  1. On the presidential website, the President declared war on senior citizens, veterans and on private individuals who, in some cases, sell as few as one firearm. Those are just the highlights. There is much more, and you can read additional analysis of the President’s imperial diktat here. Obama also will on his next Executive Order, ban Social Security beneficiaries from owning guns. With this new executive action, that policy has now been officially announced: The Social Security Administration (SSA) has indicated that it will begin the rule making process to ensure that appropriate information in its records is reported to NICS and will cover appropriate records of the approximately 750,000 people each year.
  2. interesting that a White House spoken person called the people in Oregon " Red State Rebels" and "Vanilla ISIS" Cute that it the opinion of the White House Staff. The activists who began occupying government buildings in the Oregon wilderness over the weekend say that they’re protesting how federal authorities treated rancher Dwight Hammond, 73, and Steven Hammond, his middle-aged son. Federal authorities charged the Hammonds with arson after they set a series of fires that spread to public land. A back burn in 2006 spread to Federal land while, “a burn ban was in effect while firefighters battled blazes started by a lightning storm on a hot day in August,” the newspaper reported. “Steven Hammond had started a ‘back burn’ to prevent the blaze from destroying the family’s winter feed for its cattle.” It was reported by Bureau of Land Management firefighters in the area, and the Justice Department notes that the Hammond's “took steps to ensure their safety.” It burned about an acre of public land, causing less than $1,000 in damage. Charged with a number of crimes related to arson, the father was convicted of just one count of arson while the son was convicted of two counts for the wilderness fires. The government used an anti-terrorism statute to secure its convictions. The statute imposed a mandatory minimum sentence: 5 years imprisonment under the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996. U.S. District Judge Michael Hogan felt that five-year sentences were “grossly disproportionate” and would “shock his conscience,” given the context of the case. He sentenced the older man to three months in federal prison and the son to concurrent one-year sentences. Those punishments inspired no radical activism. What happened next, did. The Department of Justice appealed the sentences, won in the 9th Circuit, and is forcing the men to return to prison after they thought they had done their prison time. Both will now serve the mandatory 5 year minimum sentences, on top of "time served".

  4. http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/05/politics/obama-executive-action-gun-control/ Watched his speech there was 3 interesting points he made. "Congress and Senate only pass laws to get them reelected , I pass laws the we need with out their help or approval" "18, 19 and 20 year old children buying guns without their parents knowing" "33,000 Americans killed with guns and 2 out of 3 were suicides" Couple other things that were interesting his tangent on slavery and the Muslims being prevented for worshiping in many places in the U.S. Things you should know of his actions. 1. The orders stop short of requiring universal background checks — According to Politico, "While Obama cannot unilaterally require universal background checks, top administration officials predicted the new guidelines would sweep in all sellers." 2. House Speaker Paul Ryan said Obama is subverting the constitution — "While we don't yet know the details of the plan, the president is at minimum subverting the legislative branch, and potentially overturning its will," he said in a statement, the Washington Examiner reported. "His proposals to restrict gun rights were debated by the United States Senate, and they were rejected. No president should be able to reverse legislative failure by executive fiat, not even incrementally. The American people deserve a president who will respect their constitutional right — all of them. This is a dangerous level of executive overreach, and the country will not stand for it." 3. Ted Cruz responded by raffling off a shotgun — On Sunday, the senator from Texas set up a webpage offering his supporters the change to win a shotgun engraved with his presidential campaign logo, MarketWatch reported. Cruz also said he would undo Obama's executive orders and strengthen Second Amendment rights as president. 4. Donald Trump would "unsign" the orders as president — The GOP frontrunner told a packed rally in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Sunday that he is opposed to Obama's gun control plans. "There's an assault on the Second Amendment. You know Obama's going to do an executive order and really knock the hell out of it," Trump said, according to CNN. "You know, the system's supposed to be you get the Democrats, you get the Republicans, and you make deals. He can't do that. He can't do that. So he's going to sign another executive order having to do with the Second Amendment, having to do with guns. I will veto. I will unsign that so fast." 5. Marco Rubio vowed to undo Obama's orders on "day one" — Speaking Sunday evening in New Hampshire, the second primary state and a thoroughly pro-gun state, Rubio said Obama "has waged war on the Constitution" by issuing executive orders against the Second Amendment, Time magazine reported. "Don’t worry," he continued, "on my first day in office, behind that desk, don’t worry, those orders are gone." 6. The orders will reduce background check exemptions for many hobbyists — Currently, gun sales by hobbyists and collectors do not require background checks, but sales by professional gun dealers "engaged in the business" of dealing guns do require background checks (and also require the seller to obtain a federal license). The new executive orders will seek to limit hobbyist exemptions by clarifying an existing law so that sellers who sell firearms at gun shows and online can be classified as professional gun dealers, USA Today reported. This will close, what some call the "gun show loophole." 