  1. Interesting this "report" appears right after the Round Up lawsuit is settled...lawyers pushing this story? Guess the Talcum Powder cases dried up.
  2. So Eggs are bad , meat is bad especially bacon, Milk and dairy are bad. My thought is this http://dai.ly/x2rmdkb http://dai.ly/x2rmdkb
  3. The Bango rear was all 1938 and up Ford 1 ton mechanisticals, Bango was cast aluminum. Yeah brakes took a bit to understand. First thing we learned was if you back up, stopped and went forward you had zero brakes until the servo's rotated back to the forward mode. Learning that usually was accompanied by white knuckles and a loud Aw F$%K.
  4. Mean while we used Agent Orange and MEK with no protection in Vietnam and still get told to suck it up, it's no big deal.
  5. Remember there is a big difference in the engineering staff to the assembly techs for Volvo trucks and cars to the Volvo Vocational equipment. Much of the heavy equipment experience and designs benefit from Volvo Defense before Volvo quit the military line. Military equipment takes a hell of a lot more abuse from operators then heavy equipment. I personally experienced that with the original M113's powered 6v53 D.D's . Paul
  6. V=8 was 331 Caddie based In line is / was GMC 261 , later kicked up to 280 ci except cross flow head was GMC bottom end machined and assembled by R.R. All their 6, 8, class C diesels and V12s used Castile nuts . Their 4 speed auto was a 1950 51 GM Hydramatic pre park unit. The head on my 320 GMC in my 55chevy is a 1958 Bentley 6 cylinder cross flow head as good or better than the Wayne head. When I was still in high school I apprenticed at Raycor Rolls Royce, BMW, Rover. got to learn all the RR secrets of the time.
  7. Have a great Birthday!! Paul
  8. Those bell housing bolts drilled for safety wire?
  9. Played in the dirt, ate some too, played in the coal bin and ash pail, played at a closed sand pit with the old cranes and equipment, swam in Oyster Bay Harbor right next to Jakobsons ship yard . Dug clams and ate them right out of the water. Go in the barn and help mix stuff like DDT and fertilizers drink water right from the tidal well feed drinking fountain. Even ate school paste and chewed the paint off the pencils Came home with cuts, bump, bruises, sprains, bee stings and poison ivy. Rhulle Cream for the bites and poison ivy, iodine for the cuts,a cold wash cloth for the sprains. Walked to the middle of the harbor on sea ice got a few swats on the a$$ for being stupid. Never really sick aside from childhood things and a rare cold in over 65 years. My liberal daughter in laws boys get a crumb on them it is a panic issue. Both will not eat food from the garden or even a chicken if it's not from the store. Close to an entire generation of Wussy's afraid of anything the remotely looks un safe or dirty.
  10. Happy Birthday!! Paul
  11. You're a 19 year old kid. You are critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam . It's November 14, 1965. LZ (landing zone) X-ray. Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in. You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day. Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter. You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn't seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it. Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you. He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying his lightly armored UH-1 Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway. Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway. And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board. Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety. And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!! Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm. He took 30 seriously wounded soldiers out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey. Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Army Retired, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the age of 70, in Boise, Idaho. May God Bless and Rest His Soul. I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, We’ve heard plenty about murders, Health Care, Border security etc. BUT NOTHING ABOUT THE PASSING OF Medal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman. Shame on the media!!!
  12. Last class I had to the farm on Long Island was 5 years ago. Teacher asked what all the "sacks" were hanging in the barn. Lost a bit of color when I told her they were all my lambs and rabbits curing. School asked a few years ago who do they sue if a child gets hurt, Told them not me as they are no longer welcome here.
