  2. Do the Paystar and the Workstar have the CAT changes or just the Paystar?
  3. For some reason I can't link the photos. http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/1933mack3.jpg.html Terrapro http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/terrapro1.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/b1.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/lf1.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/MR7.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/B8151.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/h6.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/w71d-1.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/w71a.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/Picture003-2.jpg.html http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/Picture006.jpg.html DMM HOOD Conversion http://s79.photobucket.com/user/41chevy-photo/media/MACKS/pump1.jpg.html
  4. Got to remember one thing with all the teens and twenties trucks and the brakes, gearing and power. In their day we had may 20% paved highways with macadam or concrete. Most were still wagon trails or less. City roads were cobble stone or packed dirt and clay either oiled or watered. A lot of places these trucks went our modern units would have a ton of trouble with. As for the loads, those people never knew it couldn't be done most times they were the first motorized vehicles to move the loads and go where they did. Early drivers were real teamsters who went with the trucks the same places they went with the horses or mules. AC MACK could be gotten with an optional 7 and 2 gearbox. I don't know anybody who ever saw one except in the spec sheets. My grand mother would drive into the corn field with her Packard and most times get stuck. Could never understand why when she had a horse and buggy before the Packard, she wouldn't get stuck. Paul
  5. Change final drive ratio by going up or down on primary drive sprocket. I have a few different ones. The standard is 14 tooth, I have OEM 12 and a 13 tooth primaries that were a $8.10 factory optional pack. Rears are 39 and 43 teeth. I have an after market set from 1937 that are 21 primary and 47 final. With the 40 x 6 rear wheels and tires it would give you a top speed of about 50 + at 1600 RPM. Loads? This was at the high end of normal Early 7 1/2 tonner with NO front brakes by probably have Bendix Vacuum Assist with a trailer load rated for 60,200 pounds ( 28 long tons) . Truck weight + trailer weight + 95500 pound (44.4 long tons) Marion, all pulled with 70 or 74 h.p. in the BRONX .
  6. Sorry but with the budget cuts and EPA, DHS, NEA NIMBY and Vacations and Golf we were forced to combine the two. Please stand in marked areas.
  7. Revell of Germany which is now a separate company (owned by the employees) from Revell of U.S. (owned by Hobico / Tower Hobbies) and Bruder of Germany have the European licensing rights to the new MACKS and Volvos, has a Granite in the works but it probably will not be available in North America. Similar to the Licensing problems AMT has with Navistar over their older I.H. kits. AMT also has the same problems with John Deere's licensing of their plastic models but not the diecast (?) AMT's changes in ownership caused licensing problems too. Each change in managment changed licensing agreements. AMT went from stand alone to AMT -Matchbox. AMT- Lindsley, AMT- General Mills (yup the cereal people), ERTL and finally AMT-Round 2. Licensing has killed production of a lot of model subjects. . .NASCAR models, current Dragsters and Funny cars and even Autocar to name a few. PAACAR even wants licensing on model truck decals to the tune of $5 per sheet. As for NASCAR and NHRA's licensing wants, the car and parts manufactures, team sponsors, the team themselves, the drivers and team owners each want a licensing fee per kit. And not small change either it would add approximately $40. to the cost of each plastic model kit. Paul
  8. Hope everybody and the families on BMT have a great New Year!!!
  9. If you help me find my keys, I'll open the car and put the lights on
  10. Wonder if they had to pry his buns off the seat?
  11. Birth of a road gator could do it, but not the intake tube. Looks pretty good thought depending on $
  12. It took effect . . . but not in a good way. . . .
  13. Had a few of the originals as wreckers for NYC use, good truck, perfect for city use. I hated to get rid of them.
  14. Good eyes Mike , I couldn't see the cap. Paul
  15. On the "Tire End" it's a straight axle, the drive sprocket is on the brake drum. The primary drive sprocket is on the trans-axle which has a ring and pinion and spider gears. Front unit is 3 or 4 speed transmission , rear is differential and stub axles to primary sprocket.
  16. MACK made running improvements as the were developed the put them in to production. The shifter in the brochure is a 4 speed in a 5 or 7 ton unit so it is much different. I agree on the quality of the castings and hardware and machine work a lot of pride in it. I hate to say it but in some instances in better than on my B-61. My AC-6 was in use until 1978 or 1979. If the drive to turn the house didn't fail it probably would have been used longer. I would expect not a lot of down shifting with the straight cut gears and the long linkages. Two of mine have a momentary magneto kill button on the wheel, I almost think it would kill the magneto to give you some engine brake. NY-B61, my dad and uncle got me into collecting old catalogs, repair manuals and photos. They were into antique trucks and cars when most considered them just used vehicles. Paul
  17. welcome. Where in n.y. are you?
  18. An a titanium Hammer
  19. Crap from China, what else.
  20. I lengthened the power cord and the battery cables on mine to add 25 feet. You can get a remote Solar panel in Sears or Northern Tool that are probably the most workable. It has a larger solar panel to compensate for the loss if you lengthen the cables. http://www.sears.com/battery-tender-5-watt-solar-tender-charger-with/p-02871257000P?sid=IDx01192011x000001&kpid=02871257000&kispla=02871257000P&kpid=02871257000&mktRedirect=y
  21. What ever batteries you end up using, pick up a basic maintenance charger that keeps them from going below a specific voltage. I bought a solar powered one that works pretty well at Auto Zone for $25.
  22. Isn't that how you rotate the shoes?
  23. Nice door mat. My wife wouldn't get upset over that one, she hats the one I have at my shop
