A lot is corporate greed, plain and simple and it's been that way for 100 years. But many of the feds recent decisions and regulations have been detrimental to growth and start ups. We have an EPA that enacts regulations without any rhyme or reason except that THEY feel it's good for us. They answer to answers to no one. We have a government that passes laws and requirements the public opposes. A president who keeps transferring more and more power to the executive branch. Governors and county execs who write and pass laws behind closed doors and all have no fear of retribution because 90% of the public could care less, as long as they have the toys and the "stuff" they want and their reality shows to watch. The politicians know that most people haven't a clue as long as the media tells them it's good for them. Stupid laws that cost money and benefit who? The ADA rules require that ATM's in the DRIVE in windows have BRAILE on them. Blind Drive? Health care act? When I file my federal returns this year and do not submit proof of health insurance with my return, the IRS will now fine me. If my policy is below or above the parameters set by them, the IRS will fine me. The feds are writing 400 plus pages of regulations a day to set the penalty code and define and clarify the Health care act. I get regulated to death for the small bit of farm land I have. How much water I can use and when, type of fertilizers, even regulations on the dust from plowing. . .All these regulations in the past 3 years too. I'm old enough know with my physical problems from Viet Nam, my time is limited to maybe ten years to live with this cluster f**k. I do feel sorry for kids like Vinney who are not going the have an equal shot at the American Dream , who will be regulated to a lower standard of living than us. Paul

The R/ R engines that were being build for the P51's were a combined design of Rolls Royce , Packard and Merlin. More more power, range and altitude. One thing they all lacked over the German power plants was fuel injection.

Only 75 to 100 psi in these lines, they are for the 8 injectors on my 2.3 Mustang 4 cylinder. I showed them for an example of the fitting set up. These fittings and collars are aluminum but they are also available in stainless and ultra high pressure steel The flares that replaced the lines 39babymack shows are an inverted flare the is a 3 step process and requires a press, the dies and the arbors to make the flare and the Go / NOGO gauge to check the end result. The originals were made with the sweat brazed fittings because the tooling and technology to do the line flares was new in 1938 / 39 and mainly in the Aircraft industry.

The L lookslike it needs very little beyond cosmetics. Paul

No nipple or heat, the lines have AN fittings. . . a "collar" that fits up to the back of the "flare" that the line nut fits on. It is an early high pressure Aircraft hydraulic design. These are lines I'm making up for one of my projects.

The engine is a Durant Star made from 1922 to 1928. . .early GM

The injector line length should be equal across the board. The flares are extremely difficult to make to the proper size. A good reputable diesel shop that does lines, pumps and injectors, will also use a "GO NO GO" gauge to insure the flares meet the specifications. Paul

The injector line length is very important!! The lines ALL must be the same length... The fuel injection timing is based on pump to injector nozzle distance plus offset from TDC, and if the lines are not the same, the firing timing is different for each cylinder.This will result in low power and/or high exhaust temps, and higher fuel use. One other thing, most all of the hard lines where the hose attaches have a small rolled "bead to prevent the hose and clamp from blowing off under stress and pressure. We moved where we are now because of just that crap. We were not allowed to park a Commercial vehicle in the yard that had "signage", was longer than 20 feet and was taller than 7 feet. If it met those "requirements it could not be visible from the road. Got a warning on the dented metal trash cans... so we started wrapping up the trash like presents, right down to a bow so they town code enforcement would find them pleasing to the eye...Sanitation asked up to please use out metal trash cans again... in writing!. People would see the "presents" and steal them, find them full of garbage and toss them on the street about a mile or two away. Much different where we are now. The only thing frowned on is un tagged, inoperable vehicles visible from the street. Notice my avatar is my dead CAT on the front lawn....