  13. He's busy with his new self contained mobile bar b q. . . Here is a BMT Spy Satellite Photo of the BBQ and the fix'ns
  14. There was a small custom bike shop right at NY Thruway exit 20 on route 32, often wondered if that was his originally. Paul
  15. Didn't you get the memo? Crime pays and no punishment except maybe you're cable channels are limited...THis is an MS-13 boss that ordered murders and more, don't you feel sorry he hasn't got enough phone access? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/07/alleged-ms-13-kingpin-pleads-with-judge-to-improve-jail-conditions.html An alleged major drug trafficker known as "Reaper," who's accused of being a kingpin in the brutal MS-13 gang, told a judge life in lockup is unbearable and complained about a lack of phone access and the "discrimination" he faces at a New York county jail. Miguel Angel Corea Diaz, 35, begged State Supreme Court Justice Patricia Harrington to intervene while he's locked up in Nassau County, Newsday reported Monday. Corea Diaz claimed he was “suffering.” “Discrimination. I’m suffering in this county. They call me ‘El Chapo.’ Die, scary guy,” the so-called East Coast leader of the notorious gang told the court he had received “a lot of death threats” from outside the jail. Corea Diaz was charged with three counts of operating as a major drug trafficker and five counts of second-degree conspiracy. He pleaded not guilty to the crimes in April. The district attorney’s office had told the court Corea Diaz reported directly to the gang’s leaders in El Salvador' In front of Harrington on July 31, however, Corea Diaz painted himself as a loving father who misses his children, the paper reported. “I’m a human being, I have a family. I have children. I’m not able to talk to them,” he said. “It’s about time that I speak to them because when I get deported, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to speak to them again.” Corea Diaz is locked in his jail cell for 23 hours a day and has limited phone access, his lawyer Scott Gross told the judge, adding “The conditions have been unbearable.”

  19. During the week of August 27 — 31, Commercial Motor Vehicle Law Enforcement departments will choose one day to focus on checking underride guards. The enforcement activity is called “Rear Impact Guard Check” and the CVSA describes it as a “one-time, one-day … enforcement initiative.” Law enforcement officers will be conducting Level I, II, IV or V Inspections during the enforcement actitivites. The Rear Impact Guard Check is being held as a response to a letter drafted by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), who asked the CVSA to “consider updating its current North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria to add rear underride guards.” The CVSA says that data gathered during Rear Impact Guard Check will help them to make an informed decision in response to Gillibrand and Rubio’s request. https://cdllife.com/2018/state-police-check-rear-impact-guards-august-enforcement-blitz/
  20. Brookville Police on Long Island ran '59 Chevy Biscayne 4 doors with 283 Fuelies, Factory 4 speeds with Metallic brakes. They patrolled a section of Northern Blvd that was dead straight for close to 5 miles. they traded in 56 Olds 88's with the J-2 option for them.
  21. And a workable factory fuel injection.
  22. That truck was for sale down the road from us at a sod farm, they also had an 1980 R685 for sale. That followed me home. The C80 had the typical GM natural iron ore rockers, fender bottoms and floor pan. All I thought of was having a torsion bar break and growing old trying to find one. GM's issue was they flung an idea into production, get it 90% perfected and drop it. That goes back to the very beginning the Model D car with a 288 OHV 8. powerful and well received but never bothered perfected the clutch assembly. Copper cooled four was an other poorly thought out idea that they ended up buying back or converting to water cooled. The 4,6,8 Caddies, the Fiero. the Tempest rope drive with the Hyper kit was capable of taking some big horse power.just piss poor promotion. VOLVO introduced an Advanced Design fully independent front suspension with air bags for 2012 and on class 6 to 8 heavy trucks
  23. Early Cracker Boxes and IFS and trailing arm rear suspension with full air bags and self leveling. The real early Cracker Boxes had the air ride air tanks in the rear trailing arms and Aluminum drums with iron braking area. GM never used to be afraid to fling new ideas into production Here is a few shots of the torsion bar in a c-80 farm truck in Riverhead were we left it. 327, 4speed and 2 speed rear. .
  24. If that is the timing mark on the bell housing, be sure to set the point dwell first. Point settings effect timing. Also with todays crap gas you may end up getting the timing close with a light and fine tune it by road timing it to eliminate ping. Paul
