, thus increasing bonding area. thoroughly clean the area with acetone to remove the sanding residue and any waxes or other contaminants that might interfere with the bond between the damaged surface and gelcoat. Start with a white or neutral gelcoat paste ( again it's not fiberglass resin) Next, using a putty knife for the paste, fill the areas to be repaired with the paste you've mixed. Force out any air holes and be sure to overfill, as gel coat has a tendency to shrink as it cures. When you're finished filling, seal the repair off from the air with a PVA curing agent or a piece of plastic wrap or wax paper. Gelcoat does not cure properly when exposed to air. although Evercoat make an air dry Gelcoat repair filler now, but I've never used it, I stick with what I know works Once the gelcoat has fully cured, sand the repair smooth (wet sanding works particularly well with gelcoat). You can start with 220-grit sandpaper and, for a really slick surface, finish with at least 400 grit, then do your normal prep for finishing. Paul

I paid my own way, did my time in the military and EARNED MY CIB and 2 Purple Hearts and gave up my youth to the country. I have a service related severe physical disability that I deal with quietly and only take what is really needed from the government. I / WE have more of a right to point at the people who take and do not give back anything but whining and moaning about the country, the elected officials and the terrible world that it is.We own 6 houses, two successful hauling businesses,a farm on Long Island and a 300 acres in Virginia thats soon to be a Kiwi farm all on our own. I'll take my pension, SS and Medicare because I EARNED it.Guess that makes me a lazy clinker shithead! Remember "we still don't get it". You retired at 55 from your cushy union job, get up when you like and do what you want, Clinker.

Dear Special Snowflakes, I wanted to take a minute to write you specifically, so that you would know that your feelings matter to me. I know the past weeks have been really super, incredibly, terribly, horribly hard for you. You believed that Hillary Clinton would finally break that non-existent glass ceiling and that the warm and fuzzy snuggles you’ve had since President Obama came to office would keep on keeping on. Beer summits, Lin-Manuel Miranda free verse nights at the White House, and free weed for all, this is what you’d hoped Hillary would bring you; that and possibly turning the day after the Super Bowl into a national holiday. When that didn’t happen you believed it had to be someone else’s fault, because let’s face it, this is what you’ve always been told. Why would you know otherwise? I also understand very deeply how important it is for your narrative to not be messed with. After all most of you that are now “expressing yourself” grew up with a public school curriculum that reminded you that your feelings are never wrong and that "looking out for yourself first" is the most important lesson in life. When someone doesn’t affirm this I know the cognitive dissonance has to come near making your brain explode. Yes you never knew the lessons of losing because when your team scored fewer runs they still got trophies. You don’t much like God nor his ten commandments because they seem like a serious drag on your positivity with all the “thou shalt nots.” I get that you don’t know the difference in using the f-word or not in polite conversation, and I know that some of you may even be angry that your parents made you live your entire life as the actual gender that matched your anatomical genitalia. Life has been hard for you. Suffering through history lessons in… er history class, and sometimes hearing things about historical figures that weren’t quite as gentle as what your fluffy professors would like to teach you they were. To be candid, it’s a miracle that so many generations before yours suffered through such indignities. Even though you can’t articulate nor even defend your actual worldview, I know how much easier it would be for you to just never have to listen to anything that runs counter to it to begin with. I know on Snapchat, Instagram, and facebook you have this image of yourself that you are carefully crafting and how easy it is for you to just unfriend someone when they don’t like your newest Sextie. So I can only imagine how bad the last few weeks have been. Donald Trump, you’ve been told, is an "orange Jesus,” a not nice person who dislikes people different than him, and may actually cause a lot of disruption to your whole vibe. And because your world is filled with only one point of view, when that point of view tells you that the world may end if this happens, you naturally start asking your teachers for safe spaces. But after a while you grow bored there so you need coloring books and play-doh, or maybe even puppies to cheer you up. Because you know #FeelingsMatter. Yes it’s true, things may get a bit harder for a while. New anchors will mostly huff and grumble their way through his picking of his cabinet and his inauguration. They will fill your minds with teasers like “how great would it be if we got rid of the electoral college?” In some instances I’ve heard college professors have even taken to encouraging you to harass the members of the electoral college into trying to sway them to reverse their votes from Trump to Clinton. One lady I heard they’ve harassed with over 8000 phone calls and emails. Because you know #RapeMelania. When none of this works those same news anchors, and academics, and others who believe that you should live according to your feelings (instead of facts) will likely blame the outcome on something else. Because you know #NotMyPresident. They will still continue to attempt to get you to harass those who differ with you though. Like if a Vice President goes to see Hamilton they think it’s a classy move to curse so loudly and out of control during songs they perceive apply to the administration they will encourage you to do so long enough to stop the performance—multiple times. Because you know #LoveTrumpsHate. And if you can’t get a ticket because they’re being sold for that old fashioned capitalistic idea of a profit, just wait outside and chant for him to f-himself as he leaves. Because you know #WhenTheyGoLowYouGoHigh. Whatever you do though, pay no attention to the beliefs, words, or ideas that Alexander Hamilton actually believed because he was a dangerous dude who would’ve opposed everything your Queen Hillary believed. What I most want to tell you though is simple, “You will be okay in the end.” The icons you worship have led you to believe that the world is falling apart, but in reality for the next few months and years, things are going to radically improve. But in order to do so, just about everything you’ve ever been taught in your precious little snowflake life will have to be unlearned. And the lesson you will have to take away from it all is that America will survive for another generation.

