  1. Sure it isn't a 218 or a 250 six? Shouldn't be a problem, the basic block was in production until 1960 or 1961 when the slant 6 came out. They were equipped with 2 speed automatics but find one now. There are a few adapters to do the conversions for the 1940's 50's Mopar passenger cars / light trucks to run a GM 4L80E 4 speed automatic which is heavy duty light medium truck. Low first gear and high overdrive. That makes it usable on the highway. I'll need a few days to come up with a list of what he will need and where in the area he can find it. There is one performance Transmission shop I've uesd since the 70's for my Funnycar tranny / hot rod autos and F.D. Tournament rigs. They are in East Moriches that I would trust to do the swap and re program the shift points for the engine torque curve, rear gear ratio and truck weight. I'll call monday and talk to Frank and see all the options available. Can you get me the truck weight and find out if there is any accessories driven of the trans. Paul
  2. With all the ice and snow I have a bit of down time so to keep occupied I've decided to cure some house problems. One was every time my wife comes in she opens the door into the stop and shakes the whole house. Using the Red Greene / Tim Allen approach my peanut brain figured a loud noise would stop the door problem....So duct tape a air horn to the rubber stop.... Simple and effective...... Poof! another idea shot to crap. The Cure. T H E R E S U L T . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
  3. Pics say it all
  4. You're raising a good man there, who will be successful at anything he does in life. All from you and Mrs P's selflessness, values and Christian beliefs. Proud to know you!! Paul
  5. They would post about the red tape, EPA regulations for the engine, environmental impact study if it crashes, effect on endangered birds if it flies, chemical content of glues, the lack of minority workers in their shop, and the amount of insurance to test the aircraft and on and on and on. . .
  6. Floatation Device installed. Surprised we don't have a reality show on this
  7. Only in a few areas and mostly on each coast. My Avatar is of my mail box holder. It is perfectly legal and not thing one my yuppie neighbors can do about it. It is art.
  8. Man Diaper??? or Weenier pants ??
  9. This count? 2 loaded and 2 more inside.
  10. One problem is people think it's too stupid a law to get passed and poof it does. The Township of Oyster Bay passed a commercial vehicle parking ordnance for "private" property that if they had signage the could not be visible from the street. They had to be parked behind a fence, hedges or in a garage. The law was knocked down after a year by the courts. The rewritten law prohibited the parking of any commercial vehicle in any residential area if they were over 7 ft tall and 20 feet long. Passed and up held. The origin of the law was to help the Realtors selling homes..." no body want to by a home when there are dirty trucks in he neighborhood so agents are losing thousands of dollars in commisions". If the line they tell the general public why they need the regulations is convincing and since most people do not ride bikes or motorcycles and consider them "in the way" when they go on their self important trip to Starbucks, they could care less about it. AS for the legality Do you seriously think any politician really gives a sh*t if it is legal or constitutional? If Obammamama and his crew don't worry or care about doing things legally and following the U.S. Constitution, why should they.
  11. Scary! but trhis guy is a real Suffolk County Legislator I own 3 Motorcycles, my fathers 1950 hydra-Glide, a 1972 Super Glide and a 1971 XL1000 Sportster. If they want them, they best bring body bags... a lot.

  16. A Suffolk County lawmaker said he doesn't believe anyone should ride a bicycle or motorcycle in the county -- an assertion he made in a letter to a 17-year-old whose mother was struck by a car while bicycling. "My personal feeling is that no one who lives in our hamlet or for that matter in Suffolk County should ever ride a bicycle or motorcycle," wrote Legis. Thomas F. Barraga (R-West Islip) in his Jan. 29 letter. "Suffolk County is a suburban automobile community -- drivers expect to see other drivers on the road not bicyclists and motorcyclists. Therefore with the full backing of the Suffolk County Legislature and Goverener Cuomo , we have submitted a bill to ban the use of bicycles, go peds, scooters, motorcycles and other 2 wheel vehicles on all Suffolk County roads, lands and parks. Usage of N.Y.S. and Federal highways are exempt" Glad I'm getting out. Paul
  17. Have a good birthday!
  18. White House announced the purchase of 600 of them, to replace our aging fleet of F35 fighters.
  19. I left a little before my cousin Gene (Chubby) left to move up state. I went to work for senior painting his trucks and trailers and doing mechanical when slow. Used to dread having to go talk to Anne (?) in the office. Bob Slater was shop steward, Duane Dodd "the road worrier" kept me busy with damaged bumpers and hoods. Visits from Pete Horan always spiked up Burlys day. Good times. Paul
  20. WQhen I left it was MACKs only one or two Supeliners, B81 ten wheelers, R model tractors and ten wheeler, a few DM800's and Burly srs original B61.That was over 30 years ago.
  21. Always Cerro Wire, DQ, Burger King went into where the Wetsons was on Jericho Turnpike in 1969. A 1960 Caddy still owned by the photog. and where the photographer was standing is now the center of the West bound Service road for the LIE. Thus concludes our tour of Robins Lane, tip cup at the exit.
  22. Geez! How many 750 Hondas and H2 Kawi's I destroyed at 4 whacks with a maul for $2 at my old 4th of July parties. By these prices about 1/2 million dollars worth or more!.
  23. 2nd photo of Horans Superliner (Think that it was "hairdo's truck ) where was that taken? I don't think Burly Junior has any MACKS any more except his dads B. Paul
  24. Robin Lane Syosset L.I. just before when the LIE is now. About 1963, MACK Rail Unit and B moving the rail unit Oyster Bay Yard to the Jamaica LIRR yard. FYI the Rail unit is reciently restored and in a Connecticut Collection. (pic from Sam Breliner III collection)
  25. He should have been allowed to continue through China when he had them on the ropes in 1951, same as Ike and Truman stopped Paton from re equipping the Germans in 1945 and going through Russia. Both Generals saw the future. Won't voice my political opinion because of the self appointed post monitor...
