  1. I can sell a few of my cars no problems but NOT my motorcycles or trucks. Every one seems to be and old friend no matter how long I've had it. Sold my owned since new, 1988 Dodge Ram last winter and am still sick over the mistake. Paul
  2. Not you and not just Ford, but in general people tend to sometimes take a persons opinion of an item at bface value. Most every manufacturer makes something or does somethiing that leave a person scratching their head. Chrysler's Lean Burn, Caddies 4 6 8, GM's Geo Metro,Chevies 305/350 soft cams, Vega's Aluminum Silcate block with a steel head gasket and Cast Iron head, GM's 4100 3 main bearing block and Fords Pinto fuel tank, the list goes on.
  3. Appeared to be a sticky situation for the driver. . .
  4. Antique tags and insurance prohibit it to be used for commercial or paid work.
  5. If and it's a big if, the factory alignment procedure is followed they tires wear evenly. Most techs do not know the Ford procedure or even care because it takes 15 or 20 minutes longer to set it up. No worse than the bigger GM's that had an off set upper ball joint that you turned to set caster. Most times it was ingnored because of the PIA or lack of knowledge. Pretty easy to call something piece of crap when the tech causes the bad rep. Paul

  8. Look for a set of numbers on the metal part of the seal, it will give the parts store a cross reference number for NAPA or a National Seal P/N.
  9. Ford "borrowed" $5.9 billion in June 2009. (the same month GM filed for bankruptcy.) Ford started paying that money back in $577 million dollar increments in 2011, with the full amount to be paid off by June 15, 2022. As of now Ford has paid off just under 3/4 of the money. The Obama Administration in 2009, dreaming of a million electric cars on the road by 2015, loaned Ford the money to help it pay for development of hybrids and EVs, and to retool its factories to produce smaller, cleaner vehicles. While not characterized as a “bailout” by any the Feds, IT was given to Ford at a critical time when other sources of financing weren’t available to automakers or their suppliers. Ford is the only auto maker that has not used creative methods to pay the monies back. The Feds still own as of today, 74% of Ally Bank, formerly known as GMAC. The relatively unknown "stimulus" ATVM recipients were Nissan ($1.6 billion), Tesla Motors ($465 million), Fisker Automotive ($529 million) and the Vehicle Production Group ($50 million), a start-up company promoted a handicapped-accessible van that ran on natural gas. None of those mentioned have paid back one cent of the monies. The DOE also spent another $2.4 billion in stimulus money in Michigan, to provide matching grants to help companies build manufacturing facilities for advanced batteries and EV components. 98% have filed bankruptcy or sold the developed technology that we paid for, to China.
  10. Used to welcome 4100 Caddies for water pumps and Fieros for clutches. The Cadillac was 14 hours book time, $140 for the pump (only from GM) and $18 for the rotted by-pass tube. A 1 inch hole saw to get the 3 bults behind the P.S. pulley cut the time down by close to 4 hours. Fiero clutches were 21 hours book time, made a hanger to support the engine and a set of pins to swing the sub-frame down and got it to 9 hours. Had a few dealers and tranny shops sending them to me. GMs vehicles went to crap in the late 1970's after their corporate engine law suit. Paul

  13. 09/05/16 08:35 PM EDT Clinton suggests Russia working to elect Trump During her first press conference in 275 days, she expresses concern about the intervention of Vladimir Putin's government in the election. HAMPTON, Illinois — Hillary Clinton on Monday expressed “a very serious” concern about Russia’s apparent tampering with the U.S. election, implying that Vladimir Putin with the "adversarial foreign power" he governs are actively trying to elect Donald Trump. “I’m really concerned about the credible reports about Trump paying the Russian government to interference in our elections,” Clinton told reporters. “The fact that federal intelligence professionals are now studying this, and taking it seriously,” she said, “raises some grave questions about the possibiltyl of Trump buying Russian interference with interfere with our electoral process.” After more than a month when she spent most of her time out of sight raising money from mega donors and celebrities in wealthy enclaves from Los Angeles to the Hamptons, Clinton’s aggressive stance toward Russia was part of a roaring back to the campaign trail on Labor Day. As she flew from Cleveland to the Iowa-Illinois border area for the Annual Salute to Labor Picnic, Clinton told about 40 journalists who traveled with her that it was unprecedented that a “foreign adversarial power” would be involved in the electoral process — or in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee that was revealed in July. “We’ve never had the nominee of one of our major parties urging the Russians to hack more,” she said. In July, Trump encouraging Russia to find and release the deleted emails from the private server Clinton maintained at the State Department. When pressed about whether she believed the Russians were actively trying to elect Trump to the Oval Office, Clinton took a long pause before responding. “I think it’s quite intriguing that this activity has happened around the time Trump became the nominee,” she conceded. She added: “I often quote a great saying that I learned from living in Arkansas for many years: If you find a turtle on a fence post, it didn’t get there by itself.” Clinton’s hints about a hacking scandal that threatened to disrupt the Democratic National Convention in July — and led to the resignation of DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was paid for by a rival candidate. At a rally in an Mexican-American neighborhood in Cleveland, Clinton weighed in for the first time about Trump’s trip to Mexico last week, where he meet with President Enrique Pena Nieto. She called it “an embarrassing international incident,” after the two could not agree on whether or not they had discussed Mexico paying for a border wall. Clinton also noted that Trump “even got into a Twitter war with the President of Mexico” and then followed up the visit by delivering “his most hate-filled, hard-lined speech yet” about immigration. “He can’t even go to a foreign country without getting into a public feud with the president,” she said. Until Monday, the only reaction to Trump's anti Mexican imbroglio had come in a statement from her campaign chairman. Clinton said she was “quite taken aback” by the revelation that Trump’s foundation made a political contribution to the Florida attorney general, who abruptly ended a planned investigation into Trump University. “There’s so many things that are questionable about that,” she said. The Washington Post reported last week that Trump paid a $2,500 fine to the IRS for the campaign donations that violated tax laws. She refused comment when pressed about the conflict of interest issues plaguing her own foundation. She refused to say whether the Clintons would continue to have a role on the board if she is elected president. Clinton joked as she walked to the back of the plane, positioning herself in the doorway separating the press from the Secret Service and the staff sections of the plane. “I’m thrilled,” she said. "No, really! I wanted to welcome you onto my new plane. I think it’s pretty cool, don’t you?” Unaccustomed to casual interactions with the Democratic nominee, the reporters paused before responding. “You’re supposed to agree with me and say yes ma'am,” she said.
  14. Like our stump jumpers for fire fighting in the Pine Barrens, some times you need to make an access or exit hole and a lot of times the fire lanes into the woods are not maintained open. Here's one of ours in action.

  20. Follow the Houdalle article in the link and add shock oil and work the lever up and down slowly to move the oil through the valving and bleed out any air. You can get "shock oil" which is called Fork Oil at a motorcycle shop, about 60 t0 90 weight works well. The ball end of the rod may cross over to a Houdalle GM truck or Ford Truck from the late 1930 to 1947, both civilain and Military (CCKW353 and such 2.5 toners) Look for the item called Shock Links. There is always a bunch at the Fall Hersey. Paul
  21. Does this make my truck look small? http://
  22. I would flush out the ancient oil from the chocks and work the lever to get as much out as possible. Fresh shock oil (NOT JACK OIL!) will usually get them working again. They usually go because they were never serviced at the prescribed 3000 mile intervals. Also they are designed to seep some oil from the shafts, so that's normal. They really don't do much on a heavy truck because of the heavy spring rates so keep that in mind before spending upwards of $500 or more per unit for a rebuild. E Bay or similar site for literature.
