  1. Only asked because where you are can affect how fast or slow you can get any parts you might need. Paul
  2. Before you pour any money into it. Take a good look at the overall unit with someone who knows Macks and get a good idea what the other potential issues, if any may be down the road with it. Everybody on here has made some type of rookie mistake, learn from it and move on. Don't be afraid to ask when unsure.
  3. Where is your dept located? Take a look at the snifter rod ( linkage ) going from the cab to the trans. Could be loose, broken or worn. Contact the MACK museum about a manual. They are all volunteer so a donation for the info is always helpful. Paul
  4. The AMT R685 will give you the weed burner exhaust, the air start tank, the lighter suspension, the R style front bumper, later dash and a roof air deflector for the U model. These are the decals you need. from Jerry at the link below. Be sure to tell him Paul (41chevy) from Gold Coast Hobby and the CTEMC sent you. http://www.modeltruckin.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_142&products_id=474 You can PM me and I'll give you my Phone number if you need more info.
  5. No one in Suffolk PD or the Sheriffs Depts in the Deerpark FD that could run the VIN?
  6. Also most were "weed burner" under chassis exhaust. To quote a line about their Macks was "A big window no stack Mack" Paul
  7. It was for sale at Hersey this year for 30K. NYS all you need on a pre title vehicle is a bill of sale and a tracing of the VIN or the Motor Number. They issue a 6 month non transferable registration. If it come clear after 6 months you get a transferable registration.
  8. I need 5 Finger Death Punch's Sham Pain to go on the NJT and Bring on the Clowns to go on the DC Loop.
  9. Eat to much and enjoy the day!
  10. Seen them with both OEM. Look at the spec tag on the engine. Your 688 could have a 350h.p. or a 300 h.p. in it.
  11. Three Calicos = a Liberty III, an M900, an M100 Sporter , a FG42 and a Spas-12 with all the accessories 1979 issue. Maybe an IDF FNFAL serial 004
  12. Looks like all they had were Tasers not handguns. FYI I may sell some of my "toys".
  13. I use the same additive as JHANCOCK but my units also have DAHL/Baldwin water separators in line, takes a lot of potential issues out of the picture.
  14. Thank you.
  15. Small journal will take the revs long as you run a girdle and ARP studs, Brodex heads 1.5 and 1.7 roller rockers exhaust and intake ,ancient Crower roller cam, Jessel gear drive and Wiseco Pro True blower pistons. Running ethanol and 25 of boost not so much if you run it over 6000. 4;56 airlock with 31.5 tall 11inch Goodyears Insert other media
  16. Yes, Dropped it of sent him payment and now I'll pick it up in spring and pay the storage fees. I kind of lost interest for a while last summer. I agree with your mom, nights and breakfast time. Don't believe in rev limiters most times never even look at the tach after launch. Been racing that car since 1968 it's like second sense. Running the same 4 speed and 57 Olds rear since 1974 just eat engines. One point in the late 70's I was blowing up an engine a week street racing, all big block chevies. . Red line was 7800 small journal 327 destroked to 302. 11.75 to 1 comp. 60% overdrive on the 4/71 blower drive for around 25lbs boost and 6500 rpm launches and never lift to the lights. 7500 rpm shifts seemed to stress the bottom end. Got almost a year out of it so all's good.
  17. Since the end of April up in been Maine, Nova Scotia and New Hampshire. Needed a bit time to sort things out where no one would look for me. Even blew up the engine in my 55 Chevy gasser at New England Raceway at the Northeastern Gasser meet. Literally poured out the bottom end. Felt good as hell to make four and a quarter runs it that hard. Note to all, never, never ever launch a blown injected ethanol fueled small block at 6500 rpm.
  18. Back home in Fork Union. Haven't been home since my wife died in April. The Dogs, Inky and the Dodge are glad to be home. Did learn that nobody came and did anything I asked with the food in the fridge. Tossed the entire unit in the dumpster and bought a new one with ice and water. even bought a Garman GPS.
