  1. TJC is correct. It is an adjustable ripper-grader to break and grade it level it before paving. Mainly when you're going from tar and stone to macadam. Notice they are adjustable to do the crown. Paul
  2. The '55 I'm running an " old fashioned" Mallory Dual Point with an equally "old" Mallory Mag-Spark coil pack. Machined new shaft bushings a few years ago from brass pipe from Home Depot because there are no replacements. Never any problems. My Mustang I'm running a re curved OEM SVT FORD Dura Spark with an AL9 MSD box only because I need the Vacuum retard. I have a spare box installed but haven't used it. Saw a bunch of the Pertronix fail because the installer's leave in the resistor wire in the primary ignition circuit, under extended use the module fails. Those that read the installation instructions generally do not have the failures. Paul
  3. You Voters Have Let Us Down Again. Stupid Democracy! I don’t understand it! We super smart folks responsible for making the modern world a wonderland of peace, love, and flowers have told regular people, again and again: “You’re stupid and you’re racist and you need to sit silently and do what we, your superiors in every way, command.” Yet they totally haven’t listened. What the hell is wrong with these people? You just can’t reason with these slack-jawed, Jesus-loving morons in the rational, dispassionate way people like us prefer! They are impervious to logical, evidence-based arguments regarding their utter unfitness to determine the course of their own lives and to provide input into their own governance! Why won’t they get it? Science, right? Don’t they watch John Oliver each week as he DESTROYS everything they believe in? Time to face facts. Democracy is terrible and it must be stopped when it allows other people the ability to control their destiny. Hey, that’s our job. Take Brexit – they totally got it wrong because they simply failed to understand EU membership was so good for us – by which I mean “us,” as in the important people who live in cities and use terms like “farm-to-table” yet have never been on a farm. Our fellow transnational socialist technocrats in Great Britain tried to explain to the normals why unaccountable bureaucrats in a foreign capital should be dictating the smallest details of their lives, from the shape of their bananas to the size of their condoms. They refused to listen. That’s crazy! I mean, why would anyone need anything but an extra small condom anyway? And their betters tried to show them how their so-called concerns about unrestricted foreign immigration and its consequences on their incomes, the nature of their communities, and their safety were really just a smokescreen for the rabid racism that lurks beneath the surface of anyone who isn’t an urban elitist like us. Did they listen? They turned down the chance for unrestricted immigration from Turkey! I mean, how could that possibly go wrong? It’s not like there is some kind of looming threat out there from organized groups of foreigners with a murderous ideology that has sworn our destruction. And jobs? Why, I don’t see immigrants from impoverished countries coming here and taking jobs from me and my friends in the fields of politics, the media or the professions! I’m sure it’s totally it’s the same for those people who work with their – ewwww – hands. And here in America, people are voting for that terrible Donald Trump instead of the wonderful Hillary. It’s crazy – just look at her track record of achievement at being female and raising awareness of stuff! And do you see the way Trump responds to the concerns of Americans who both Democrat and Republican politicians have totally ignored? What’s up with that? Didn’t he get the message? Ix-nay on the documented-unay orkers-way? He wants to build a wall to keep out immigrants? That’s crazy! Why, a wall could never, ever, possibly work – no civilization has ever built a wall before to keep out foreigners! Not the Chinese, not the Romans, no one. At least, I can’t remember learning about any walls in college, and since I studied communications I totally know stuff. See, the problem is that we are not getting the respect and deference we are due from these people, many of whom have to drive more than an hour to get to the ocean. I got a degree in something. All they did was work for a living doing stuff with tools, and not even at an office with exposed brick walls, ping pong tables, and a people riding their Razor scooters between work spaces. They should be happy to have us to guide them, to teach them, and to explain to them about science, which they all hate. You know, some of them believe in God? I’m not kidding! And we let them vote? Frankly, it’s time to