One thing about what people want or like, it's what influences you every day. When I was a kid all that we saw on Long Island was Lizza, Zarra, Pratt, Bromen, Prefered and Colonial B models, R models and Autocars. Farm and municipal trucks were Macks, FWD, Internationals and GMC/Chevys. Oil and Coal companies had Macks, Fords or Whites, Local business and small contractors had Fords, Chevies or Dodges. But Mack and Autocar were what I saw the most of. I only saw other brand trucks on T.V. or movies. I pass another Mack now, its as rare as when I was a kid seeing a Pete, K.W. or other brand. Same I'm sure holds true now. I can't really say I always wanted a Mack, it just seemed natural to have one, it's what I grew up with. Paul

The prints are /were in possession of NYC. I've recieved information from Mr Shuemacher (spelling ?) at the museum that a lot the chassis mounts, cross members and even cab bracing was FDNY specific. At one time every vehicle used by NYC was built to their specifications. Paul

I was fueling up at Shell on Siles Road (101) yesterday around 1:30 and a privately owned M series Mack (M123?) with a low boy went up 101 towards Medford with a Green '30s AC Mack with a Black water tank body on it. The tractor was in Viet Nam era camo and had White sign with red lettering "Ro" something. By the time I finish fueling up and paid he was long gone. Any L.I.ers know who that is? Never saw either at the few truck shows or the ATHS show. Paul

I'm afraid we have moved beyond "political correctness" to what I like to call radical stupidity. A private Christian college can not display crosses where muslin students see them, because they are offensive to them...IT'S A PRIVATE COLLEGE...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU ARE OFFENDED. A child can not wear a cross that is visible but a muslim child can wear a "holy knife" to school? It is not a "war" on God, it is a war against Christian Beliefs and Morals. Not Jewish, Not Muslim, Not Shika, but Christians. Just my 2 cents. Personally, I'll keep my beliefs, morals and my weapons til I achieve "room temperature". Paul