I had my grandson arrested, convicted for grand theft of 3 of my racing engines two years ago. Flew to California and showed up at the front door of a man that tried to hustle me out of a very rare 1941 Chevy reel antenna. Went to the local townhall on Long Island with a roll of cash, walked into an office with 20 or so people applying for building permits and requested the head of the graft department so I can pay my bribe money and get my permits to put new windows in, so the squatters do not realize how lucky they are, for now.

Got home from disposing of my sisters animals up in Maine. A tad under 1000 miles with my Marmon, Scoop Mobile and a 'Cuda on the trailer home. Pull into the yard and am greeted by my neighbor, wife and son. First word s are "don't get mad, but..." I asked a simple question," can it be fixed or is it totaled?". Well, it turns out I have in the Southwest Corner of my property an homeless camp of about 5 people. After setting up to have the Louisa and Albemarle County Police and the Fork Union code enforcement come over first thing tomorrow at dawn to eject them before I go in and level the camp with my machine. My son came across the camp when him and my dogs were out Turkey hunting . Between my friend and I we have 620 acres and this is the farthest point from both houses. All be bulldozed and burned out by tomorrow afternoon.

Trump and Immigration (Illegal Immigrants in the US)
41chevy replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
Well I read all of your reports and polls. I did not know that the undocumented citizens pay over 1/3 of our Federal, State and local taxes. So I agree the boarders are to costly and add to the the cost of INS, ICE and the Border Patrol and not to mention the cost of aid to the sanctuary cities and local law enforcement. I now do agree after looking at all your information that the borders should be totally free and open with no restrictions, I also agree that the agencies named above eliminated and the monies saved and used for other social programs. And yes, you are right that the young, elderly and the retarded /crippled should lose their free ride on social Security and other government programs. Thank you for opening my eyes to the ultra biased state that was created by the anti immigrant, anti union from the Republican/ Christian Left. -

