  1. One thing is the time frame of the early mid 50's, A perfect idea to beat the length laws of the time tractor trailer ( 42 foot total length law Illinois had). It sure would have saved time wasted tucking the trailer up to the cab to get that and than moving it back for local use. I saw a lot of similarities between Fageol, but how much different can adding a drivers compartment on a trailer. Fruehauf also made Mobil Televison Broadcast trailers for KTLA T.V. in 1954 and they were used until 1967. Fruehauf also converted a pair of Crown buses to Box Trucks for Red Skelton in 1962. Paul
  2. after the brake test video, I think we know how they did it.

  5. Funny but I've never seen a MACK that's not likable or "pretty". The worst is done, touch up the white and enjoy it!! Paul
  6. Ha! Ha! The Jump box supplies power to the electric fan motor that turns the spinner and the inverter powers the CD player that makes the Radial Engine sound from 4 speakers buried between the cylinders. Those P.W. engines seep more oil than the worst DD does on a bad day.
  7. They won't turn because the compression load is over 1750 psi to compress them (Mopar specs). What we found on the Dodge chassis was they were compressed tight on the heads but the shaft diameter was to under sized to "fill the hole diameter. A few ten thousands of an inch movement of each rivet and add that into the rail length and that will magnify that exponentially . The reason I thought of the chassis was because the number of trucks with the problem and I would bet the production dates are close. One off batch of rivets from the supplier would affect a few hondred chassis I imagine. Paul
  8. I think I see Brockway lights and Deere Green. . . .

  12. We use it for our V.V. of A. for fund raising to restore this P2V-3 Neptune. He was a power plant tech on them in 1968/ 69. Paul
  13. Now, now. . . he appears to be way overloaded with carbon molecules and feather merchant crates.
  14. Eaton 2 Speed. Ford used them up to 1945, 1946 to 1952 Vacuum and 1953 and up were electric.
  15. More we look at the truck the more we have come to the conclusion it is based on a mid 50's Fruehauf or Trailer Mobile unit look at the general details of the units. I lean towards Freuhauf because of last photo of the Fruehauf Sport Cruiser 1956 Fruehauf 1962 Trailer Mobile Museum de Transport, Caracas, Venezuela. Describes this as a 1959 Road King Nestle coffee transporter Fruehauf Sport Cruiser

  20. Road King Moving and Storage, now Road King Transportation has been around since the 1920's (now based in Georgia) , wonder if they built their own trucks like the C.F Freightliners , LaCrosse Auto Carriers, Convoy Auto Carriers or ARCO Auto Carriers. Paul
  21. I'm sure MACK checked it, but I'm just curious, has anyone ever checked to see if the chassis rails to cross members all bolted or riveted to correct specs? I did a few D-500 Dodges in the 80's that wandered all over the road. We found the chassis rails were moving because there was a miniscule bit of movement between the rails and the cross members. We found the rivets compressed did not expand completely "tight" in the holes. The rivet diameter was a few ten thousands smaller than the holes. We set the chassis up on a chassis machine to "square" it and re fastened the cross members. Just a thought. Paul
  22. The White / Allison is being restored and the Quad Al Fiat is in storage at the Peterson Museum in California. Paul

  24. Yes it does. Paul Yes it does. Paul
  25. Could be, the White / Allison was originally owned by Jim Lytle who ran it in California in the 60's. Jim also raced a Quad Allison powered Fiat. Tex Collins owned Cal Automotive that made Fiberglass T bodies and other glass hot rod parts. Here is Jim Lytes / Tex Collins Fiat.
