  3. Moxie is a soda unchanged recipe since 1876 made from Gentian Root . Kind of tastes like black licorice water they say it's good for what ails you . You want to try some PM me your address and I'll sent you a can or two for you to try after the holidays.
  4. Correct, but the reproductions shells where made off shore and came EDP coated that needed to be stripped, shell prepped and polished than plated by a third party here. The only similarity between the originals and the repros are the dimensions, even the gauge of steel is lighter.
  5. The expense now is the cost of the set up increased steel costs and the insane cost of chroming the break even number out of 1000 radiator shells is sales of a bit more than half of the run before a profit is made. The ones that Tylden Heritage sells are repaired and replated originals. Price I got to have my very clean un rusted shell for my mixer plated was $575 to $625 plus shipping both ways, for what the platers now call triple chrome (copper, nickel, chrome). A better price is possible with the shell stripped, prepped for plating so all the shop does is plate it. I talked over doing that with Nassau Plating on Long Island last year but never pursued it.
  6. Ya couldn't shovel the extra 76 miles to me?? I would have given you a cold Moxie.

  13. Vermont man takes revenge on town board with a 700-pound statue of a middle finger By Rex Santus Dec 11, 2018 A Vermont man was so incensed by his town's zoning regulations that he erected a 700-pound statue giving officials the middle finger — and lit it with floodlights so they would always be reminded of his feelings toward them. Ted Pelkey’s decade-long feud with local officials reached spiteful new heights Nov. 30, when he installed the statue on a high pole in his front yard, along Route 128, after his request to relocate his monofilament cleaning and truck repair business from a nearby town to his own property was denied. Pelkey said officials won’t let him build the garage simply because they don’t like him, and he thought a middle finger was just the right response. “We wanted to show our appreciation,” Pelkey told VICE News. The Westford Selectboard and Development Review Board had denied Pelkey’s requests for the large garage, asserting that his applications did not meet the town’s standards for a variety of reasons. Among them, Pelkey’s application lacked necessary information about lighting that will “likely be needed for security purposes,” and did not effectively describe the purpose of the building, officials said. But while Pelkey couldn’t legally build a garage, he does have the legal right to flip off town officials for all eternity. Though billboards are banned in Vermont, Pelkey’s middle finger is protected because it isn’t advertising a business or service. Furthermore, the middle finger is a gesture that is generally protected by the First Amendment, so Pelkey’s $4,000 statue seems to fall under the category of “public art.” “He apparently can do what he’s done,” Allison Hope, chair of the Westford Selectboard, told the Burlington Free Press. As it turns out, even though billboards are banned advertisements in Vermont, the middle finger has gotten more attention for Pelkey’s business than any roadside sign ever would have. Twitter users have expressed a growing admiration for his pettiness, and there’s even a Facebook fan page for Pelkey’s wooden finger statue. Pelkey’s attorney appealed the board’s decision several weeks ago and is awaiting a decision, according to the Burlington Free Press. Images courtesy of Ted Pelkey
  14. I have a use for a crane to re drum my mixer, do 30 pre fab foundations and eventually pre fab wall panels. Replace the duals with Super Singles and it will work on the beaches to do the sea wall / jetty jobs I have in the spring So drove down to the snowy land of Danville Va to look at a 6x6 AWD 5ton M819 rotator wrecker. Just under 16k miles 2 year old DOD re manufacture. All I would need to do is a set of out riggers to replace the ones it once had. $26,500. Made them a cash offer and will know by Monday. Paul
  15. If you use stainless rod or wire you can leave the chrome alone, just clean the rust edges and a slight Vee the back and do a segmented weld in 1/2 inch runs with low heat generation and allow to cool completely between welds. Weld from each end on the front first. Than flip and run a stitch weld on the back on the back. The weld wire and rod are both high Chromium content so will bled with the chrome plate well. Stick rod use 308L 16 for AC welder 308L 15 for DC welder (better results) expensive per rod cost if you don't shop around MIG use ER309 SL .035 wire with minimum of 25/75 gas. Crown Wire makes a 2lb spool for under $25.00
  16. Weld it with Stainless rod or wire, you can pretty much blend it in when you file it down and work up the sand paper grit to about 400.
