  1. Pretty interesting what you can do when you need to. Figure the radiator replaced the OEM one?
  2. I showed my wife what you're doing. When I had the NOS bumpers re-chromed for my 1941 Chevy I block sanded the Copper coat with 400 to 2000 wet and dry to remove and trace of "polishing waves". Wife was sure that I was nuts!
  3. Saw that a bit ago. Not surprised at all. But in their defense, how many even know what any of the amendments are? Maybe only what they mention on the lame stream media and at the Universities? Remember we have "educated" people who haven't the faintest idea of who we fought in the Revolutionary War or the Civil War. Think Abraham Lincoln was a "vampire hunter" and the best of America (includes our President and Vice President) not knowing the number of states in the Union.
  4. Suffolk County, Nassau County and NYC DOT will all issue an out of service for non 3 piece rims, I would assume that is country wide.
  5. I can see a "poor" choice of subject matter, but I would be more upset as to why many of the students at a majority of public schools are only taught what is needed to pass the Common Core Tests. They than graduate with Reading Skills at the 5th to 7th grade levels, Spelling Skills at the 3rd grade level. Math Skills at the 4th of 5th grade levels and many with no Science Skills at all. Admitted to universities and spend one or two years of college taking remedial courses to learn what they didn't learn or were not taught in the Pubic School Systems. Parents should be more concerned about that IMO. Paul
  6. Than Hillary Clinton and Khadd Pitts get into their Limos to the airport and jet away in a cloud of fossil fuel exhaust. . . I have respect for their views if they arrived and left on public transportation or by bicycle and rode the train instead of a private or corporate jet. Paul
  7. I think the municipality needs a fire truck museum . . .just sayin . . .
  8. Came from the auction in Mass last month. A member here bought most all the pallets of carbs, magnetos and misc parts and tools.
  9. That one was owned by the same family for 4 generations and they kid wanted to create a "new family heirloom" I have no idea if it was the one from the shop yard.
  10. If your going fast enough to rip the visor off, that will be the least of your problems
  11. I drive it all over, N.Y. to Virginia , N.Y. to Hersey Pa Lime Rock Ct for the Corvair convention.

  14. Welcome to the group! Paul
  15. Did Dyna mat on every panel I could in the cab my Marmon including the roof. Made it quieter by at least 50% or more. AC and heat are better. I'l do the sleeper over the winter.
  16. Than by definition this is "a wish it could be'' ? I restored built it with a 1953 3:54 power glide rear instead of the 1941 4:11 ratio, I built the engine with aluminum pistons in place of cast iron, insert rod bearings instead of the correct Babbitt bearings, aluminum timing gears in place of OEM correct fiber gears, a 6 volt alternator instead of generator and Perlux ignition instead of points, 15 inch 1953 chevy wheels instead of 16 inch and last two items, a Chevs of the 40's dual chamber master cylinder conversion and electric wipers. We also had no second thoughts of taking a 6800 mile trip from L.I.N.Y. to California and back, At interste speeds when we had to. Yes it was a low production one owner low mileage car when I bought it, almost a trailer queen. No matter what anyone thoughts were, we made it to be a dependable driver that pleased us. I would never criticize any bodies choice of build be it a 100 point show pony or a rusty mismatched pile of parts.
  17. I went to NAPA for a 3" x 8 foot length of exhaust pipe. What is it for? I told him it was for my oil burner. Do you really need that info??
  18. Houdialle recommended mineral oil, I've used 60wt Motorcycle Fork oil from Honda. Fill them where the are and DO NOT over fill above the filler plug hole. Fill them, put the plug in finger snug, work the arm full spread a 1/2 dozen times or more and top off. They are designed to sweat oil from the seals. OEM says check oil level every 3000 miles.

  21. Pioneer Paving from Kings Park runs a few Superliner Dumps.
  22. The simplest things make buying auto parts fun. Went in a few weeks ago to the NAPA, the Auto Zone and Advanced Auto Parts on a quest for a few star washers. Ended up savaging some from my field of old trucks. Not ONE counter warmer knew what I was looking for and after I showed them an example it only confused them worse.
  23. My literature shows the dump body was made in house by MACK.