7. Hobbyist exemptions are not based on sales location or numbers — After meeting with Obama on Monday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said, "Let me be clear: It’s not where you are located but what you are doing that determines whether you are engaged in the business of dealing in firearms." Likewise, the order does not set a numerical threshold on what differentiates hobby sales from professional sales. Lynch did note, however, that as few as two gun sales have in the past triggered background check requirements, as determined by the courts. 8. Exemptions will be determined holistically — White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett said the ATF will take into account all the "facts and circumstances" of the gun seller when determining exemption status. Things like business cards, ability to take credit-card payments, profit margins, and original packaging are all part of the equation. 9. Obama requested more money for mental healthcare — The president requested $500 million be added to the federal budget in order to improve access to mental healthcare. 10. The FBI's background check system will get more staff — One of Obama's executive orders requires the hiring of more staff, 230 examiners, so that the government is equipped for "processing background checks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week instead of 9 to 5 , 5 days a week" Fox News reported. This is a roughly 50-percent staff increase. 11. The orders will NOT ban large capacity magazines — Ahead of the announcement, the Obama administration considered several measures that it ultimately decided it didn't have the power to do. One of those things was banning large capacity magazines for firearms, USA Today reported. 12. The orders will NOT ban people using the terrorist "no fly" list — After the San Bernardino terrorist attack, many called for banning anyone on the federal "no fly" list from obtaining firearms. Many said this was a terrible idea, as many prominent people and representatives who are clearly not involved in terrorist activity have appeared on the list in the past. 13. Obama also issued a presidential memorandum on "smart guns" — According to USA Today, "Obama directed the departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security to study 'smart gun' technology to prevent accidental gunshots and allow better tracking of lost and stolen guns — with using the federal government's purchasing power to encourage gun makers to market safer firearms." 14. The orders would not have stopped recent mass shootings — Obama's executive orders would not have stopped the San Bernardino shooters, nor the Charleston church shooting, as perpetrators in neither case bought their guns under the hobbyist exemption. In fact, after the terrorist massacre in San Bernardino, The Associated Press reported, "The deadly shooting in San Bernardino happened in a state with some of the nation's toughest gun laws: California bars assault weapons, blocks the sale of large-capacity magazines, and requires universal background checks for all gun purchases." 15. The Supreme Court could stall and strike down Obama's orders — After the president tried to unilaterally overhaul the nation's immigration system via executive order, the Supreme Court issued an injunction, and the legality of the orders is now under review, Politico reported. Like the immigration orders, Obama's gun control measures could also come under judicial review. But since his staff worked with the DOJ and Constitutional Lawyers to form the Executive Order, it is highly unlikely to be challenged.
  5. I AM NOT A HOARDER! I am a foster parent for " Things and Stuff "!
  6. Remember, Hillary made a statement that the candidate with a campaign closest to a reality show will win all the needed votes. As for her State Department improprieties pick the answer that fits best: my aides took care of those things the fog of war hides what happens I'm a woman and was taken advantage of what does it matter now Bush did it
  7. Hard to let any of mine go and only then after my lengthy adoption process. Yep, I'm a hoarder. Paul
  8. Like Larry said it's your truck. Now I've been working up brackets and adapters to put a set of disc brakes on one of my AC's. Hidden behind and mostly inside the front brake drum. I have used on other vehicles a generator looking 12 volt alternator, which will be on most all of my AC's. As for obvious modifications, only if they are period for the decade of the truck.
  9. So in New Hampshire today Slick Willie at a Hillary Fund Raiser said that "nobody has the experience, knowledge or truthfulness than Hillary to be President" .

  14. I know you weren't defending them. This administration is worse than previous. Yes we have had many other administrations allow masses of people in on a nod and promise to come back and do it legally. This one is just a joke and unfortunately it's on us.
  15. They ARE eligible for assistance under this administration. advocate groups, churches, public schools and even Federal out reach programs to help get Food Stamps, Rental Assistance, Health care and even SSD. Federal law says their children can not be denied enrollment in public schools because of immigration status or be denied the School nutritional supplemental meals (free breakfast, lunch and after school snack) They may not get Welfare but the do get all the other Freebies. Sit in the Social Security Office and watch the young women with children in tow, through their interpreter getting rubber stamped SS assistance for them and their children. Social Services offices do the same thing for health coverage and public assistance for them. . . legal status or not. Got to a local clinic or hospital emergency room, it's the illegals "doctors office" because they can not be denied assistance and it is paid for by the Feds, the State and our health care costs The illegals in Nassau County, NYC and Freeport have formed their own construction companies and even though they are all illegals they are allowed to bid on County Projects. Most times they will get the projects because of their cheap labor. I respect them leaving their country to start a new life, but do it legally. 34 million illegals here in the U.S. of whom many are getting benefits that "they deserve because they are here?" Many are allowed to vote in local and state elections because "the issues affect them too" ? One last thig of that 34 million here how many have any education or skills that will allow them to move up out of the minimum wage jobs to something better? Apparently not many since the cure for lack of job, education or language skills is to raise the minimum wage and adopt their language.
