  1. Are the hood ribs correct? I ended up ordering a few projects from Dave this afternoon. Paul
  2. Daves are usually very accurate but being resin they easily sand off. Don't really know the Husky ins and outs. The ribs are there just not a pronounced, After sanding, primer and paint they will be to scale. Here is Tom Millard 361 hood shot. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1024x768q90/822/o0sn.jpg
  3. I'd like your post but . . .
  4. I personally would use an AMT/ ERTL reissued DM600 but the Autocar, Reo will also work. The DM will give you the Camel back, the square fuel tanks and battery boxes. The Autocar gives you the Rockwell AC-6W suspension and the REO gives you walking beam. Paul
  5. True! The push now for 15 dollar and hour minimum wage (all for the Dems vote) because fast food workers can't afford a new car or house! So in response a few of the fast food places are testing a robotic facility. . staffed by one employee pre shift to feed the machine. We have a Valaeo Gas Station that is a dark facility, no workers Debit or Credit cards only. Schools and a lot of parents teach the children that manual labor is beneath them or as my daughter inlaw says "that's Immigrant work". Most I've had come in for a job think at 20 something they need to make top dollar with no experience and pick and choose what they want to do. Except for a precious few of young people Americans no longer have work ethic and don't feel the need to have any. . .the government or mommy and daddy will take care of me, the school and the president said so.
  6. Dave Natalie at AITM has come out with the conversion. Paul http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/ck115brockway361.html
  7. NAPA paints are made for them by Martin Senour. It's a quality product and comparable in cost.
  8. They want qualified but won't train them because of their bottom line, but also they are required to be an Equal Opportunity Employer so the numbers for hiring that group are more important to them. Meet the EOE numbers and pay no fines, get an up for certain contracts and get $ for training some of the minority groups to the minimum requirements. Paul.
  9. The original ad show much more info. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/39964-rs773-in-new-mexico/
  10. The initial regs were passed during George Bush Jr's presidency, BUT the regs were to be implemented when the technology was readily available and not before. (like California's micro stamped ammo law). Obama fast tracked it in to law and felt if the refineries are penalized enough, they will develop the technology. So the fines go down the system to the consumer at the pumps.
  11. Got any small part you can easily remove and carry with the color you need to match? A paint supplier can scan it and match it almost dead nuts.
  12. Not the movie! Easy Riders Magazine , It was in the December 1979 issue with Willie Nelson on the cover. 1 page with four pics from Laconia, New Hampshire Weirs Beach Show in June of 1978. When Laconia was always a "lost weekend" Went there 14 years in a row and never saw the Bike Races, never got past the endless cruise on Main street and Weirs Beach parties.

  14. EPA fines oil refiners for failing to use nonexistent biofuel NEW YORK TIMES, JUNE 22, 2012 BY HOWARD PORTNOY Question: Do you fill your car’s tank with gasoline that is part cellulosic ethanol, an environment-friendly distillate of wood chips, corn cobs, and switch grass? Let me answer for you: No, you don’t. You couldn’t if you wanted to. Petroleum products blended with cellulosic ethanol aren’t commercially available, because the technology for mass-producing cellulosic ethanol hasn’t been perfected. None of which has stopped the Environmental Protection Agency from imposing hefty yearly fines on oil refiners. According to the The New York Times, in 2011 automotive fuel producers were assessed $6.8 million in penalties. That amount is expected to climb dramatically this year. Guess who ends up footing the bill for the difference? This has got to be the ultimate example of government bureaucracy gone mad. “fund additional research in cutting-edge methods of producing ethanol, not just from corn, but from wood chips and stalks or switch grass.” The following year. The “advanced biofuel contribution” under the law was to begin in 2010 at 0.6 billion gallons of cellulosic biomass and rise incrementally, first to 1.35 billion gallons in 2011, then to 2 billion gallons in 2012, and so on. By 2022, 21 billion gallons of fuel pumped into the nation’s cars and trucks was to be cellulosic ethanol. The law further stipulated that if refiners failed to comply with the EPA mandate, they would pay a penalty. The only problem with this arrangement was that the grant recipients responsible for coming up with “cutting-edge methods of producing ethanol … from wood chips and stalks or switch grass” instead came up empty. In a 2011 report, the National Academy of Sciences concluded that “currently, no commercially viable bio-refineries exist for converting cellulosic biomass to fuel.” The report also noted that the renewable fuel standard “may be an ineffective policy for reducing global greenhouse gas emissions,” since the full life cycle of the fuel, including its transport, could lead to higher emissions than conventional petroleum. Undaunted, the Obama administration has forged blindly ahead, continuing the elusive search for a technology that will produce cellulosic biomass—at taxpayers’ expense. Since thanks to the EPA mandate we are already paying more at the pump, the American people are truly getting nothing for something.
  15. Totally opposite from riding any other bike. Left hand throttle, right side tank shift # speed with neutral between each gear. They were done that way so you could ride and shoot a pistol. One tank was all fuel, the other was half an oil tank for engine and the tank were all soldered together. Ride was nice as they had a sprung rear axle and a sprung seat post. I liked the springer front end better than the Hydraulic front end. The engines were like any low compression flat head, out of time or crap fuel and if you ran aluminum heads carry a 5/8 box wrench and spare head gaskets. I think the 80' Chief engine was more ballsy the the UL engine. Belt driven generators which was easily converted to a GM alternator. Looks wise with the skirted fenders, gen belt guard, full chain cover and tool box painted up right, they are the most pleasing bike to look at IMO. My Super Glide I put Indian Chief fenders on it. THe New Indians are cool. They have the looks and style but to me they could have done like H.D. and give the power plant more Indian heritage. Power plant is Polaris I think and quite a few had oiling problems. The fix was like H.D. did on the early '66 to '67 Shovel heads with an oil line between the heads to prevent the rocker shafts from going dry. If you all want I'll dig out some of my ancient photos of the K. Servi Car and Chiefs and post them up. Paul
  16. Looks good. A vinyl sign shop can make up you 911 signs with a clear image and dimensions. Probably won't be reflective but thats minor I would think. Good Luck with it. Paul
  17. Since a lot of places I go are dusty or muddy and crap tossed up from normal roads, how you keep the lenses clean? I look at anything electronic or computer controlled as a cause of grief in the real world. I'll stick with my old technology.
  18. Single Mechanical Brake. . . Not Brakes. Had a shop from 1975 til 1983 called Genuine Motorcycle and Machine in Glen Cove. I did Indians, Harleys and all British. I personally owned over the years a 1947 Triumph 500, a 1957 K model (grand daddy of the sporty) 1922 JD, a 1940 ULA , a 1946 Knuckle (punched out to 80c.i., a 1971 Super Glide and a 1947 and 1952 Indian Chiefs. I'm 62 years old. Riding since 1970 and have never ridden a German or Japanese bike. Pop told me in 1969 if I brought home a Jap Bike he would kick my A$$ all over N.Y.S. So my first was a 1965 Electra Glide that was in a house fire. What a money pit. How I kept the Sporty all these years is a mystery to me.
  19. Nice save Mike. Like the art work too. Paul
