  1. I'll be near LIC this week ,I can see the LIC historical society and find out if they have any info. Paul
  2. Yeah, can't figure NYS. I have a 88 Dodge 3/4 ton, The passenger plates required a stand up cap and a pair of permantly fixed seats witrh belts. The weight is unladen and don't put a load in it. you'll get a citation. I left my commercial tags on it for my trips to the dump. N.Y.C. is even worst on enforcement of the cap law. they'll tag you at the bridges and tunnels. Truck wise I have a few friends with the Duramax and they love it. The Dodge with the Cumins is a trouble free unit too. I trhink bottom line would be what you like and what is available. My Dodge has a 5.9 Cumins, first year it was available in the Dodge with a heavy duty 4 speed stick . A side from injectors and a starter, no problems in 150,000 miles and 22 years. Paul

  7. Sure sounds like a very unhappy ex employee. It seems that most dealers (car and truck) hire mostly part changers. I've also got more help from members here than from my local dealership. The general ratio of Mack to other makes for the sand and gravel trucks and the road builder was always 90% Mack and the balance spread between Pete and International. Now a Mack hauling sand or asphault is a rarity. There mostly all K.W., Petes and Western Stars. Could be the dealer service and general "we're the only game in town" attitude be the cause? The techs I've dealt with here couldn't pour pee from a boot, if you put the instructions on the bottom of it. Thank god were have good ,knowledgable helpful members here.
  8. I go to Hersey every year as a vender in the Chocolate field annex. I buy and sell 1941 Chevrolet parts and Corvair truck parts. This year with almost nothing to sell I went on a quest looking for parts for my AC and general B model parts for my mixer. I bought a complete AC engine for $75.00 to get the factory oil filter set up. Not much other stuff there. Some AC sheet metal that was worse than what I have........Must have been real special because of the non negotiabe prices. It seems that prices for almost every thing doubled or tripled. Came across two NOS B model front fenders and and filler panels.....at only 3500.00 for the set non negotiable. Am I that out of touch with current parts prices for old Macks?
  9. Looks fantastic. It's the only Magnum COE I've seen. Really nice to see it restored. Paul
  10. Are your batteries good?, do a load test on them to check for Crank draw and a low or bad cell. Also check the ground conections on the chassis and the engine, make sure they have clean and a solid connection. The correct cable gage is very important.\ as mentioned before. Paul
  11. I bet the "trainer" is related to the electrician we used to have at the shop. He was telling his new helper that you never grab these 2 wires when the power is on........Metal linesman pliers.........aluminum ladder........240 volts............knocked him on the floor. Took me a good week to stop snickering. Soap carving is good with Kirkermans soap.....growing up my mother gave me an "aquired" taste for it.
