In N.Y. if it is tagged as Antique, Historical or Farm you are required to pass a N.Y.S. safety inspection, DOT can stop you a see that you meet the N.Y. DMV requirements.... Good brakes, lines and cans, good tires (both tread and no dry rot), mud flaps, mirrors, all lights work including turn and brake lites, wipers, glass (no chips a quarter will not cover and no cracks more than 11 inches into the wiper arc) and no worn, broken or missing steering or suspension parts. A diesels RPMs controlled by the amount of fuel being allowed into it. A worn engine, oil will blow past the piston rings and into the crankcase. The oil from the crankcase gets into the air intake from the breather. A diesel engine will run on this oil. The RPMs increase as the extra oil is taken in. As a result of increased RPMs, more oil is pulled out of the crankcase and into the engine. Now a cycle is created, more RPMs, means more oil, which means more RPMs. A diesel the normally run around 1800 RPM will run up 2 or 3 times that! The engine reaches a point where its now using its own oil as fuel, that shutting off the fuel won't stop it. It will rev up until it blows it self up. The extra oil can come from bad oil seals in a turbo, overfilling the crankcase with oil or even from the out side, like a power steering leak or even a propane or LP gas leak near by. Paul

First time ever in the current Over Drive mag, I read about a 700 mile road test of a new Mack Pinnicale with a loaded trailer, from the Mid America Show in Kentucky to Allentown Pa..David Mc Kennna from Mack and Steve Sturgess. Both vets with 30 plus years in the Trucking industry . It had the 505 H.P. and a M Drive automatic. Good review through the city and mountains. Never see any Mack reviews or road tests. Paul
