  1. Welcome home.
  2. The quest continues...............
  3. French Mack scrap yard.
  4. Ran when parked.
  5. I ran at National Speedway under the UDRA, Etown and Thundervalley under NHRA , Dragway INC in Pa under AHRA, Bob Barry drove it for two races the went big time. I was running a E/Gasser (still have it) and ran the aa/fc at the same time for all but two races. Best time of 202.45 @ 5:97.7 We ran a 392, 2 speed and a 57 Olds rear. That was the year that Donovan came out with the Aluminum 417.. Alcohol fuel, launched 5 blowers in one season and lost our sponser. Never had the money to do it right, but had a hell of a lot of fun.
  6. Welcome. I'd soak the starter unit in kerosene or diesel. After years of use the vanes (paddles) gum up. What did you do with the mixer unit? My mixer was parked in the late 60's early 70's with a full load.... Paul
  7. "And, most important of all - Don't tell people "it ran when parked". They all did. Just Have Fun, Paul Van Scott" I've found most people with trucks have the good traditional values of of honesty, integrity and willingness to help each other, much different from most car guys. Not including the AMC guys. We dealt with a man in Utah that had a 1954 Mercury Sun Valley for sale, original owner. Sent photos to us via Email of the car. We agreed on a price and drove out there from L.I. to purchase it and trailer it home. Turns out the photos were copies of when it was new...not as it sat in the north forty for 3o years...BUT it ran when I parked it there...still can laugh about that after 14 years though. Paul
  8. Try the Mack museum, if you give them the VIN, they should come up with its build specs as purchased. They ran mostly single axle MR's in the NYC /Long Island area. Paul
  9. Don't know about nude dining, my butt usually sticks to the vinyl seats................
  10. 1946 Neat Checker cabs, Hunts point Market and a well equiped repair shop. Paul http://www.youtube.com/embed/5wnWT750Rmc
  11. My collector pile of vehicles all have collector insurance on them as in progress restorations and NYS historical tags. They are behind a fence and treeline. The insurance and tags remove them from the violation list. As for my other collections......my wife and kids say I'm a hoarder. Paul
  12. Sure like to have a few of them!! Paul http://www.youtube.com/embed/-M2uHll2M14
  13. I added an extra tank to my R and made up the same type brackets from 1/8" thick x 2" x 1" angle from Home Depot. The straps I got at Napa for holding a 10" round muffler. Probbly get it all at a Tractor Supply store. Paul
  14. In the early 70's I ran (blew it up alot)an Alcolhol Funny car for Marinos Italian Ices. Parked it in 1974,picked a lot of 30% of the stuff of it. I've donated / traded it to Don Garlits Museum as it is still mostly in as raced trim from 1973. I'll stop by, my R could use some goodies... Paul
  15. Looking at your pic, looks like it is caused by side scuffing or blunt impact, usually means the belt(s) split for want of a better word. Probbly the age of the tire added to it. Me, I'd look inside the casing and see if its split there to, if not I personally would run them but keep a close eye on them. Paul
  16. Took them back and bought Hastings, I don't need any problems down and back to Ocala. Paul
  17. oool. Paul
  18. There is a third possibilty............. When his story of" "The Resurection of the R model" left off last week , our man was deeply enrapted in fiberglassing the hood. Mean while the intreped shop boy...Mimi Mack was welding the roof, jealously eyeing the bosses fiberglass work....... Could our hero be fiberglassed to the R nose or worse to a volvo?? Tune in next week for more of the new adventures of Reserrection R......
  19. I started buying wire from these people to do my AC's harness. Got OEM style connecters and instrument panel light sockets too. Paul http://www.narragansettreproductions.com/general-supplies-primary-copper-wire.html
  20. It is a homely looking thing ain't it! Paul
  21. Latest satelite images show him crossing a corn field with a few jugs of fuel.......... Hope all is okay with his daughter and grand daughter. Paul
  22. You can do a voltage drop test and check the amp draw on it, probbly cheaper to replace. seeing as it is an intermitant problem you'll have to be prepared to do it when it happens. BUT I personally would take a close look at the electrical switch connector on the key switch, since the Shut down and Malfunction lights act oddly at times. A "soft contact" or a over loaded connection could also cause it to act that way. Paul
  23. These pics were taken at the Freightliner plant in Cleveland North Carolina. We build these and ship them to I assume Europe or Austrailia seeing it's Right Hand Drive. Paul
