    Most all are triple frames. Between the roads, loads and dump sites, triple rails are mandatory for it's survival.

    Defiantly started out as an NJU. Production contract for 1940 was for 700 units total, of which 692 were Pontoon trailer tractors, 8 were Topographical trailer tractors. November 1941 about half were released to the Brits in Egypt. The U.S. Army standardized the Autocar as the replacement for the NJU. The balance were transfered to Commonwealth troops.

    If it happens when it gets wet, look at the connectors to see if they are weather proof and tight, the wires to see it there is chaffed wires that get wet and short out. The flashing with the rear light when the spreader is running could be from the vibrations grounding out the harness to the lights. I would look close at the connectors, harness and grounds.

    Pop had a cement mixer with a make and break on a 1930 Packard chassis. Disappeared when I was in the service. As a kid was always amazed by it's run and rest cycles. Paul

    About 200 or 250 made for France, Brits took most when France surrendered. Brits used them in middle east to haul Light Tanks. Pretty rare beast as many were used up in WWII and Israels War of Independence. Modified version of Civilian BX 18 tonne 6 x 4, 131 h.p Thermodyne. 10 speed

    The Fiberglass F cabs were made in Melbourne by a company called Reinforced plastics, who also made the cabs for the 3800 series Atkinsons. F models had extra long grab handles. They were only available on the plastic cabs. From The Australian Mack Centennial book.

    If Penns laws are the same as N.Y. ZERO!! After the papers are filed by the mrs. You convince her to go to Florida, Nevada or any where out of state for a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks. In N.Y. she loses all rights in the court system... at least in N.Y.

    Whats not to be happy about? Tie and jacket, sitting on the water tank and the fuel box, fire box at our knees, stack pushing smoke and cinders in you face... all for 10 cents an hour. . .

    There was a 2 valve tip turbine rate at 350 h.p. It was originally called the ENDT678, later became a E6-350. What the differences are for the higher h.p. I do not know. Paul

    Everything I've heard and seen on Windows 8.1 is negative. It seems that Micro Soft is trying to push 8.1 users to go with Windows Cloud. Went to Google Chrome and never looked back.

    I only knew the answer because we saw it up close in the mid 80's when we visited friends in Israel. I spend most time at Latrun Museum, the Railway Museum and the IDF museum in Tel Aviv and just looking around. Paul
