  1. Anything is possible, It does appear to have a military powered steer axle (M-26 Pacific tractor?) and MACK rears if you blow up the photo. 5th wheel look to be from a WWII M-26 heavy tank transporter also. Here is their history. They did heavy construction for the DOD and would explain all the ex military truck parts in the build. http://www.owlcompanies.com/company-overview/history.html
  2. Ambassador based in Benghazi would be better. Paul
  3. In the States but did production run longer in Australia? Most likely a Re Mack with the date different than the truck. Paul
  4. That was my thoughts also. Paul
  5. 3 axle = tandem , 2 axle = single drive axle. The early LTL series from 1947 to 1950 or 51 had different front spring hangers and springs. The later was done to make it better as an OTR
  6. I think Scripps was in on the original design or licence produced a similar engine for WWII USN use in tenders and such.
  7. Very odd v engine, valves are horizontal. Since the V-12 shop was involved in the carbs/ engine and since all they do are ALF V-12 series engines, maybe they know of a tech near you?
  8. I would not be surprised because the LTL's were the same as the LT's but with aluminum components --engine mounts, front spring brackets, belly band, front.cab mounts, radiator support cross members, steps and battery boxes, steering column, trunion support, wheel hubs, brake spiders, brake shoes, air tanks, axle stops, auxiliary transmission case, and wheels. 1950-56, production 1216 units 3 axle and 130 units 2 axle units designated LTLT
  9. I found reference to it being an in house build but no info on drive train or chassis basis. Paul
  10. Excellent question and affects the carb answer. The carb rebuilder should have the base settings for idle set on the rebuild by a wire gauge and a basic setting for the mixture screws should also be set (about 1/2 turns out). I would ask them. Setting are do with a TACH, Vacuum Gauge (Good) or a Uni-Sync Gauge (Best) Pointless to give more info until carlotpilots question is answered. Than I'll give you the same procedure I use to to sync and balance Corvair and Jaguar carbs.
  11. 1953 LJ 1948 L Series in Queens N.Y. about 1970 - 72
  12. 1954 LTL 1953 LJ 1953 LJ 1953 LJ
  13. Any info on these units? Ultra heavy haul?
  14. 100% correct. 8LL is a 13 speed. Horans was originally a power unit for a lowboy for PRATT for 5 or 6 years til they replaced it with a Superliner, so that says it works out well for low boy work. We converted it to a 3 axle dump with a Stecco Demo body. Converting to a 13 or 15 will require probably changing rear ratios for it all to work well .
  15. Thanks didn't see "sound control" OOPS
  16. Could it be one of the LV or LY units built from up to the early 1960's?
  17. Horan had one MACK with a Fuller 15 speed in the early 1980's. It was basically a 10 speed with deep reduction. Shifting as I remember was Deep 1 Deep 2 Deep 3 Deep 4 Deep 5 than out of deep reduction to low 4 low 5 and shift to High Range through high 1 through 5. Never used Low 1, 2 or 3 gears. Ran it at Bromans Pit a lot and when we were at a site on Marcus Ave.
  18. You used the Sound Control or the Thermal Insulation product? Paul
  19. Military that could have quickly responded to the attack on the Embassy were told to stand down by the State Department... Gee same as Bill did in Somalia as I recall, when an Italian unit was close enough to help. Guess it's a Clinton signature move, like Obama leaving when the KIA from Benghazi arrived in the U.S. for vacation/fund raising event. Lastly her Fog Of War fits with her story of being under sniper attack in Bosnia. Surprised she didn't get a medal for surviving the "fire fight". Hell Kerry got one for attacking an abandoned Hooch. MILITARY.COM A Poll Asked Military Members How They Felt About Hillary — And Here’s What They Said A recent poll conducted by Rasmussen asked 5000 active duty and retired U.S. military members what they thought about 2016 Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. As it turns out, their opinion of the former Secretary of State and First Lady was not very good. An overwhelming 81% viewed her unfavorably. That included a whopping 69% who had a “Very Unfavorable” impression of her. Only an anemic 15% of military members had a favorable impression of her. Ouch. If you can’t get the military to stand behind you, what kind of Commander in Chief do you think you are going to be? No doubt, Clinton only has herself to blame for the antipathy the military has for her. When talking to MSNBC host Rachel Maddow not long ago, Clinton downplayed the scandals that plague the Department of Veterans Affairs. “I don’t understand why we have such a problem,” she callously told Maddow. “There have been a number of surveys of veterans and overall, veterans who do get treated are satisfied with their treatment.” Of course, she didn’t speak for those vets who never received treatment… because many of them died while waiting, so they weren’t able to weigh in. Besides, they can’t vote. It also came to light recently that she ignored a critical email from then-Department of Defense Chief of Staff Jeremy Bash during the heat of the 2012 Benghazi terror attack. The email announced that military forces were ready and waiting to be given the go ahead for an immediate rescue operation. Clinton told them to stand down, no rescue needed at this time. As a result, four Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens were murdered. Clinton claimed to be saddened by Stevens’ murder because he was supposedly a personal friend of hers. Which is why it seems so strange that she ignored his many desperate pleas for the added security that could have prevented his murder.
  20. Happy and Safe New Year to all Paul
  21. A June 23 Washington Post poll/article was quoted by Obama and as being the reason that immigration reform is needed, to end the Real American ideas of superiority and entitlement to jobs. Obamas choice of words stating "that immigrants do work that real americans think is beneath them"
  22. The factory also builds them to be universally accepted, so they're set middle ground so to speak. If you stay some what conservative on the up grades, drive it sensibly, watch the pyro and other gauges you'll have no problems.IMO Paul
  23. Point is why have regulations, procedures, quotas and waiting lists if they are ignored and by passed? I always hear that they do all the work that "real Americans" won't do. Who determined that? A media or government study? I asked these so called "Real Americans if they would to farm labor for me and 99% jumped at the chance. I have "real Americans" that work on my farm during planting and harvest times, some work for me in my salvage business too. They don't seem to demand any more than the "immigrants" and work as hard. Granted quite a few farms near me use the "immigrants" because the can basically treat them unfairly and let them take risks to save money or time. Most " immigrants" will work for cash so the employer saves on taxes and benefits or pays the minimum on the books to be legal. But I guess that where I am is not the real America and I'm sure that the Feds and B.H.L's (bleeding heart liberals) know what is best for us the country.
  24. My Gabrielle MACK parts guru told me about these. If you have reverse lights this is simple and easy install. 87 decibels http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&productId=29247
  25. The ENFD 1952 has marine sealed momentary toggle switch (spring loaded so when it is released it automatically shuts off) mounted so when the gear shift lever goes into reverse the switch is pushed on by the gear lever it self. It is under the floor board on an L bracket so it is not obtrusive. Paul