realize that they simply can’t be trusted to participate in our democracy because time after time, they make the wrong choices. We need to stop this irrational, unreasonable, rebellious majority and make sure that they no longer get to make decisions that keep us from doing everything we want at their expense. Brexit? Well, we need a do-over, and maybe another, until they get it right. Here, we’re lucky to have some people who sympathize with us in the GOP – have you ever heard how some of those sensible NYC/DC guys like David Brooks talk about normal people when they’re over for cocktails? Remember how our pals in the GOP promised to enforce immigration laws during the election then, well, didn’t? We need more of that kind of cooperation. And we can just ignore anything they do manage to turn into law. You know how the Constitution is supposed to limit the President’s ability to act unilaterally? Ignore it! The Supreme Court will totally back us up too – after all, every one of them went to an Ivy League school, just like all normal people do! There is one little problem we need to address, though. It’s that gun thing. As we know, the only people who should have guns are the police and military who work for us, and the security guards who protect our gated communities. Yet these peasants are fixated on keeping their guns and stopping commonsense laws that would allow us to disarm them. The NRA is especially awful – no matter how much we blame its members for mass killings by Democrat radical Muslims and other diverse individuals, they refuse to be ashamed and submit to our reasonable command that they utterly surrender. Those monsters. Now, I heard that these odd people buy something like 60,000 guns a day! Someone mentioned that that is enough to arm four infantry divisions, whatever infantry divisions are – if I knew anyone who had ever been in the military I’d ask about that. Anyway, we need to put our Birkenstocked collective foot down. These hillbillies are totally out of hand: Brexit, Tea Parties, Trump, not kneeling before us and howling “We’re not worthy!” And now guns. We need to tell our inferiors flat out that our diverse coalition of the wealthy, the progressives, the feminists, the hipsters, the gender-questioning, the undocumented, and other cool people demands that they get rid of all their guns. We’ll explain that they are racist and stupid and that should seal the deal. I mean, gosh, how are a bunch of heavily armed people who are often highly trained veterans who we’ve infuriated with our patronizing, obnoxious, and fascist attempts to turn them into slaves going to stop us? It’s not like a revolution has ever started when an oppressive, unresponsive, transnational elite tried to disarm and subjugate normal Americans!
  4. The cars are built to run a specific class. Cubic inches to weight formula for classification was only 17 pounds over the minimum. That put the at the low end of the class and and ultra competitive. Enough nuts to beat quite a few V-8 cars. Lower classes / small engines were a lot more innovative to save weight and make power than most other classes. My 55 Chevy has been a drag car since 1962 when my pop ran it in D/ Gas. Since I got it in 1970 it has had big blocks, small blocks, multi carbs, superchargers and injection. Ran 3 and 4 speeds, a Hydra-matic, a Powerglide and Turbo 350. Today it's powered by a 320 GMC six with a Wayne Crossflow head, Sequential Fuel injection and a 727 Torqueflite. Nothing like pissing all over the competition and then showing them it's only a 6 cylinder. Paul
  5. Welcome to the group! Nice unit too. Paul

  10. Obama Endorses Hillary, Immediately Meets With Attorney General Loretta Lynch Earlier today President Obama officially endorsed Democrat presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton for President. In an endorsement video released by the Clinton campaign, Obama made it clear he wants Clinton to win the White House in order to preserve his legacy. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest also made this point clear during the daily briefing. Shortly after the endorsement was made, President Obama met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch this afternoon in the Oval Office. The meeting was closed to the press. Lynch, of course, will ultimately make the decision as to whether Clinton will be prosecuted should the FBI issue an indictment surrounding her use of a private email server to store and transfer top secret, classified information. In order for Clinton to carry Obama's torch, she has to stay out of prison. In order to do that, she has to avoid prosecution. I'm sure Obama made that very clear to his somewhat new Attorney General.

