A dump trailer into an overhead sign is one thing, but I think this tops it.The cab looks pretty good for what it hit. A Department of Sanitation vehicle crashed through the third floor of building in Queens on Wednesday morning, leaving the driver stranded without coffee while rescuers rushed to the scene. The driver of the truck, a 56-year-old male, was rescued using a tower ladder truck within a half hour of firefighters arriving on the scene, an FDNY spokesperson said He was taken to Elmhurst hospital with neck and back injuries. Over the course of the rescue, 25 units -- over 100 firefighters -- responded to the scene. The incident occurred on the third floor of a sanitation garage at 58-65 52nd Road in Queens, according to the FDNY. The vehicle is a Department of Sanitation salt truck, and although debris from the building fell on the sidewalk, no other injuries have been reported. According to the New York City Office of Emergency Management, roads around the area have been closed due to a "structural incident."

The 2 Nomars are from Avis and are just plain abused. This is to haul my stuff, the parts for my AC, the B when it is started on and other goodies. I did the tow thing years ago, N.Y. has licensed and regulated it to death here. State licensed truck and driver, (specific tow vehicle plates) county licenses, NYC licenses and a ton of town, village and township licenses. Paul

Looks like the 5th wheel was added,it's got a fresh home made rear crossmember and the remains of the bolts holding on the wood body spacers in the 2nd to last photos. From what I know ,the tractors were short wheel base in the 30's and 40's to deal with the length laws. Still a cool truck to put a F350 pick up box on.

I like Century, worked a second job in the mid 70's installing Century wrecker and car carrier bodies. Weldbilt is near me and they have 5 or 6 used carriers for sale reasonably priced. The Challenger is Aluminum. My other option is a Jer-Dan without a tow bar. Three others they have, 2 I wouldn't consider as they are crap are a pair of Nomars and the other is industructable but to much $ is an ORTEZ made in Brooklyn. I got time to find exactly what I need so thats a plus. I've used both Muncie and Chelsea ptos and pumps with good results and both are available close by me.

The air ride was apparently an add on by Mineola Mack according to all the paper work I got with it. I feel bad for the farmer, between the past winter, floods last fall and the heat spell this summer he's packing it in after 55 years. I've located a used 2004 Challenger aluminum 1 car roll back with a tow bar for it. So it will be used one way or another. As form my wife, shes a keeper. Even when we were kids she was right next to me making a v dub dune buggy, putting a clutch in my Corvair, and last week doing axles on her Cavalier... Paul

Read up on the unlimited power the "super senate" has for any change they see fit. That is going to be abused...Health care, taxes, treaties, gun control ,the enviroment anything they deem improtant to "save us" Best to read up on their power, it ain't just budget.... Paul -
It's an 80 with a 300h.p. 6 speed. Took it for a ride this morning ang left a deposit, I'll pick it up on tuesday. The cab levels up when running, so I assume a bag, a line, a fitting or control valve. Coolant leak appears to be from the cap. Going to need to do the throw out bearing, some dash light bulbs an wiper blades. but good for the price. Hopefully if need be I can make some $ with it. Paul

I live here and don't like it!! But family obligations keep me here. Pulled a Steco demo trailer for Horan Sand and Gravel in the early 80's. Takes a special person to run a dumptrailer in my opinion....just not me. Paul

Nice to see plan stuff!1 Thanks!! Paul

The right rear outter is the spare from his trailer, the matched tire from the truck is included with a spun off valve. He ony had one tractor with a Flat bed trailer, the balance were 60's and 70's GMC and I.H. 5 tonners with L.I. style tater bodies. Most all the farm trucks were I.H. or GMC and 95% gas powered, a semi and diesel on the older farms is rare. I saw a set of isolaters in the cab ,but really didn't pay much attention to them. We'll see how it is sunday and look over his folder of paperwork from when it was new.

Went out and looked at it this morning and talked to the original owner.170 k on it It spent its life hauling corn and pumpkins. He was pretty up front about it, needs king pins and a tie rod end, whinny throw out bearing, radiator seeps until its fully warm. The mirror post and fiberglass pieces from left fender are in the cab, he said that it was ripped of where it sits by kids. Going back early sunday to take it for a loop to Riverhead and back (about a 25 mile run on rural and a short trip on the expressway) The cab mounts are all solid so I assume that all the R cabs sit lower in the back? I caught the tail end on the local news and naturally assumed it was on Long Island.. .. I see in the photos that the trailer is tarped, was it loaded? If so how could you not feel that? Paul

The post office has asked Congress to drop the requirement that it make a $5.5 billion annual payment into a general government fund to cover future retirement disability benefits. No other government agency is required to make such a payment. This is one reason the P.O. is in the red. The Feds see the P.O. as a cash cow like our S.S. Paul -
The LIE is basicly the only way to go out and back on Long Island, probbly more than 1/2 of all the truck trailer traffic is on it, and mostly "easy" marks.... sand trailers and flat beds Still nothing but a money grab.. Paul

She was on her bus run to Peconic on the north fork of L.I. and found a "pretty" Mack at a closing down farm for me to look at. Here are the photos she took .Says its only $3550.00 neg. Got to go look this weekend I guess. Paul

We got a set up like that here on the Long Island Expressway. At the NYC line you have NYC DOT, at the Nassau county /Suffolk county line you have Nassau Pd "safety" checks and at exit 64 in Suffolk you have the Suffolk Sheriffs motor carrier unit doing full checks and the New York State Police doing random stops and weight checks. I got stopped 3 weeks ago by the State police because "your truck is old and its got to have violations" None found. All it in a 65 mile stretch of road. Paul

Mack Trucks Annual Report from 1936

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land Called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and their Will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that Person known as "The One." He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He Hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to save you." My lack Of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my Association with evil doers are of no consequence. I shall save you With Hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the Land that he who proceeded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, And that all he has built must be destroyed. And the people rejoiced, For even though they knew not what "The One" would do, he had promised That it was good; and they believed. And "The One" said " We live in The greatest country in the world. Help me change everything about it!" And the people said, "Hallelujah! Change is good!" Then He said, "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats." And the People said "Sock it to them!" "And redistribute their wealth." And The people said, "Show us the money!" And the he said, " Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody.." And Joe the plumber asked, " Are you kidding me? You're going to Steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??" And "The One" Ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized. One lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist policy?" And she was Banished from the Kingdom's press corps ". Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and Having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with Radical terrorists?" And "The One" said, "Simple. I shall sit with Them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they Will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!" And the people Said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons Into free cars for the people!" Then "The One" said "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes." And one, lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes." So "The One" said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!" And the people said, "Hallelujah! Show us the money!" Then "The One" said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!" And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed. And He said. "I shall mandate employer-funded health care for every worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the clinics." And the people said, "Give me some of that!" Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas." And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?" Then "The One" said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will skyrocket!" And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates." So "The One" said, Not to worry. If your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out. Just sign up with the ACORN and you troubles are over!" Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..." And the people said, "Hallelujah!" and they made him king! And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like a rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support. Then "The One" said, "I am the "the Chosen One"- The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have enough!" But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. "Wait a minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more... And "The One" said, "Wait a minute. That is not fair!!" And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!" And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?" But yea verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built. And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish, "give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too late, and their homeland was no more. You may think this a fairy tale, but it's not. It's happening RIGHT NOW The day we lose our will to fight is the day we lose our freedom. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Does Anyone Care About Other Trucks Like They Care About Macks Here?

Those people are nuts. My thoughts with the drum is after I have it lifted off is to quarter it, empty it and re weld it. It will never be functional just look the part. Paul
