  1. NYDOT is now working on legislation for ALL farm vehicles AND towed farm equipment to have NYDOT numbers. A few of the questions asked at the public meeting in Hauppogue was does that mean you will need to have a CDL to operate it? Will they need NYS registration and HUT? The mouth piece said "we are studying those items". It's all $$$$$
  2. When I grew up almost everyone had a station wagon or a 4 door car. I never saw owning one as a stigma. When I worked sfter scholl at Chamberlin Chevrolet in Oyster Bay, the ower had a COPO 1969 Caprice wagon with 396, 4 speed, buckets, console . All the things you would get on an Impala SS but in a station wagon. My uncle who owner Oyster Bay Shell had a 1967 Fairlaine 390 4 speed.
  3. Ain't that the truth. I own an 392 blown Alcohol engine from my Funnycar I ran in 1972 and 3 Stage III Max Wedges. I went with this combo for the weight to power and the ability to run any fuel from real gas to E-85. Plus with a tweak in the computer it'll make 540 h.p.. With a cam change, different coil packs and injectors it's good for 625 h.p. , put the Hell Cat induction on it and we're over 700 h.p. and still in the mid 20's on mpg! Way more power then my MAX Wedges on a good day.. The 8 speed automatic gives me an Overdrive of .76 in 7th gear and .62 in 8th. Combine that with the rear gear of 2:93 I'll have a pretty good top end and probably mpg in the mid 20's. First trip in to the modern electronic engines and to be honest, I rather get power with a laptop than a zillion dollars worth of parts and machine work. Paul
  4. Any photo's / specs on the 12 cylinder?
  5. We tried to float a MUTT in Siagon. . .didnt work at all!!
  6. Didn't NYDOT tell us it would be a minimal cash out lay to meet their new regs. . .
  7. In December of 1942, the Mack bus plant in Allentown, Pennsylvania was requisitioned by the Navy for use building torpedo bombers. It was estimated that over six months in starting production of the bombers could be saved by using the Mack plant. Other services to the Navy included the development of a 400HP, 12-cylinder, supercharged diesel, and the delivery of numerous Mariner Diesel engines for use in the Navy’s smaller landing craft. Any body have info on the 12cylinder or the Mariner diesel?
  8. Probably put a micro fuse in it and be watching it by the CEE MEANT POND
  9. I've noticed a lot of older un used trucks in Israel all seemed to be burned out. Any ideas why? Paul
  10. I Horan, Island and a few single trucks here on L.I. are still paint. There was a woman doing the striping, lettering and gold and silver leaf name Thea. She learned from her father. She stripped a few of my vehicles a few years ago. I went to a Rat Rod / Rock a Billy Show and there was a few stripers there. Seems thats the group preserving the art. Paul
  11. Nice shot of the Christe dual kit and chain guards. ! Both pretty rare.
  12. I bought a 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst TNT Edition. The plan is to update the Drive train with a new crate engine, SRT automatic and a 4 wheel disc brake system. I was originally going to order a new 528 Wedge and a performance Torqueflite. For 3/4 the outlay I got a 392 HEMI (485 h.p. / 475 torque) and plug and run, with stand alone computer system, all the accessory drives and a 8 speed automatic tranny. Bonus! Mopar sent the Crate engine with a double disc S/ R/T Clutch assembly, gets me $580 credit from Mopar on it. That will pay for most of the fuel system changes forit. Paul
  13. When the president got elected?
  14. Orient Point ended up with 34 inches, we got another 2 inches this morning.
  15. Farmer could not do the job, he's missing the drool factor and perfect hair.
  16. Never saw that on any AC AK Chassis, saw them on some military trucks, HMMV's and mid 50's 60's Mopar trucks and on some 4x4 transfer cases. Like to know how it was done.
  17. Parts of mine under a few of the gaskets were Dark Grey/ Black Also have seen them dark green, light green and Chassis color. But all my info and disassembly shows the Dark Grey/ Black. Good color match is a Floquill Grimmy Black Rail Road Color. I posted a color chip last pic. First 2 photos are AARON's Logging Close to the OEM color. Last photo is a 1923 MACK display engine, Supposedly pretty original.
  18. See it has a Disc Brake adapted between rears in the 2nd and 3rd pics. Interesting idea. Can't see if it's a mechanical parking brake or an hydraulic disc "road" brake.
  19. We got 28 27.8 one the East End 4 + foot drift in front of shop. Bah had to shovel the door to get the tractor out to plow. Paul
  20. Classic shot of Swindler A
  21. The 90 degree drive on the front drives of the crank driven oil pump and drves through a worm gear the Magneto and the Water Pump. Simple and compact witrh only two major parts to get wear. The rubber hose the they replaced the copper tube with is a constant flow of oil to the cylinder head oil heater tank. (see last photo) The engine in the top photos has the early gas primer cups on the heads, two of mine have that both pre 1930. AC 6 ENGINE AC 6 Engine Look at the oil diagram, it has an "oil tank" cast on the front cylinder head to heat the oil when it is cold out. Oil system is a Full Pressure with pump driven of the nose of the crankshaft ...just like modern Chevy V-8s.
  22. Second item down. Description says Starter CH http://www.dexheavydutyparts.com/search.php?series=33&qsearch=TRUE
  23. NYC got around crap. . .we have 28 27.8 inches with a few 4 or 5 foot drifts.
  24. It's now on my bucket list of things I'd like to do .
