  1. I will add my 2 cents FWIW...in general I am against exporting Macks (or most other stuff). But the big issue is pricing. Exporters have customers who are willing to pay more than the true value of the vehicle/part/etc. So that makes it more difficult for "Joe Common Person" to purchase vehicles. Sellers see these "over inflated" prices and inflate the price. When "Joe Common Person" sees a vehicle for sale, it is usually passed by because of price. So unless one has the $$$$$ the vehicles are exported. I paid more for my MH than the "actual" value because the "sister" trucks were being sold to an exporter. In order to "save" this one I had to match the price. So this takes away capital that could be used to purchase other vehicles, parts, etc. I have limited funds but it seems the foreign enities have unlimited funds. I do not have a business so everything I purchase is for "hobby use". It is difficult to justify (even borrow funds) for an item that is for "fun".
  2. I suggested the "nametag" idea to Barry last summer.
  3. Welcome to BMT. Post some pics.
  4. Larry - let me know if you go look at the truck. Anyone "guess" at price?
  5. Nice job and pics.
  6. Denny (and Ruth Ann) - enjoyed your "open house" last year. I am also willing to contribute. No reason for you to bear the total cost.
  7. What conductor?
  8. mmmm, like the train lady.
  9. Perhaps he will post pics of the wimmin Mack trucks in the area!
  10. I was not sure when 17 digit VIN went into effect. Thanks for clearing my mess.
  11. Never heard of any Mack clubs "south of the border".
  12. The number stamped in the cab is the cab number. VIN is likely 17 digits (numbers and letters) Per 2stack... The VIN should be on a plate on the driver's door along with the model number. Also check the frame in case the cab was changed.
  13. Barry is being quiet about his day. Maybe Watt's sent him on a week long cruise for his birthday. Or maybe he has not recovered from the celebration.
  14. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
  15. Save the serial number or save the truck? Here is your chance to get a second U.
  16. I had an "uninvited" visitor(s) to the farm last week...actually drove thru the yard and parked next to a building (with snow on the ground). Luckily nothing was stolen (albeit they tried) but I am sure they will be back. I am in the market for a motion activated wireless outdoor surveillance system. Ideally I would like the wireless camera to be battery powered since I will be installing cameras where there is no power supply. The farthest camera would be about 100 yards from the house. I started my interweb search but have not found exactly what I seek. I don't know what a system like this would cost (3-4 cameras) but $500 would not be out of my price range. I thought about buying "fake" cameras but dismissed the idea. "Lead" is not an option since I would need to be present. All the buildings are locked but as I said before..."locks only keep an honest person out." Seeking information and suggestions of systems to consider. Thanks in advance for any input!
  17. Always like the look of the 86 series IH with the square nose. I don't like the plastic futuristic stuff today (CIH, JD, etc.).
  18. Sorry to hear this story. I hope your parents can recover the money. Too many people out there trying to scam others (especially older people). I would like to see several scammers at the end of a rope! And part of the problem is the legal beagles. The law will likely just "slap their hands". What happened to honesty and doing a good job?
  19. Sounds like an inlet air restriction issue. Have you tried running it without a filter? Just long enough to determine if the filter is restricting the air flow.
  20. Wow, there are a bunch of youngins on BMT which is GREAT. Glad you are preserving the Mack tradition. Too bad more young people are not interested in preserving the past (not just Mack).
  21. My MH has a similar thermocouple connector. The wire from the dash to the engine has the mating connector. If your wire is okay, buy a mating connector and put it on the end of the gauge wire at the engine.
  22. Welcome to BMT
  23. Hmmm, that explains the new security guard.
  24. Looks like they are giving something "fresh air" or taking a pee break. Might want to stay away from them.