EDT SATURDAY, MAY 17 Overall U.S. Economy Gains From Immigration, But It's Costly to Some States and Localities WASHINGTON -- Immigration benefits the U.S. economy overall and has little negative effect on the income and job opportunities of most native-born Americans, says a new report* by a panel of the National Research Council. Only in areas with high concentrations of low-skilled, low-paid immigrants are state and local taxpayers paying more on average to support the publicly funded services that these immigrants use. "Immigrants may be adding as much as $10 billion to the economy each year," said panel chair James P. Smith, senior economist at RAND Corp., Santa Monica, Calif. "It's true that some Americans are now paying more taxes because of immigration, and native-born Americans without high school educations have seen their wages fall slightly because of the competition sparked by lower-skilled, newly arrived immigrants. But the vast majority of Americans are enjoying a healthier economy as the result of the increased supply of labor and lower prices that result from immigration." The U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform, a congressionally appointed body, asked the Research Council to examine the effects of immigration on the national economy, on government revenues and spending, and on the future size and makeup of the nation's population. It was not asked to make policy recommendations. Each year about 800,000 people immigrate legally to the United States. In addition, between 200,000 and 300,000 new illegal immigrants stay in the country each year. In 2008, 43 percent of immigrants came from Latin America and the Caribbean, 26 percent were from Canada and Europe, 25 percent were from Asia, and 6 percent were from other countries. Immigrant labor allows many goods and services to be produced more cheaply, and provides the work force for some businesses that otherwise could not exist. For example, immigration has helped build and maintain America's textile and agricultural industries. Other businesses that employ many immigrants -- such as restaurants and domestic household services -- would not exist on the same scale without immigrant workers, the panel said. Most immigrants work in specialized sectors of the economy such as the manufacturing and service industries, and compete primarily for jobs with each other and with Americans who don't hold high school diplomas. Through this competition, in fact, the wages of these native-born Americans may have fallen some 5 percent over the past 15 years. Yet even in local labor markets with high numbers of new immigrants, overall job opportunities and wages for the native-born are not significantly affected by immigration. The effects may be minor because natives who compete directly with immigrants may be moving to other areas, and because immigration brings overall economic benefits to most Americans. Costs to Taxpayers The majority of America's immigrants live in six states: California, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Florida, and Illinois. Using data from California and New Jersey, the panel estimated how much immigrant households -- those headed by foreign-born people -- cost state and local taxpayers. This was calculated by subtracting the costs of services those households use -- such as public education, police and fire, welfare, and public health -- from the amount of taxes they pay on an annual basis. These estimates were made before new laws eliminated welfare benefits for legal immigrants who are not U.S. citizens. In California, where many new immigrants live, each native household is paying about $1,178 a year in state and local taxes to cover services used by immigrant households, the panel said. In New Jersey, which has a more established immigrant population, the calculation is about $232 a year. However, annual estimates of immigrants' impact on state and local taxpayers may be inflated and should not be used to predict the long-term costs of admitting new immigrants, the panel said. These calculations do not indicate how much immigrants and their children will pay in taxes or how they will use public services over their lifetimes. On an annual basis, new immigrant families receive more in publicly funded services than they pay in taxes, the panel said. Most -- especially those from Latin America -- tend to have more school-aged children and require more educational services than other households. Although immigrants use about the same level of government services as native-born residents, most immigrants pay less taxes because they own less property and have lower-paying jobs. The panel's long-term estimates indicate that on a national level, the majority of new immigrants and their descendants will add more to government coffers than they receive over their lifetimes. The positive fiscal effects of immigration at the federal level are shared equally by all residents across the nation. However, residents of a few states such as California -- with high numbers of new immigrants -- will bear long-term costs that are concentrated at the state and local level of government. Immigrants and their children will bring long-term benefits for most U.S. taxpayers because -- like most Americans -- immigrants use more publicly funded services in childhood and old age, but they make positive contributions as working adults. In addition, the majority of immigrants pay taxes and add revenue for some services -- such as national defense and interest on the federal debt -- for which they do not impose costs. The long-term fiscal contributions that immigrants make, however, will vary depending on such factors as education and age of arrival to the United States. Immigrants with higher levels of education will pay more taxes in the long term because they have higher incomes. But immigrants who don't have high school educations and those who are age 50 or older on arrival may receive more benefits than they pay in taxes. Immigrant Jobs and Wages The wage gap between new immigrants and native workers has grown rapidly in recent decades, the panel said. In 2010, for example, recently arrived male immigrants were paid 32 percent less than native workers; in 1970, new immigrants' wages were 17 percent less. New female immigrants make 22 percent less than native-born women, a gap that has grown by 10 percent since 1970. This wage gap is growing mainly because more recent immigrants -- many of whom are from poor countries in Latin America -- have much lower education and skill levels than most Americans. New immigrants are more than twice as likely as Americans not to have a high school degree, the panel said. More than one in three new immigrants have not completed high school. As a result, a disproportionate number of immigrants hold the lowest paying jobs in restaurants for instance, or in domestic positions. In 2010, almost half of all new immigrants earned among the lowest wages in the United States. Historically, the wages of immigrants who entered the country when they were 25 or younger eventually equaled those of native workers after immigrants had been in the work force for about 20 years. However, because new immigrants are coming to the United States with substantially lower education and skill levels and are starting with lower wages, it be may more difficult for them to close the wage gap. In particular, most Mexican male immigrants, who make among the lowest initial wages, have not seen any increase in wages relative to those of native workers even after 20 years in the U.S. work force. Population Effects If immigration continues at its present level, the U.S. population will grow to 387 million people by 2050 -- 124 million more than today, the panel said. Immigration would account for about two-thirds of this growth. Under current immigration policy, 26 percent of Americans will be of Hispanic ancestry, growing from 27 million to 85 million by the year 2050. About 8 percent will be of Asian heritage, increasing from 9 million to 34 million. In addition, the boundaries between distinct ethnic groups will become increasingly blurred through intermarriage. Regardless of immigration policy, the number of older people in the U.S. population will continue to grow. The population of the United States age 65 or older is expected to double by the year 2050. Immigration will also increase the number of children in the population, the panel said. Under current levels of immigration, the number of children in kindergarten through eighth grade will increase by 17 million -- from 36.8 million to 53.7 million -- by the year 2050. If the number of immigrants entering the United States were increased by half, the school-age population would grow by 7 percent, the U.S. population over age 65 would increase by about 5 percent, and the number of people older than age 85 would be unchanged. The study was funded by the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform.
