  1. There is a statue there too, but I have no idea of who or what...Civil War I think, have to look on sat when I go to the pit. Used to work for Sal at Ghost Motorcycles in the late 60's to pay off my Norton and to a little hobby store called Jumbles with a lady who looked like Granny Clampet. Paul
  2. Rob will be fine....he's like a big fuzzy uncle to us all. Paul
  3. Kno wat u meen bout th site
  4. My wife and I have been debating on the building we lost in the Wild Fire and decided to "go the way of Rob". We got a pretty good check for the vehicles, contents and building. Since Manorville lost their Stump Jumper in the fire and had one firefighter burned and two others injured. We decided to repalce the building with a 10x10 shed and gave the balance towards Manorville replacing their Stump Jumper. Paul
  5. You shoulda had the Haluski....Butter, onions cabbage and noodles all fried up together.mmmmmmmmmmmm
  6. Feel sorry for the van drivers family, but just this morning I watched a pick up go back and forth across 2 lanes of traffic. He was texting on his phone. And your right the lawyers ill twist it on to the truck drive. They tried to with my wreck in december even with the Sheriffs dept Prusuit repoort on the kids! Paul
  7. Could be! The Super Mack Spy Cam shows 6 hours of doodling to put pink hair on Snoopy between naps, butt scratchin and walking round with and empty fuel jug......
  8. Have a photo of the unit in question? R's were all steel cabs in the states as far as I've ever seen. Don't know about the Macks in OZ but I suspect they were the same as here. Like Yarnall mentions it could be a RD series nose you mean. Paul
  9. I cropped the plaque but I'll be over there again this week end. The buildings abut the far western end of the land fill, the Petro property and the Golf Course. There is also some remains of the barge dock next to Bar Beach. Access is only through the town of North Hempstead landfill, but if I get the contract John you are welcome to go for a ride through there with me. The dump truck is at the Clock Tower where Shore Road and Old Northern Blvd join, There wasn't a bridge over Roslyn went the roll over happened. Here is an album from 1948 to the 50's of Colonial. http://www.flickr.com/photos/pwpl/sets/72157622964160839/detail/ Paul
  10. Went the old Colonial Sand Mine today to pick up the bidding papers and view the removal job for the former Colonial / Maccormack / Metropoliian sand mine in Port Washington / Roslyn. A few old drag units, misc equipment and the remains of a processing building and a transfer building to the conveyor belt tunnel. All be abandoned since the early 90's. Sa a SAND MINERS MEMORIAL ther dedicated to the workers at the Port Washing ton, Oyster Bay and Northport pits. The combined pits supplied 90%plus of the sand usewd in the concrete to build NYCs buildings, roads and bridges. Took some photo of the Memorial and some to study for my bid. Also found a few photos from the very early 50's of a Colonial mixer on West Shore Rd with a broken trunion or sprig and a roll over in Roslyn Village with 18 Yds on the ground The Dump chassis looks lie WWII surplus Reo or GMC. Paul 1954 Colonial W.Shore rd. Port Washington 1950 Colonial dump on Old Northern Blvd Roslyn Village

  14. It was there til the turn of the century....2001 . ( Damn always wanted to say that.) Now it's an Indian resturant.
  15. Socialized Health are is the end for us period!! It is not for "us" its for the illegals and the people on the Federal Nipple. Mainly for the vote. I'm almost 60, I planned and worked for my future. I planned for old age, for those that didn't..tough crap, do not expect me to pay for it! Want free health care, free housing and meals? Join the military, go to jail or move to Europe! Just don't come to me! If the Supreme Court upholds Obama Care and the mandate the end has come. The type of vehicle you own, credit cards, food you eat and anything else can be "mandated" for your own good. Cel Phones have already been mentioned as a mandated need to summon help. Help your own, help your neighbors, don't expect the Fed Tit to give you everything...take responsibilty for your self. Damn I feel better now.
  16. When I grew up all there was in big trucks here was Mack and Autocars and the municipals were alway Internationals. Never saw any other brands to much. Paul
  17. Grew up in Oyster Bay and graduated in 1970. Spent every summer at the family farm in Aquebogue til 1978 when I bought the other half. I still had 300 acres in 1985 now I'm down to less than 20. Leased some to Pimdar , gave the House to Hallock museum and the rest is filled with old trucks and equipment. I moved to Shirley a few years ago. My Yard and equipment is in Manorville. I''ll post a photo of my Marmon so you know it.

  21. They already blamed Bush for the GSA spending....after all he let them do it too. I feel they are all corrupt. Look at the small town comptroller in IL who stole millions from the town to buy a horse farm in Wis. a few homes over a quarter mil in jewellery and a 2.1 million dollas worth of trucks and motor homes. The local judge lets her out on a $4500 bond and she cant go beyong Il and Wis. to tend to HER property and investments. They are all cut from the same block and follow the "take it while its there" motto.
