Try to buy a neckers knob!!! Found one at HO PENN the Cat Dealer her. Nobody knew what it was for...... My oldest son went to Home Depot answering and ad for a Tool Dept sales "person" Eventhough he's worked with ctools most of his life and has been around them his entire life he was not qualified. They didn't want somebody who could sell you the tool and tell you how to use it,or which was best for your needs. They required a degree in marketing! "can't tell you what it is for or how to use it,but I can tell you they have a good advertising dept"...........Oh yeah do you want fries too?"

I have NYS Historical tags on my 1969 DM. Has anyone have or heard of that type of tag on an antique trailer? I have a chance to purchase 1962 Trailermobile Moving Van from fellow ATHS member. I'd eventually use it when I convert my mixer to a tractor. The DMV told me they have no idea, Albany told me to go to local DMV..... Paul

Thats for when the snow flies and its cold out. My garage has minimal heat so most of the time that would normally be spent on the real units are spend fiddling with smaller ones. Paul

It's not just Mack or dealers. (Although I had to wait 2 weeks for rocker cover gasket for my DM). It is computers. Parts countermen used to have hands on knowledge of what they sold,most were floor mechanics who moved to the parts room. Now you move from fast food to parts. Add in bean counters who look only at what moves the fastest and that is most of the problem. We had a few real auto part stores here,Napa and Devo both who used not only computers but REAL CATOLOGS!!! Both out of business. I spent the better part of Monday trying to buy a dozen 1/2 i.d. star washers The new parts stores had no idea what it was because it wasn't in the computer (plus I think last week the counter help was working at Mac Donalds) I went to the Mack dealer...after showing what a star washer was.....I heard the phrase " It's not in the computer, whats it for?" "It's for the ground straps on a 1969 Mach DM" "we don't stock any parts for that old a truck" "than look it up for a 2009 Mack." "whats it for?" Well long story short...I pointed to the Bowmen cabinet and said there are the washers I need on the top rack, I left without them ,I couldn't be billed because they weren't in the computer......... but hey do you want fries with that??

Grand kids bought one and swapped the battery pack from one of their R/C cars and upped the power.....sure stings

I would measure from spring to rebound stop mount on both sides to see if it is a weak spring. (assuming it is not chassis twist). I'd also look for worn spring shackle bushings and or a broken leaf for starters. Had a similar problem on my DM and it was a combo of worn spring bushings and a broken leaf behind one of the spring clamps. Paul

Radios are a fixed ground. A positive ground will not work in a negative system. The radio I got for myDM at Radio Shack had a positive ground / negative ground switch on it. Paul

I got her a Riding-lawn mower and she still complains. My wife has always wanted a riding lawn mower. She works all day and was always tired when she came home from work and thought that a riding lawn mower would help her get the yard work done quicker so she would have more time for the chores inside the house. So, being the handy sort of guy that I am, I made her a riding lawn mower. I guess I thought she would squeal with delight or something and give me a big hug. To this day I have never been able to understand why some women are so hard to please.

The last I did was a 1937 Ford from Positive ground to Negative ground. I changed the cables at the battery not the starter, including replacing the cable ends,. The terminals are one large one smaller. I reversed the wires on the volt meter and the amp gauge.I repolerized the generator (not Alternator) and made no changes on the regulator . As I recall that was all the other gauges all functioned correctly. It was a long time ago so I may have forgotten a small detail. Paul

Had the same thing happen with a B81. I heard a noise on acceleration, pull over to look and found one of the head bolts gone and loosing collant from the hole. Got a garbage can and filled it with water to keep topping it off when the temps rose and got it the 20 miles home. I expected the worse and it wasn't. Did the head gaskets and all new bolt and never had the problem again. Wasn't that bad a job as I recall. Paul
