After Voting to Leave, Brits Were Googling What the EU Is... Leah Barkoukis Washington Post online oped June 24, 2016 The UK made history on Thursday by voting to leave the European Union, but based on Google searches after polls closed, it seems many Brits had no idea what they were voting for. At approximately 1 a.m. Eastern time, long after the last vote had been cast, Google Trends reported that searches for “what happens if we leave the EU” more than tripled. Moreover, the second most asked question in the UK after the referendum results came in was, “What is the EU?” Seriously. "What is the EU?" is the second top UK question on the EU since the #EUEefresults were officially announced pic.twitter.com/1q4VAX3qcm — GoogleTrends (@GoogleTrends) June 24, 2016 And it seems some people woke up with a case of buyer’s remorse. "Even though I voted to leave, this morning I woke up and I just — the reality did actually hit me," one woman told a local news station. "If I'd had the opportunity to vote again, it would be to stay." If your country is voting on a major issue like the presidential election, it’s probably best to do all your research before you head to the polls. Just my thought. Paul
  2. One thing people don't know and history forgets is Stalin killed more people than Hitlers camps. Captured Germans, Civilians from German occupied territories (they were considered collaborators), re patrioted Soviet POW's, His pre WWII purge of Academia and most of the officers in the military (whom were considered threats to him). Over 100,00 Poles killed in his invasion of Poland in 1939 (when he was an ally of Germany), equal to or slightly more than the Germans killed. 1,516,000 returning Soviet POW's were sent to Gulags and work camps in 1945 alone, 98% died from starvation, over work or cold. Estimated 500 to 650,000 German, Romanian and Hungarian Civilians during the advance to Berlin alone. “Unnatural Deaths in the U.S.S.R.: 1928-1954,” I.G. Dyadkin estimated that the USSR suffered 56 to 62 million "unnatural deaths" during that period, with 34 to 49 million directly linked to Stalin from 1937 to 1947.

    BREXIT

Third vote to leave in 43 years, but don't fret, Obama is going over to talk some sense into the resigning PM and the Queen. Than Wonder Boy is off to Scotland to help their up coming re-vote on the same deal. Obama Defends European Union After Brexit Vote Mark Wilson/Getty Images by Charlie Spiering 24 Jun 2016 President Barack Obama reacted to the United Kingdom decision to exit the European Union, praising the globalist organization as an important force for change. He celebrated the European Union as a political body that had “done so much to promote stability, stimulate economic growth, and foster the spread of democratic values and ideals across the continent and beyond.” But Obama signaled respect for the United Kingdom’s decision, even though he visited London in April to urge the country to stay in the EU. “The people of the United Kingdom have spoken, and we respect their decision,” he adding that “the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is enduring.” Obama warned in April that the United States would put the UK in the "back of the line for trade agreements" if they decided to leave the EU. But he tried to call for global stability in spite of the shocking vote. “The European Union will remain indispensable partners of the United States even as they begin negotiating their ongoing relationship with the United Kingdom to ensure continued stability, security, and prosperity for Europe, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the world,” he said. Obama is currently traveling in California, planning to deliver a speech on job ceation at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit later today
  4. Most left the factory with a NVH1200 400 h.p. Cummins, a MACK constant mesh 4 speed with an 18" Westinghouse Hydraulic Torque Converter or a Duplex 4 and 2 with air assist clutch. Sure over the past 50+ years it's been upgraded.
  5. Add the number of Allies killed by General Motors Opel Blitz and Fords VK3000 truck production and everybody is dirty.
  6. Never looked at the impact off WWII. But only Sweden, Switzerland were fully intact and some of USSR's industries but not exported because of Joe Stalin. Explains quite a lot. Paul
  7. Late 50's LRVSW probably ex Gerosa. Made from 1943-1964 , total production run of 1,275
  8. Unfortunately it seems Virginia is going the same way as NY. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/virginia-politics/gop-sues-to-strip-209k-felons-from-va-voter-rolls/2016/05/23/ef2587a8-20e4-11e6-aa84-42391ba52c91_story.html
  9. The 2015 Ram Chassis I bought is almost all "glued together". Hood to hood brace, inner fenders to outer skin, door skins to door frames, roof to cab. Floor, door jambs back panel and firewall are welded. many vehicle makers have been using it since the mid 2000's and the aircraft industry has been using a similar system since the late, late 1990's.
  10. I watched the dog and pony show put on be Diane Feinstein, Chuck Schumer and Chris Murphy. Feinstein stated that a national poll shows 90% of the U.S. wants stiffer gun laws, 87% want guns removed from public access (?) Feinstein wants the "Loop holes" closed that allow mentally ill people to by "machine guns" and buying assault rifles on the internet. Murphy said because of the no fly list, terrorists went from using airliners to assault rifles (?) Schumer mentioned his staff went to gun shows on Long Island and Up State NY and bought AR-15s, AK-47's and Uzi's with no I.D. What F'n planet do these people who supposedly "serve us" live on? Now with N.Y.S. Safe Act, which on is classed as an Assault Rifle?
  11. I recently saw on Bloomberg news that over 7 million of the new jobs are well paying union jobs through the SEIU. United Farm Workers and various other unions. Bloomberg states this shows the economy under President Obama has rebounded better than most other nations.

  15. Were they attempting to set up with GM for their sales and services? I thought I read that in your original article. Paul
  16. Oyster Bay was the end of the line with a double track and a turn table to reverse the engines for the return trip. It had a spur to Jakobsons Ship Yard, a spur to the Lumber Yard and a spur the the factory that built diners from the 1930's to the early 1960s. Besides the turn table there was two coal silos and a few box and flat cars stored, it's all empty now. They had big plans for the rail museum never happened , no money not many volunteers, the ship yard that built Moran Tugs, it was all removed to make a sailing school and a rowing club, both went bust. One of the few companies left that custom made sails was after 100 years was pushed out so the lofts could be made into a skating rink/ school, that lasted 6 months. It had 5 car dealerships, 4 auto parts stores 2 hardware stores, 8 gas stations, a feed store a butcher shop and a fish monger....all pushed out to make the town an artsy place, now it's mostly empty buildings. The planers never took into account it's the end of a highway, the end of the rail line and people only came there for family or because they were lost. A shame becaus when I was in Vietnam I couldn't wait to come back there, by 1980 we couldn't wait to leave.
