  1. It's matched to a 237 , same as it was mated to in the yard. My mixer is a 1961 B-61 that was a dump converted to a mixer in 1963, when it was a year old by Roanoak Sand on Long Island. It was up dated in 1973 to a 237 with a TRD722L (aluminum case) in it since than.The 722 worked fine until it was retired in 1987. I'm making it a 6x6 so this trans is a direct install. The B 424 and 426 that John Hancock posted, I bid on for the drive trains. Iin fact the 424 has the 722 Duplex in it.

Most all systems need the restriction of the thermostat to slow the coolant flow down so heat can be picked up by the coolant.My Mopars I'd pop the valve out and run it that way, Fords and Chevies I'd pop is a large flat washer in place o the thermostat to restrict the flow down. Check the cap also a bad cap or one that has to low or to high a release pressure will also cause it to run hot.Paul
  3. Nope. The President has no say on up grading equipment. It can be requested by him or his staff, but it still has to be reviewed and approved and passed by the DOD and than by the House Appropriation Committee, than on to the GSA and approved and monies appropriated for the purchase, install and certification by FAA. Even Mr Obama did not have that power with his pen and phone.
  4. Seems the residents and town governments inaction brought much of the abandonment on themselves. From the Centrailia Town history. "In May of 1962, a strip mine, then being used as an unregulated garbage dump, was identified as the origin to this fire.   6. One additional bit of info If you are going to run headers, the primary tube diameter will also affect your torque curve. Smaller primaries about 1 3/4" will be low to mid range, 2'' or larger will move the torque curve up about 1000 to 1400 rpm.

Before I bought it the shop pulled the covers off in front of me and the gears and shifter forks and rods are good, had the oil tested and no issues aside from normal usage.Turned to by hand through the gears and no feeling of bearing issues. I want the spec sheet and parts list on the transfer case "just in case". The rest is a standard duplex. I don't like to have something that I have no info on if needs work or adjustment. Plus it's correct for my mixer to be made AWD.

The Powermatic was a late WWII design for the M18 Hell Cat tank destroyer and the M26 Pershing as the Torq-matic and built by GM's Detroit Transmission Division , all production was transferred to GM's Allison division in 1946. I should have one in one of my containers from our '53 GMC potato hauler from when I yanked the 320 six for my 55 bel air gasser years ago. Manual Valve body for gear selection. Bullet proof but weighs a ton.
  11. The entire unit is MACK and I have numbers to ID it, Just can't find any manual or even a parts break down. I'd like to look in it and do anything it may need before I put it in my B mixer. It is the correct unit for my B and I've gotten the driven steer axle and spring kits for the conversion of my mixer to AWD. I'm probably going to have to hit the vintage military vehicle dealers for a DOD tech manual. Paul

  13. They may not be the cheapest NOW, but their time on top for low cost manufacturing, severely damaged the economy and skill pools of the U.S. and many other industrialized nations. When those skills, jobs and procedures are lost due to the jobs leaving, 95% of those skills do not ever come back. Paul
  14. Just bought a TRDXT722 trans/ transfer unit for my B. Can't find any specs or general info on the transfer box on the unit. Any ideas who or where might be? None in WIKI in fact zero on the unit any where so far.
  15. I always use the Peter Principle. . . . Hey Peter take out that starter, but be careful it could be a bit heavy. Than stand by sipping coffee with bandages and a truss near by. Good to be the Boss Paul
  16. Possibly the hub flange surface is not true to the wheel. When the lugs are tightened it pulls the hub flange to the wheel and stresses the stud. You or the dealer can check it for run out on the face with a dial indicator easy enough.
  17. Five there and the one far right middle in CVN-65 Enterprise which is deactivated pending decommissioning and scrap.
  18. Wonder if the install of the studs damaged them. Seen it happen with "short cuts"

  21. New truck may sound nice but with the emission /regen issues they all seem to have., if all else is good on yours I'd re rail it for the 10k. You want a third axle add it during the re rail. You'd still be way ahead on cash outlay and less issues than new. In My opinion. Paul

  25. Just use a test light on each side of the fuses WITH the ignition switch on. . The one that doesn't light on both sides is bad
