I used to use a place here on the island called Dutchman Diesel. He took all the black magic out of the pumps for me. Said it's basically a cam and lifter design. The cams lift and duration determine fuel amount and length of "squirt". Timing sets when the injector pulses in relation to piston position. That's the 2 minute education he gave me. Never explained the magic governor or throttle relation though. Made sense to me than . .

With out the special MACK tool to do it alone , generally take two people without it, according to my MACK tech. Don't know 100% as I've never done a V-8.

Last resort. walk into an Industrial Electrical supply and see if they have an pvc elbow for electrical conduit that matches ID and OD or a plumbing supply for PVC Natural Gas pressure pipe elbow -

Generally easier to replace the speedometer the drive unit is most likely worn, no re builders around any more. Also lube the speedometer cable before re assembling, just don't over lube it. Paul -
