  1. Vinny - looks nice...but you got the cab too far to one side!
  2. Who was the supplier for these lamps (Grote, Signal Stat, etc.)? May be able to contact the company and get parts. Did you contact Barry to see if the "obsolete parts warehouse" has any stock?
  3. X2. The best part of driving a truck (or other high profile vehicle) is the opportunity to view "seat covers".
  4. There will be a few trucks there on Friday but the BIG day is Saturday. Friday is set-up and the Mack Bros. clambake Friday night. I plan to get there mid-afternoon on Friday.
  5. You are correct about the pre-trip inspection. You do not actually do a pre-trip but you must walk around the truck/trailer and point to each item on the list. You need to tell the examiner what you would check during an actual PT inspection.
  6. Any updates on this? October 27-28 is Saturday and Sunday. I heard the show will be Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday (26, 27, & 28). Can anyone confirm? I would like to make hotel reservations soon. Thanks!!!
  7. I obtained my CDL on my own in 2006. I was able to find a local test facility that rented a tractor/trailer to practice the skills portion (backup, etc.). I studied the pretrip section in the CDL manual and repeated it in my head until I could do it in my sleep. For the written test I again studied the CDL manual. The actual on road driving portion of the test I "winged it" but I failed the first time. I knew what I did wrong and passed the OTR portion the second time (did not have to retake the pretrip and skills portions). I had previously driven HD trucks in fleet lots, on the farm, etc. so I never had any "formal" over the road training. I believe now in order to get a CDL you must obtain it through a "truck driving school". Check with your local license bureau. Good luck!!
  8. Doug, Nice signs! Any MH?
  9. My money says they will be exported (hopefully I am wrong).
  10. UPDATE: I will not be able to attend the Open House today. A storm last night at my house in OH caused some damage and I will be spending most of the morning on the phone with my insurance company, my contractor, etc. Plus the local forecast is calling for severe thunderstorms with high winds and possible hail. Sometimes "life" gets in the way of a "good time". I hope whomever attends will take some pictures and post on BMT. As they say....WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!
  11. Mike, Thanks for posting this "potential" event. Hopefully a decision will be made soon so we can make plans. Tilted Kilt....I prefer Hooters (fried pickles) but either one will get my "attention". TK or Hooters ladies with my truck....
  12. Mike, Do you know if there will be a truck show in conjunction with the Open House? If so, I will plan to keep my truck at the farm in PA. Otherwise I was planning to take it to OH after Gerhart's Show.
  13. And she has the nerve to wear a bra! Good god lady...either hide the bra straps, go braless, or take off the top!
  14. Who is going to Mack Power Day on Saturday? I should be there around 8:30a.
  15. You might find something at Gerhart's in October. Or try Roger Ux in Boyertown, PA (sorry don't have his cell phone number handy).
  16. Oh Barry!!!! What is the chance (and most importantly - cost) of getting gold mirrors reproduced? I think they look good and would go with the gold bulldog hood ornament. Were the gold mirrors installed on anything other than fire trucks?
  17. Now is the time to convert your U to an air start.
  18. Probably just a cheap 12V battery. If I remember correctly, the trucks were only shut down on weekends. Most of the OTR trucks were "slip seated". Trucks don't earn any revenue if they are sitting. The local trucks were Ford C-Series with Cat 3208 engine and Allision transmission.
  19. You mean...pressurizing the air tank...
  20. Dave and Doug, I don't remember (old age - my excuse)...What is the schedule (and times) for Friday afternoon/evening? Can I register on Friday? I am planning to be in the area around noon on Friday. I am staying at the Rodeway Inn in Akron. Anyone up for breakfast at Lititz Family Cupboard (close to Gerhart's) on Saturday morning (around 6:30a)?
  21. Vinny...keep up the progress...Gerhart's is only 4 weeks away.
  22. Kudos on the pics. I like the White 3000...ugly has H@@@. Reminds me of the IH Emeryville. And a "rat rod" with a B cab....hmmmm.
  23. Roadway's VP of Maintenance Don Dawson (RIP) was a forward thinking no-frills person. He knew what "made money" and what did not. He was one of the first to "recycle" oil. He plumbed a small line from the engine oil gallery into the fuel tank. They never had to change oil, just add oil and change the oil filter. There was no fuel gauge in the trucks. He knew how much fuel was needed to get from terminal to terminal and spec'd the fuel tank size accordingly (less dead weight, more payload). Air starters...no batteries to maintain.
  24. Vinny...I don't see any oil (double negative). What are they teaching you in school? Maybe the engines are just for show and don't run so there is no oil in them, hence no leaks.
