  1. South Dakota = PACCAR country PACCAR = and likey 6 cylinder powered.
  2. The V8 died with the advent of higher fuel costs and tight emissions regs. Also, the HP of 6 cylinder engines has equalled or surpassed the HP of the older V8s. The cost to develop and certify new engines has escalated. All the OEs dropped V configuration engines years ago, not just Mack. The DD 2stroke was an inexpensive engine but emissions was its downfall. I agree the V8 is a special engine but how many companies or owners are willing to pay the price of a V8? Trucks are now "vertically intergrated" and the truck OEs are controlling the drivetrain (something Mack did years ago). Go talk to the engine OEs and convince them the merits of producing a V8. EPA fuel economy regs on HD trucks is driving aerodynamic designs. Go talk to the government! As much as I like and want to preserve the past, technology changes. Look at the automotive industry...big block V8s are a thing of the past in most cars. You have to purchase a high performance car (Camaro, Challenger, Mustang, etc.) or pickup to get a V8. Same thing with a rear wheel drive car. Get over it!
  3. Larry - welcome to PA. I can feel for your frustation. That is why I try to take major highways even tho it may be a longer route. Timewise it sometimes can be quicker taking the longer route. Hang in there!
  4. Orientation of the arm to the shaft. Can you manually move the wiper full sweep?
  5. Awesome video. That engine sounds great. Driptroits have a distinctive sound. The lever on the steering wheel is the "trolley" brake....manual trailer brake. As for air pressure, it takes a few minutes especially at idle. Once you get it running without stalling, run it up to 1200-1500 rpm and the air pressure should start to build. Once you get some air pressure, I would open the drain valves on the air tanks to blow out any accumulated water/moisture. Change the fuel filters (fill the new ones with fresh fuel). You might want to back flush the fuel supply line to make sure it is not plugged. Others on here will likely have better explanations and suggestions than me.
  6. Another trip past the Curve and you didn't call me. BTW, nice pics as always. Nice collection of boobage, specially like the one in front of the motel. Nice 1955 (I think) Dodge too. Thanks!
  7. About the only place you can listen to "traditional" country is Sirius/XM. I have Sirius in all my vehicles. I HATE listening to "free" radio stations. I will not even turn the regular radio on if I don't have satellite. My one complaint with Sirious/XM is the jockeys. Just play music!!! I don't need you talking over the song intros or your other BS. Give me the money you pay these jokers. JUST PLAY THE DANG MUSIC!!! George, Waylon, Merle, Porter, Tammy, Patsy, and others....great country music. Do you remember when George had his hair cut in a flat top? Tammy is the one who suggested he let it grow.
  8. Mack did not have enough funds to "upgrade" their E7 so they definitely would not had funds to "upgrade" the V8. If not for Volvo (or some other company), Mack would likely not be in business today. Like it or not! I am not sure where "certain" people work but "if you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen" and "don't bite the hand that feeds you."
  9. Great news Vinny...spring has arrived in NY. I need to get my MH out of winter hibernation too.
  10. George was one of the best traditional C&W artists. Surprised at his death. Tammy preceeded him many years ago. She was a "hottie" in the day. RIP George.
  11. Hat! You grew a beard. Isn't it a little warm in FL to be growing a beard...or can't you afford a razor? Sorry for hijaking the thread.
  12. The reason the turbos look big is because of the water jacket housing. They are water cooled. The actual turbo is similar in size to one on a truck engine. And you thought I was going to talk about the big Ts on the teacher. BTW, the TK ladies are "pale" in comparison to Hooters. Just sayin'. Interesting pics tho. Any info on the fire truck loosing the rear axle?
  13. Welcome to BMT. Nice Mack...restore to original. Quad headlights seem odd to us in USA.
  14. Very nice pics. The snow covered mountain is impressive. Thanks!
  15. Nice pics. Omelette looks GREAT! Now I am hungry.
  16. Mike Now that the weather is nice I am going to drive to Huntington and try to get some updated pics.
  17. Congrats JT!!!! Hope all goes well for the pickup and drive home.
  18. Not so fast...how about a MH!
  19. Chillicothe, OH....south of Columbus.
  20. If several BMT members are going to be intown on Thursday, I may change plans to arrive then. Perhaps we can "congregate" at a local establishment on Thursday afternoon/evening.
  21. I do not buy parts from the dealer so that is not an issue. But they are definitely on the "do not patronize" list.
  22. Ron, Thanks for the support. My money is on "export". The Mack salesman was not happy that I bought one of the MHs. The path to the MH was thru my contacts at Mack HQ.
  23. Martin's Pastry owned five 1995 CH612 with low rise sleepers. Powertrain is the same as my MH = EM7-300 and T2050. When I bought my current MH, I asked Martin's and the Mack dealer to contact me when the CHs would be traded. Yesterday I sent a note to the Mack dealer and I received a reply....GONE!!! I replied asking if they were exported or what happened to them. I will let you know if I get any info. So much for getting a heads up on purchasing another truck from Martin's. I will end this note before I go into a "rant".
