  3. A pretty normal occurrence from what I've seen. There was a ship yard in Greenport that closed in 1957 when the owner died. We walked through it in 1992 and aside from the dust it looked like the workers went home at the end of the day. A Blow torch on a bench next to a hull being stripped of paint, a forty some thing foot boat on the weigh's. The job chart on the wall with work numbers on it, a new Chrysler flat head marine engine in a crate. Hardware, paint and fittings in the parts room and the largest bandsaw I've ever seen with a partially cut part on it. All tied up in probate court.
  4. And now one of his "advisers" owns most of the company that has the pipe line that will take up the slack when Keystone is is vetoed http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/27/critics-accuse-keystone-foe-hypocrisy-over-oil-investment-history/

  6. There was a company called PIRSCH in Kenosha Wisconsin that built fire trucks, it was closed down 1990 /or so and had a new Pete in the shop the body partially installed and Ford 9000 series Pumper in the paint shop that was taped up still there in 2000, tied up in the courts.

  13. Looked at a new RAM 5500 Chassis with a 6.7 Cummins in it, had a Made in China tag on the engine, Made in China on the Turbo and Hankook tires. Hope the entire line isn't going asian.
  14. The tires are put on a tire lathe that actually shaves the tire to make it round. Than the get balanced. Paul
  15. Bandag Boss Truck, 1971 KW in 1976
  16. And then we have GM . . . .owned by the UAW (52%) and the FEDS moving a large part of their body stamping and body assembly operations of Cadillac and Buick to China. It's ''more cost effective'' because it's ''closer'' to the raw materials. course it does give the UAW an entire new source of dues paying members. Paul
  17. Get well Mr "P". Paul
  18. " I'm gonna fix it up when ah get time" That's what I hear each time I talk to him. The interior was vandalized when it was first parked, but at least the windows are rolled up against the critters moving in. I don't expect it will ever be sold or restored sadly. Paul
  19. You have to look for the periods between U.S.A. the Japanese town is called USA. I have a few pressed steel toys from there. Google map USA JAPAN to see it. Paul
  20. I went with my uncle to Denton to pick it up. He flew down and spec'ed it out at the factory. Don't know if that made a difference in build any. The only problem I've had since 1995 is it ate the sleeper to cab seal once. Taken it every April for the past 7 years to the Marmon Home Coming in Denton Texas with no problems so far, but it has has an easy life for 25 years. Hauled cattle corn and spinach when it was new, 4 trips a year. Paul
  21. this is the one in Texas I've been trying to get for a few years. It's heavy spec'ed for oil patch work.
  22. I go to the local hardware store and 84 Lumber or Riverhead Building supply, I've found the prices are most times equal to or slightly better than the big box stores and the quality of the lumber is slightly better. I also like to deal with someone who is in it for the long run and knows the products, not a kid flipping burgers one day and selling hardware the next day. we are big fans of supporting Main Street USA instead of the Big Box China stores. Just my opinion. . . Paul
  23. Like the Binder and the Drom box!! Forgot about them. Paul
  24. I knew this was in all the vintage photos I bought!!
