  5. Now that the ACA/O-care act has kicked in the mortality rate should climb a bit more.
  6. The reason why most shops say cast iron cannot be welded is the do not have the equipment. First is the rod needed Softweld 55% ni (about $5 or $6 a stick) which has an expansion rate close to cast iron and machinable or Ferroweld rod (about $2 a stick) but it is extremely hard and prone to cracking. Cast iron blocks and heads need to be preheated to a specific temp before welding and re heated after welding with a controlled cooling. All for easing stress and stopping it from cold cracking during the welding. We learned that for my Navy weld Certification for Grummans Aerospace in the early 70's.

  13. Than I would align the cab to the hood by adjusting the cab. Lot of work but may be the only solution.
  14. It is never been a party issue and never will be. What started out as common sense legislation has not turned into a free for all for eco groups with the ideals from Berkley, frustrated HMO's who want "Quality of Life" laws for their the idea of Eden, revenue for the governments (local, state and federal). The biggest mover for ALL the rules is none of the above but only the one bottom line. . . MONEY and CONTROL. Nothing more nothing less.
  15. Did you have the cab off? Did the hood fit before? If it did and you have the hinge adjustment as far forward as possible, I myself would loosen all the cab mounts a bit (semi snug) wiggle the cab back and to the right some. You can align the cab pretty close and get the final adjustments from the hinges. That's what I personally would do, others may have better ideas. Paul

  19. Pre 1973 all NYS vehicles have a transferable registration only no title. I registered a 1968 Dodge D-100 with no paper work. I gave them a bill of sale, a tracing and picture of the VIN tag. NYS DMV issues a 6 month temporary non transferable registration. After 6 months with no hits the NYDMV issues a transferable registration good in any state. I've since done that with every AC I bought with out any problems. Every one is registered as 7 1/2 ton GVW . My B mixer had a damaged VIN tag, I took a picture and tracing of it, a picture and tracing of the chassis # and was given NYS issued a VIN sticker with the MACK serial #. to put on door next to old tag.. NYS is pretty Old Car friendly.
