"Spud Express" I don't want to gloat but I "nailed" it on the first try...beginners luck? Thanks to all the BMT members for their excellent instructions. Watching porn videos on the interweb helped too. It did however take three (3) tries to back it 90 degrees from the narrow side road into the barnyard (there is about 15' between a stump and a block building. I think the stump is going to be history soon. Ken - duh what do I do? Dispatcher - I think you back it up until it stops. Then pull forward about 3 feet and if the trailer does not come unhooked you are good to go. Don't worry about the landing gear and tire skid marks.

Thanks! I am giving it serious consideration. Another "virgin" experience. I am going to pull it around locally for a few weeks and then decide. So far so good! BTW, I counted at least 25 funiture pads.

First - I found the fifth wheel pivot grease zerks. They were hiding under some old hard grease. I pumped about 10 shots of grease in each one. Hopefully that is enough. Second - the new toy is home! Picked it up at ODFL around 10a. Backed up to the trailer, correct height, backed under it slowly, and there was the sound of the latch locking. Pulled forward and it was tight (best kind). Got out and checked the latch from behind, and it was good. The Dispatcher at ODFL confirmed the hookup. Connected the air lines and electric cable and cranked up the landing gear. Checked the lights and trailer brake. Life is good! PA Trooper showed up and verified the VIN. I will get permanent OH license when I get to Canton this weekend. Nothing like the first time! Pulled it to the farm and backed it in front of the barn. Not sure that is where I will keep it but at least it is home. Driving with the trailer is definitely different than bobtail. Ride is better and braking is smoother.

I looked under the hood tonight...E6.

WD40 is a "Water Dispersant" and the 40 is the 40th try. Hence WD-40 is not much good for rust penetration. I like PB Blaster or Kroil.

I looked tonight and I cannot see any grease fittings on the fifth wheel pivot or underneath. I scraped some of the hard old grease out of the grooves and will apply a coating of fresh grease before I leave. Going Tuesday morning to pickup the trailer...pics to follow.

I don't think "rubber" and brake fluid are compatible. I would suggest neoprene. But I am no chemist.

I agree....good choice for obvious reasons. Better to change your mind now rather than regret your decision after it is sold. I still have my dad's two (2) farm tractors that have not run since he died in 1991. I still have his 1990 Dodge D150 pickup (35K miles) that I drive locally. I plan to keep them until I HAVE TO SELL THEM.

New Content works okay for me. I am using Internet Explorer 8 and 9 (depending on computer). What changed to the "Like This"? It used to show who liked a message but now it does not.