Why the Left Hates Referendums Dennis Prager Jun 28, 2016 One of the common laments of leftist commentators in Europe and America concerning Brexit is that holding referendums is a bad idea. The most frequently expressed example is the contempt in which the left holds British Prime Minister David Cameron for having suggested the referendum in the first place. But why would the left hate referendums? Doesn't it claim to represent "the people"? Isn't "power to the people" one of the most popular sayings of the left? Isn't the American left trying to abolish the Electoral College precisely because it isn't directly representative of "the people's" will? One would imagine, therefore, that if anyone would welcome referendums it would be the left. So, what gives? The answers explain a great deal about the left. First, the left cares about "the people" as much as the Soviet Communist Party cared about the workers. For the left, real people are either political fodder or, when they support the left, useful idiots. The left loves power, not people. Repeat: The left loves power, not people. If that is not understood, the left is not understood. The European Union is a perfect example. It is a left-wing exercise in controlling people -- in this case, entire nations. That great source of societal damage -- the faceless and nameless bureaucrat, in this instance located in Brussels, Belgium -- seeks to control as much of every individual European's life as possible. There is no limit to the number and extent of rules the EU passes. To the left nations are archaic constructs, impediments to the left-wing ideal of a world without national identities. This utopia, governed ultimately by a worldwide Brussels -- will be run by a secular totalitarian clergy consisting of left-wing parties; left-wing intellectuals in academia and the media; big corporations vying for government subsidies; and big labor, whose leaders embody the love of power. Fellow travelers include environmentalist and feminist organizations and the religious Left that will exist in a left-wing-run world. Since its beginning, the major, if not only interest the left has had in people is to control them. That is the reason for the left's fear and loathing of referendums. Every referendum gives people who are not yet controlled by the left the exceedingly rare opportunity to exercise power. That is what the people of California did when they voted to amend their state's constitution to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. The left loathed the proposal, characterizing it as "hate." And after it was passed the left did what it always does when it can: used judges to overturn the popular will. The British nation did last week what the citizens of California had done. They exercised their will independently of the left. Those British whose minds were not yet influenced by the left said that they would rather have Britain stay British and be self-governing than become an identity-free European country governed by Brussels. Thus, the left is now apoplectic. No one should be able to defy the left and get away with it. Just as almost everyone of any prominence who supported California's Proposition 8 was ultimately punished (like the CEO of Mozilla Firefox, who despite his universally acknowledged fair treatment of gays was targeted with furious attacks solely for supporting the notion that marriage should have remain defined as it had always been, a union between the two sexes). America should have a referendum on whether or not to exit the United Nations, that moral wasteland beloved by the left. In light of Brexit, Republicans should strongly endorse the idea, even if the results aren't binding. Brexit represents a ray of optimism. But in the long run, even referendums may not matter. As long as the left controls education and the news and entertainment media, brainwashed populations will vote to destroy their nations and Western civilization in general because they are programed to, as is already happening in the institution most controlled by the left. . . the school and the university. In the meantime, long live the referendum, the last remaining tool for the non-elites and the non-leftists to express themselves.

  16. One thing I found interesting, Bob Riggle has been running all of the Hemi Underglass cars from 1965 to 1975 and has been running the 1968 replica since 1992. He knows they don't corner at speed, yet at the 3 minute mark he jerked he wheel to make a hard left. Wonder why?
  17. Bit of history on the Hemi Under Glass and Bob Riggle with Leno's interview and ride.
  18. Funny, but I get a truer picture of what is happening politically in the United States from "Radio Free Briton" (BBC)
  19. The ECU controls the injectors The VECU module as well that can cause problems. if it got wet, wet connectors or worse. Where it is located on your 98 don't know.
  20. Average for labor rate basic body work in VA averages $53 an hour, Structural work is $65 per hour, prep and paint labor is $40 per hour, Chassis labor is $70 per and mechanical is $90 per hour. Add the cost of body panels, paint and misc hardware and glass you will be in it deeper than a cab swap by far. Plus figure the down time in months not weeks. My humble opinion, cab swap. Paul
  21. Did you get a official Fork Union, VA permit signed by Kaycee, Beaurgarde and Booker the Basset Hounds to allow you to get a permit signed by Underdog, Greendash, 39babymack, and Mowerman ?
