  2. Funny they were talking with a Federal Reserve Person on Radio Free Europe (BBC) and kept asking the FED Wizard how can the U.S. recover when the Government is growing 35 to 40 percent faster the the Economy. The reply was all pointless double talk and smoke and mirrors from the DC Feather Merchant.
  3. Got the dig loud and clear Here is my bitch. My farm is down from the original 360 acres to 16, I am taxed and regulated in the Township of Riverhead and Suffolk County on water usage, nitrates and dust. My salvage business is regulated on Ground Water Pollution, soil pollution, Lead, oil anti freeze, batteries, toxins from burning a unit apart to move it (think pre WWII tin buildings at old ship yard in Green Port) and even old tires. Laundry Mat the Local, the County, state and Federal EPA regulate the extraction of soap, bleaches and lint from the wash water. Even heat exhaust from drier stacks. State and Federal Tax men require that my total income matches up to supplies and services sold material invoices and total water usage. Hobby shop is regulated on the li ion batteries, Nitro RC fuel, hobby paints and Estees Rockets. Since I am a Go-Ped Dealer/ repair facility I have NYSDMV to deal with also. Suprized they haven't found a way to screw my on my Scarab boat yet, It is a polluting 1968 model ... think of all the bad carbon the three 540c.i. Chevys put in the air.
  4. Fire Chassis only. My spec papers show unavailable after 1967 in Fire Apparatus except special order.
  5. The Federal bail out had General Motors give the United Auto Workers union 17.5% of its common stock, $6.5 billion of preferred shares and a $2.5 billion federal backed note to finance a trust that will take over retiree health care costs. They are stock holders!
  6. F' them I will give no more. They got my youth, graduated high school on sunday and was at fort Dix on monday getting inducted. Destroyed my legs fill me with shrapnel and spit on me when I came home. Regulated my farm, salvage business, laundry mat and hobby shop to death. How my race car and hobby cars are targeted? No More!
  7. Real mans weather to work on a real mans truck.
  8. A MIG will handle it no problem. The thickness of the steel in the housing is between .187 and .250 thousand thick. Pull the axle and clean , clean it, clean it, clean it. Inside and out where the crack is. If you don't get the oil from the crack area inside the housing the weld heat will suck it into the weld and it will be porous and fail. Clean the paint off the area, dye check to see the full crack. Drill stop holes and vee the crack. Do a small teat weld and adjust the amps the get full penetration. I would peen each weld you do before it cools completely, it relieves the weld stress. Re Dye check and touch up if needed.
  9. A NRA or Law Enforcement safety course should be mandatory for any firearm purchase, long gun or pistol. It's only common sense in my opinion. AS for N.Y. Safe Act it is B.S. Under there definition my Rossi Lever Action Saddle gun is classed as an "Assault Weapon" yet my M-100 Calico Sporter rifle is not....100 round semi auto....
  10. NASCAR made 2.8 Billion last year. NHRA made 1.4 Billion last year, add the teams, drivers, parts suppliers, car builders and other support aspects you can double it. Thats not even counting the local guy off the street. Oh and add the monies made from food, lodging for the areas around the tracks, Licensed collectibles. . . that should take a rather large chunk out of the economy and tax base.
  11. I think it is early 1930's. Most of the branches in NYC and Long Island closed around WWII or before.
  12. But they do care! Every law to make legal ownership tougher makes their "career choice" safer for them.
  13. Maybe next year we can have a group in pointy hoods singing about shortbread, since racism is apparently not offensive to the bottom line. Worked for Mel Brookes.
  14. I agree with the safety course 100% but they limit it to a once a year 1100 dollar course, the Superintendent doesn't accept the NRA course. I got a full carry permit 25 years ago and my usual carry is a S&W Governor.
  15. A town in Massafornia approved this new requirement for a carry license. Paul http://www.lowellsun.com/breakingnews/ci_29406406/city-gun-policy-place-despite-protests http://boston.cbslocal.com/2016/01/21/lowell-gun-licenses-open-carry-safety-courses-essay/
  16. My mixer had a pair of 12 volt batteries
  17. Try asking a military vehicle collectors club, museum or military surplus part shop, a few in Cali and Nevada. MACK and other makers used them up to post WWII. Both Bendix and Bendix-Westinghouse compressors.
  18. Back when there were Mom and Pop Truck Stops were you could catch a nap and not moving meant no money.
  19. Some of the early link ball ends for big vehicles had a cup and spring to take up play and to account for ball and socket wear. Stopped that set up about 1954 or 1955. Cheaper to make what is in the photo. Paul
  20. A fa number of years ago Wheels and Tracks showed a Panther from CAAN that the Germans hid in a farmers barn. After the war moved on about late 1944 early 1945 the farmer left it there for fear of retribution from the Allies for "Collaboration with the Germans". His family sold it to a collector in the 90's. Stuff is there if you make nice to the people.
  21. The RD, DM 600 and RS steel hoods were a Conversion the MACK bought from WARD Manufacturing Co. I believe there were no badges other than what came with the truck when it was a dealership conversion. The truck in the photo is missing the radiator to fender filler/ brace panels, the mounting holes are there though.
  22. Remove the nut that holds the ball and stud to the shock arm. The link comes off as a complete assembly.
  23. One of the 3 sweetest models MACK ever made IMO The AC, the B and the R
