  1. Do you get extra money iffin you can tell them what the 3 pedals are for? Reason being when I was at Gabralli Mack today all the just delivered Mack units were M drives, looked at the pair of K.W. s and they were automatics. Wouldn't look at the Swedes cause they make me itch. Does any of the newbie cowboys learn to drive a manual box anymore?
  2. f all else fails Good Year make an item called E-Z Coil . Goes over the outside of your hose and allows 90 degree bends in straight hoses with no collapse. Comes is all sizes up to 1 1/2 inch dia Paul
  3. The pic was in the papers after the race. The Cuda went into the crowd and killed 3 people, the for was owned by Rob Raube who owned Plainview Ford and got a ton of bad juju from that pic from Ford Corporate The 70 GTX sounds like a mild car that was owned by Zach Rhodes AKA "Froggie" A black guy named BROOKLYN HEAVY ran Dick Harrell prepped big block Camaros. A 8.5 / 155 mph plus on the strip. sec car at the time. Had a car hauler and would off load it at an entrance ramp. run to the next and right up on his hauler and leave. Ran alot of races at $15000.00 a pop. Went to prison for drugs and one of his Dick Harrell Camaros set in a gas station in Wantaugh for years before it was junked. . . complete in race trim too. This Mopar ran a Leong and Cook prepped Hemi touching 1000 hp on 60% nitro. It was owned by a guy who worked at Savinno's Auto in Brooklyn, who did chassis prep on Funny cars and Pro Stocks at the time. I have over 500 photos and 25 or so 8mm films from when I was active in the L.I. N.Y.C Under Ground Racers Club from the 70's and early 80's, including a home movie of us street racing our Alcohol funny car against a 200 inch wheel base blown Olds powered gas dragster in Bayonne N.J. Almost 25 grand was put up for the run in 1972 money. One race, a draw caused by the NJSP.

  5. Make sure you seal off all the intake and exhaust ports, prevents moisture and critters for finding homes. Also a good idea to take the tension off of the accessories by loosing the belts. Paul
  6. In the end it will save all kinds of hassles. . . Large trucks are small town cash cows now that every municipality is getting in on truck checks. Paul
  7. Hope you get the red X ray glasses in the first pic too !!
  8. Heres some of the good and bad of the Bronx in the 70's. Mott Haven by the Bruckner. CBE exit. Schuylerville "races" on Waterbury Ave. Mutt Brothers Cuda won $8,000.00 off of Plainview Fords T Bolt Fairlane
  9. It's red....you could always make it the "LEVERSOLE FIRE DEPARTMENT" truck. :whistling: This tows a camper trailer and is a non CDL unit. Run into him a Hersey every year.
  10. Below 30Degrees you need a healthy dose of Anti Gel, a good water seperator as the Bio Diesel is Hydroscopic and sucks up moisture like a sponge, which than will slush the lines. Iif the fuel was not treated to enough anti wax additive a tank pick up tube heater is also needed. Tough to get a return on the investment IMO Just the Cetane additive is over $200.00 for a 2 quart container and it treats only 200 gallons of bio or less depending on how refined it is. I did a lot of research and asked a ton of questions of the people who use it and the companies who sell the equipment and the Chemicals. Here I also need a permit to have the mini refinery a permit from the NYDEC for the oil storage and a permit from the Fire Marshall to store the chemicals on site. Paul
  11. They were fast before the age of battery powered tools, think how quick they are now! Got off to pick up 4 cars at the AVIS yard in Maspeth. I passed a guy walking away from his VW Bug off the LIE eit, came back past it in about 45 minutes and it literally was a shell. Hunts Point night rules were don't stop for anything, don't slow down and if the way was blocked with a stripped shell of a car either go around if of blow it out of the way. The little weasels would slow you down enough to get up on the trailer and unload as much as they could while you were rolling. If you came to a stop it was Custers last stand. Some good spots in the city. . .CBE , the Hunts Point 500 , and the Alphabet City shuffle. . . don't miss any of that.
  12. Bio fuel for vehicles is much different than for a waste oil heating system, I looked in to it last year for a 120 to 190 gallon 3 tank home refinery unit was $5000.00 Methanol.KOH and NaOH (processed lye/ resin pellets) for the refining process, Drionex for the dry wash purification process to remove meth-oxide and other "catalyst chemicals and finally Anti Gel and Wax additive, Algacide and Cetane Improver to help biodiesel burn clean and light off easier , total up another $2000.00 plus per 750 gallons of Bio Diesel. Add on the Methanol recovery system to pull the methanol from the other chemicals for reuse. Time to load and run the system, clean the system after each run and electricity and water costs to refine it out weighed the savings for me. Paul
  13. Good or bad Mike, we are all here for support . Paul

  15. It's the same truck! A post WWII U.S.A.F. 54376. Wonder if it still has the GMC power pack in it? Took a bit of a beating in the 28 years since the book photo was taken. Paul

  19. Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond did a BBC2 special interview with Evel Knievel. The 60-minute program" Richard Hammond Meets Evel Knievel" aired a month after E.K's death. Evel said the chute activated by a "dead mans" switch. If he released the lever the chute would deploy. He mentioned it the interview that since it when off immediately on launch , it may have malfunctioned if his hand relaxed a little. The real cause unknown. What happened to Evels 1977 Indy car?
  20. How about a 100% stock '50 pan? Was my Pops and I restored it in 1983 and put only 14 miles on it. Side car mounts and 3 speed with reverse side hack box.
