  2. The remains of the AC is 1918, built in New York for the New York Forestry Service. It is mostly complete but we disassembled to remove it from the woods on Niagara Island. Used the the Pratts from 1934 until 1962 when the magneto drive sheared. I have it in a container right now in Gorham Maine at a friends shop. Paul
  3. Not to jump the gun. Is this the plaque in the photo? Are the AB and AC rectangular plaques different? I am going to need a pair down the road. I could use a good tracing to have a company called Tom's Model Works photo-etch them from brass. Seems the AC's went to the "Hood Plaque" about 1919 same time they dropped the round radiator.   4. Not worth the effort needed. People with that mind set get their justice when the call for help in a potentially violent situation, because their anti crime rainbows, stardust criminal repelent and anti gun uni corns didn't stop it. Paul

  6. One thing I've learned is most of the time once the tags are on it and it hits the highway, all of the things you are going to fix or change never seem get done. Do it once, than it's finished . . . except for adding shiny goodies. Paul

  8. The plaques appear to be identical to all but one of my AC's. As for the battery with no generator, one of my older AC's has a Model T Ford style cut out relay (early voltage regulator) between the magneto and the battery. The cut out is adjustable to cut down the Voltage. Might be what your AB had.
  9. Are the lights carbide? Whats the diameter? Do you have the gas generator, valve and tank? Paul

  11. With the side covers removed you'll have access to the top of the lifter most of the valve springs and keepers. Pull the head (intake and exhaust if you feel the need) and PB Blaster into the open stuck valve and the lifter galley . use a leather mallet to carefully work on the stuck valves. Just be sure the high point on the cam lobe isn't pushing on the lifter, it'll drop some unloaded so you can tell. Paul
  12. Lost dogs,stray cats,injured animals,homeless people and nitwits seem to be around me like moths to a light. I feed the dogs and find the owner or a home, cats I'll feed and find homes for, injured animals I'll take to the vet or nurse them to health myself, true homeless, not dopers or drunks I'll feed and help with clothes or work if I have it....nitwits get nothing but disdain for taking up space.   13. Drove the 75 miles to Charlottesville to a vintage toy and collectibles shop that specializes in 1940's through 60's toys and stuff. When I called from Fork Union I told them what I was interested in selling for a fair price they told me to bring it all in. Some Gene Autry Hubley cap pistols, A Hubley Rifleman cap rifle, a MARX plastic 1903 Springfield cap rifle, a big box of 1950's plastic army men, a dozen 50's games some still sealed, some Stereo LP drag racing albums from the mid 60's, a dozen promo Ford and Mercury's from 1958 to 1965 and a couple dozen Aurura and Johan unbuilt car models from the late 50's, Just misc stuff. After the drive and humping in 5 milk crates of crap treasures the 50 something owner tells me "to remove the guns before he will even talk with me, we don't sell toys that promote violence here" Told him very politely "thanks for the 150 mile round trip and helping me learn that being an a$$hole is universal and not just a New York thing."   15. I took the advise of an Antique engine rebuilder called Flat Head Jack pulling my 1929 AC Mack Engine appart.. Clean the rust and crap off the head nuts and the studs. Heat until a very dull orange and stick a pariffin candle on the stud and nut for 30 or more seconds. When the nut cools the paraffin gets pulled in. You may need to do it twice. Work the nut back and forth to work it off. His advise for getting the heads off the studs was to clean the rust and crap off the studs and head. Than liberally soak the studs with PB Blaster and PB them and tap around them over a few weeks, I did that over a 3 week period and used a pair of wide flat putty knife style gasket scrapers (the blades done flex like a putty knife) to work around the heads to get movement. To about eek to get each head off, but the engine did sit exposed to the weather for 40 or more years it came apart pretty easy. He used Milk of Magnesia (The suggestion for that is in the Ford model T and A service manuals) on the stud shoulders only, for re assembly to prevent problems if the head has to be removed again.
  16. I have them on my International Tater hauler and no problems at about 500 miles a year. I do put RV tire covers on them because it sits outside. Stops U.V. damage to them. Paul
  17. Can't locate a spring clip try E-6000. It is an Industrial Adhesive for Aerospace originally. Home Depot and even Wal Mart carry it. Takes 12 hours to fully cure and will take temps fairly well. It is some what easy to remove if needed.

  20. Look under the webbing on the grill shell that the hood rests on. You should find a series of screws holding it on to the radiator, I believe.
  21. Being of Banished English Ancestry from Cheshire County in England in the mid 1600's for piracy, we learned to keep up with the Crowns Activities, until now its a habit. As for not knowing reasons for holidays it seem to sadly be universal now days. They're a day off for a party or sales at the mall no history. Paul
  22. I would think it also depends on how you drive it, like you stole it or like you got to pay to repair it. Makes a difference to my usage. Paul
